1 Or conoscesti lo [tempo del] parto della cicogna partoriente nelle pietre, e le partorienti cerve osservasti?	1 Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? or canst thou mark when the hinds do calve?
2 Annumerasti li mesi dello loro concepimento, e sapesti lo tempo dello loro parto?	2 Canst thou number the months that they fulfil? or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?
3 Inchinansi [al] lo parto, e partoriscono, e mandano ruggiti.	3 They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, they cast out their sorrows.
4 Spartonsi li loro figliuoli, e vanno a pascere; e non tornano a loro.	4 Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; they go forth, and return not unto them.
5 Chi lasciò l'asino libero, e li suoi legami chi discioglie?	5 Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass?
6 A cui diedi nella solitudine la casa, e li suoi tabernacoli nella terra di salsedine.	6 Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings.
7 Dispregia la moltitudine della cittade, lo grido dello riscotitore non ode.	7 He scorneth the multitude of the city, neither regardeth he the crying of the driver.
8 Ragguarda li monti della sua pastura, e domanda tutte le cose virenti.	8 The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.
9 Or vorrà lo unicorno servire a te, ovvero starà alla tua mangiatoia?	9 Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?
10 O ligherai lo unicorno alla tua brena per arare? ovver romperà la terra delle valli dopo a te?	10 Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?
11 Or (non) avrai tu fidanza nella sua grande fortezza, e lascerai a lui le tue (grandi) fatiche?	11 Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labour to him?
12 Or (non) crederai tu a lui, quando ti renderà la sementa, e l'aja tua ragunerà?	12 Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy barn?
13 La penna dello struzzo è simile alle penne dello erodio e dello sparviero,	13 Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?
14 lo quale abbandona nella terra l' uova sue; forse che tu le riscaldi nella polvere?	14 Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in dust,
15 Dimènticasi che lo piede le conculca, o che le bestie del campo le schiacciano.	15 And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.
16 Durerà a' suoi figliuoli, quasi come non sieno suoi; indarno s' affaticò, non lo costrignendo alcuno [timore].	16 She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not hers: her labour is in vain without fear;
17 E Iddio la privò della sapienza, nè non li diede intelligenza.	17 Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.
18 Quando lo tempo sarae, in alto l' ale dirizza; fassi beffe dello cavallo e dello suo salitore.	18 What time she lifteth up herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.
19 Or darai tu allo cavallo la forza, ovvero intornierai allo collo suo lo (suo) innito (ovver grido)?	19 Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?
20 Ovvero susciterai lui, quasi come grilli? la gloria delli nasi suoi è paura.	20 Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible.
21 Coll' unghia la terra cava, e rallegrasi arditamente, e va incontra agli armati.	21 He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.
22 Spregia lo spaventamento, nè dà luogo al coltello.	22 He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.
23 Sopra lui suonerà lo carcasso, e rilucerà l'asta e lo scudo.	23 The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield.
24 Stridando e gridando inghiottirà la terra, nè non reputa lo rumore dello suonare della tromba.	24 He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet.
25 Ove udirà li corni dirà, rallegrandosi dalla lunga presente è la battaglia, e lo confortare delli duchi e lo urlare dell' oste.	25 He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.
26 Or per la tua sapienza metterai la piuma allo sparviero, spandente le sue ali all' austro?	26 Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south?
27 Ovvero al tuo comandamento leverassi l'aquila, e nelli luoghi alti porrà lo suo nido?	27 Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?
28 Nelle pietre sta, e nelli luoghi pericolosi dimora, e nelli sassi alti dove non vi si puote andare.	28 She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.
29 Quivi contempla l'esca (a lui), e dalla lunga gli occhii suoi guardano.	29 From thence she seeketh the prey, and her eyes behold afar off.
30 Li suoi figliuoli leccano lo sangue; e dovunque sarà lo corpo morto, incontanente vi giugne.	30 Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.
31 E aggiunse Iddio, e favellò a Iob:
32 Or colui che contende con Dio, così agevolmente sta cheto? Adunque colui che riprende il nostro Signore Iddio, sì debbe risponder a lui.
33 Rispose Iob, e disse al Signore:
34 Quello che favellai lievemente, che posso io rispondere? La mia mano porrò sopra la mia bocca.
35 Una cosa favellai, che Dio il volesse ch' io non l'avessi detta; e un' altra cosa, alle quali non vi aggiugneroe.
