1 Los descendientes de Aarón también estaban distribuidos por clases. Los hijos de Aarón fueron Nadab, Abihú, Eleazar e Itamar.	1 The descendants of Aaron also were divided into classes. The sons of Aaron were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
2 Nadab y Abihú murieron antes que su padre, sin tener hijos; y fueron Eleazar e Itamar los ejercieron las funciones sacerdotales.	2 Nadab and Abihu died before their father, leaving no sons; therefore only Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests.
3 David junto con Sadoc, de los hijos de Eleazar, y con Ajimélec, de los hijos de Itamar, los dividió en clases y los registró según sus funciones.	3 David, with Zadok, a descendant of Eleazar, and Ahimelech, a descendant of Ithamar, assigned the functions for the priestly service.
4 Entre los hijos de Eleazar, había más varones que entre los hijos de Itamar, y por eso, al ser divididos, los jefes de familia fueron dieciséis entre los hijos de Eleazar, y ocho entre los hijos de Itamar.	4 But since the descendants of Eleazar were found to be more numerous than those of Ithamar, the former were divided into sixteen groups, and the latter into eight groups, each under its family head.
5 Unos y otros fueron divididos por sorteo, porque tanto entre los hijos de Eleazar como entre los hijos de Itamar había jefes consagrados y jefes al servicio de Dios.	5 Their functions were assigned impartially by lot, for there were officers of the holy place, and officers of the divine presence, descended both from Eleazar and from Ithamar.
6 El escriba Semaías, hijo de Natanael, uno de los levitas, los inscribió en presencia del rey de los jefes, y en presencia del sacerdote Sadoc, de Ajimélec, hijo de Abiatar, y de los jefes de las familias sacerdotales y levíticas.
