EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Ella protegió al primero que fue formado, al padre del mundo, que estaba solo cuando fue creado. Lo liberó de su propia caída	1 It was Wisdom who protected the first man to be fashioned, the father of the world, who had beencreated al alone, she it was who rescued him from his fal
2 y le dio la fuerza para dominar todas las cosas.	2 and gave him the strength to subjugate al things.
3 Pero un injusto que por su ira se apartó de ella pereció a causa de su furia fratricida.	3 But when in his wrath a wicked man deserted her, he perished in his fratricidal fury.
4 Y cuando, por culpa de él, las aguas anegaron la tierra, de nuevo la salvó la Sabiduría, guiando al justo sobre una simple madera.	4 When because of him the earth was drowned, it was Wisdom again who saved it, piloting the uprightman on valueless timber.
5 Cuando las naciones, por su perversión unánime, fueron confundidas, ella reconoció al justo, lo conservó irreprochable delante de Dios y lo hizo más fuerte que la ternura hacia su hijo.	5 Again, when, concurring in wickedness, the nations had been thrown into confusion, she singled outthe upright man, preserved him blameless before God and fortified him against pity for his child.
6 Cuando eran exterminados los impíos, ella libró a un justo, escapado del fuego que caía sobre las Cinco Ciudades.	6 She it was who, while the godless perished, saved the upright man as he fled from the fire rainingdown on the Five Cities,
7 En testimonio de semejante perversidad, humea allí todavía una tierra desolada, los arbustos dan frutos que no llegan a madurar y, como recuerdo de un alma incrédula, se alza una columna de sal.	7 in witness against whose evil ways a desolate land still smokes, where plants bear fruit that neverripens and where, monument to an unbelieving soul, there stands a pillar of salt.
8 Por haberse apartado del camino de la Sabiduría, no sólo tuvieron la desgracia de no conocer el bien, sino que, además, dejaron a los vivientes un momento de su locura, para que sus faltas no quedaran ocultas.	8 For, by ignoring the path of Wisdom, not only did they suffer the loss of not knowing the good, but theyleft the world a memorial to their fol y, so that their offences could not pass unnoticed.
9 La Sabiduría, en cambio, libró de las fatigas a sus servidores.	9 But Wisdom delivered her servants from their ordeals.
10 Al justo que huía de la ira de su hermano, ella lo guió por senderos rectos; le mostró la realeza de Dios, y le dio el conocimiento de las cosas santas; lo hizo prosperar en sus duros trabajos y multiplicó el fruto de sus esfuerzos;	10 The upright man, fleeing from the anger of his brother, was led by her along straight paths. Sheshowed him the kingdom of God and taught him the knowledge of holy things. She brought him success in hislabours and gave him ful return for all his efforts;
11 lo asistió contra la codicia de sus exploradores, y lo colmó de riquezas;	11 she stood by him against grasping and oppressive men and she made him rich.
12 lo protegió contra sus enemigos y lo defendió de los que acechaban contra él; y le otorgó la palma en un rudo combate, para que supiera que la piedad es más poderosa que todo.	12 She preserved him from his enemies and saved him from the traps they set for him. In an arduousstruggle she awarded him the prize, to teach him that piety is stronger than al .
13 Ella no abandonó al justo que fue vendido, sino que lo libró del pecado;	13 She did not forsake the upright man when he was sold, but snatched him away from sin;
14 descendió con él a la cisterna, y no lo abandonó en la prisión hasta entregarle el cetro de la realeza y la autoridad sobre los que lo sojuzgaban; así puso en evidencia la mentira de sus calumniadores y le dio una gloria eterna.	14 she accompanied him down into the pit, nor did she abandon him in his chains until she had broughthim the sceptre of a kingdom and authority over his despotic masters, thus exposing as liars those who hadtraduced him, and giving him honour everlasting.
15 Ella liberó de una nación opresora a un pueblo santo, a una raza irreprochable.	15 It was Wisdom who delivered a holy people, a blameless race, from a nation of oppressors.
16 Entró en el alma de un servidor del Señor y enfrentó a reyes temibles con prodigios y señales.	16 She entered the soul of a servant of the Lord, and withstood fearsome kings with wonders and signs.
17 Otorgó a los santos la recompensa de sus trabajos y los condujo por un camino admirable; fue para ellos una sombra protectora durante el día y un fulgor de estrellas durante la noche.	17 To the holy people she gave the wages of their labours; she guided them by a marvellous road,herself their shelter by day -- and their starlight through the night.
18 Los hizo pasar a pie por el Mar Rojo y los condujo a través de las aguas caudalosas.	18 She brought them across the Red Sea, leading them through an immensity of water,
19 A sus enemigos, en cambio, los sumergió y después los despidió a borbotones desde el fondo del Abismo.	19 whereas she drowned their enemies, then spat them out from the depths of the abyss.
20 Así, los justos despojaron a los impíos y celebraron, Señor, tu santo Nombre, alabando unánimemente tu mano protectora.	20 So the upright despoiled the godless; Lord, they extol ed your holy name, and with one accordpraised your protecting hand;
21 Porque la Sabiduría abrió la boca de los mudos y soltó la lengua de los más pequeños.	21 for Wisdom opened the mouths of the dumb and made eloquent the tongues of babes.
