BIBBIA VOLGARE	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Ogni sapienza dal Signore Iddio è, e con lui fu sempre, ed è dinanzi al secolo.	1 All wisdom is from the Lord God, and hath been always with him, and is before all time.
2 Or chi annumeroe l'arena del mare e le gocciole della piova e li dì del secolo? Or chi misuroe l'altezza del cielo e l'ampiezza della terra e il profondo dello abisso?	2 Who hath numbered the sand of the sea, and the drops of rain, and the days of the world? Who hath measured the height of heaven, and the breadth of the earth, and the depth of the abyss?
3 Or chi cercoe la sapienza di Dio, da cui procedono tutte le cose?	3 Who hath searched out the wisdom of God that goeth before all things?
4 Prima di tutte le cose si è da lui creata la sapienza, e lo intelletto della prudenza dal secolo.	4 Wisdom hath been created before all things, and the understanding of prudence from everlasting.
5 Fonte di sapienza si è la parola di Dio in excelsis, e li intramenti di colui sono li comandamenti eterni.	5 The word of God on high is the fountain of wisdom, and her ways are everlasting commandments.
6 Or a cui è rivelata la radice della sapienza? chi conobbe il sapere suo?	6 To whom hath the root of wisdom been revealed, and who hath known her wise counsels?
7 Or a cui è rivelata e dimostrata la dottrina della sapienza? or chi comprese il multiplicamento del suo entramento?	7 To whom hath the discipline of wisdom been revealed and made manifest? and who hath understood the multiplicity of her steps?
8 Uno è l'altissimo (Dio) Creatore onnipotente, re potente e da essere temuto molto, sedente sopra la sedia della sapienza, e signoreggiante Iddio.	8 There is one most high Creator Almighty, and a powerful king, and greatly to be feared, who sitteth upon his throne, and is the God of dominion.
9 Egli creò quella sapienza collo Spirito santo, e vidde e annumeroe e misuroe.	9 He created her in the Holy Ghost, and saw her, and numbered her, and measured her.
10 E sparse quella sopra tutte l' opere sue, e sopra ogni carne; secondo il dato suo dà quella a coloro che lui amano.	10 And he poured her out upon all his works, and upon all flesh according to his gift, and hath given her to them that love him.
11 Lo timor di Dio sì è gloria e glorianza e letizia e corona d' allegramento.	11 The fear of the Lord is honour, and glory, and gladness, and a crown of joy.
12 Lo timore di Dio diletterae il cuore, e daralli letizia e gaudio nella lunghezza delli dì.	12 The fear of the Lord shall delight the heart, and shall give joy, and gladness, and length of days.
13 A colui che temerà Iddio sarà bene nella fine, e nel dì della sua morte sarà benedetto.	13 With him that feareth the Lord, it shall go well in the latter end, and in the day of his death he shall be blessed.
14 La dilettazione di Dio sì è onorabile sapienza.	14 The love of God is honourable wisdom.
15 (A) coloro a cui ella apparisce in visione, amano quella nella visione, e nella cognizione delle sue maraviglie.	15 Ana they to whom she shall shew herself love her by the sight, and by the knowledge of her great works.
16 Il principio della sapienza sì è il timor di Dio, che colli (santi) fedeli insieme sì è creato nel ventre; e va colle elette femine, e cogli giusti e fedeli si conosce.	16 The fear of the Lord Is the beginning of wisdom, and was created with the faithful in the womb, it walketh with chosen women, and is known with the just and faithful.
17 Il timore di Dio sì è la religiositade di scienza.	17 The fear of the Lord is the religiousness of knowledge.
18 La religiosità guarderae e giustificherae il cuore, e daragli giocondità e gaudio.	18 Religiousness shall keep and justify the heart, it shall give joy and gladness.
19 Colui che temerae Iddio averà bene, e nelli dì della sua fine sarà benedetto.	19 It shall go well with him that feareth the Lord, and in the days of his end he shall be blessed.
20 La plenitudine della sapienza si è nel timore di Dio, e la plenitudine procede dalli frutti di quello.	20 To fear God is the fulness of wisdom, and fulness is from the fruits thereof.
21 Empierà lui tutta la casa di figliuoli, e là dove egli si ricetta sì empierà delli suoi tesori.	21 She shall fill all her house with her increase, and the storehouses with her treasures.
22 La corona della sapienza sì è il timore di Dio, riempiuta di pace e di frutti di salute.	22 The fear of the Lord is a crown of wisdom, filling up peace and the fruit of salvation:
23 E videla, e annumeroe quella; l'una e l'altra sono doni di Dio.	23 And it hath seen, and numbered her: but both are the gifts of God.
24 La sapienza compartirà la scienza e lo intelletto della prudenza; ed esalta la gloria di coloro che la tengono.	24 Wisdom shall distribute knowledge, and understanding of prudence: and exalteth the glory of them that hold her.
25 La radice della sapienza sì è temere Iddio; li rami suoi sono di lunga vita.	25 The root of wisdom is to fear the Lord: and the branches thereof are longlived.
26 Nelli tesori della sapienza sì è la religiositade dello intelletto e della scienza; una abbominazione è a' peccatori la sapienza.	26 In the treasures of wisdom is understanding, and religiousness of knowledge: but to sinners wisdom is an abomination.
27 Lo timore di Dio caccia il peccato.	27 The fear of the Lord driveth out sin:
28 Però chi è sanza il timore (di Dio) non potrà essere giustificato; la iracondia della animositade di colui è sovversione dello iracundo.	28 For he that is without fear, cannot be justified: for the wrath of his high spirits is his ruin.
29 Lo paziente sopporta insino al tempo; e poi a lui tornerae gioconditade.	29 A patient man shall bear for a time, and afterwards joy shall be restored to him.
30 Il buono senno asconderae infino al tempo le parole di colui; e (le lingue e) le labre di molti narreranno il senno di colui.	30 A good understanding will hide his words for a time, and the lips of many shall declare his wisdom.
31 La significazione della disciplina sì è nello tesauro della sapienza.	31 In the treasures of wisdom is the signification of discipline:
32 L'adorare Iddio pare una maledizione al peccatore.	32 But the worship of God is an abomination to a sinner.
33 O figliuolo, ama la sapienza e conserva la giustizia; e Iddio te la darae.	33 Son, if thou desire wisdom, keep justice, and God will give her to thee.
34 Sapienza e disciplina è il timor di Dio; e quello che piace a colui,	34 For the fear of the Lord is wisdom and discipline: and that which is agreeable to him,
35 fede e mansuetudine; e adempierà li tesauri di colui.	35 Is faith, and meekness: and he will fill up his treasures.
36 Non sii incredibile al timore di Dio; e non anderai a quello con doppio cuore.	36 Be not incredulous to the fear of the Lord: and come not to him with a double heart.
37 Non sarai ipocrito nel cospetto delli uomini; e non scandalizzare colle parole tue (gli uomini).	37 Be not a hypocrite in the sight of men, and let not thy lips be a stumblingblock to thee.
38 Guàrdati da quelli (che hanno doppio cuore) acciò che tu non caggia e adduchi morte all' anima tua,	38 Watch over them, lest thou fall, and bring dishonour upon thy soul,
39 e acciò che Iddio non riveli i tuoi secreti, e percuota te nel mezzo della sinagoga;	39 And God discover thy secrets, and cast thee down in the midst of the congregation.
40 per che tu andasti malignamente a Dio, e lo tuo cuore sì è pieno d'inganno e di fallacia.	40 Because thou camest to the Lord wickedly, and thy heart is full of guile and deceit.
