Psalmus. Canticum. Pro die Sabbati. | 1 A psalm. A sabbath song. |
Bonum est confiteri Domino et psallere nomini tuo, Altissime, | 2 It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praise to your name, Most High, |
annuntiare mane misericordiam tuam et veritatem tuam per noctem | 3 To proclaim your love in the morning, your faithfulness in the night, |
in decachordo et psalterio, cum cantico in cithara. | 4 With the ten-stringed harp, with melody upon the lyre. |
Quia delectasti me, Domine, in factura tua, et in operibus manuum tuarum exsultabo. | 5 For you make me jubilant, LORD, by your deeds; at the works of your hands I shout for joy. |
Quam magnificata sunt opera tua, Domine: nimis profundae factae sunt cogitationes tuae. | 6 How great are your works, LORD! How profound your purpose! |
Vir insipiens non cognoscet, et stultus non intelleget haec. | 7 A senseless person cannot know this; a fool cannot comprehend. |
Cum germinaverint peccatores sicut fenum, et floruerint omnes, qui operantur iniquitatem, hoc tamen erit ad interitum in saeculum saeculi; | 8 Though the wicked flourish like grass and all sinners thrive, They are destined for eternal destruction; |
tu autem altissimus in aeternum, Domine. | 9 for you, LORD, are forever on high. |
Quoniam ecce inimici tui, Domine, quoniam ecce inimici tui peribunt, et dispergentur omnes, qui operantur iniquitatem. | 10 Indeed your enemies, LORD, indeed your enemies shall perish; all sinners shall be scattered. |
Exaltabis sicut unicornis cornu meum, perfusus sum oleo uberi. | 11 You have given me the strength of a wild bull; you have poured rich oil upon me. |
Et despiciet oculus meus inimicos meos, et in insurgentibus in me malignantibus audiet auris mea. - | 12 My eyes look with glee on my wicked enemies; my ears delight in the fall of my foes. |
Iustus ut palma florebit, sicut cedrus Libani succrescet. | 13 The just shall flourish like the palm tree, shall grow like a cedar of Lebanon. |
Plantati in domo Domini, in atriis Dei nostri florebunt. | 14 Planted in the house of the LORD, they shall flourish in the courts of our God. |
Adhuc fructus dabunt in senecta, uberes et bene virentes erunt, | 15 They shall bear fruit even in old age, always vigorous and sturdy, |
ut annuntient quoniam rectus Dominus, refugium meum, et non est iniquitas in eo. | 16 As they proclaim: "The LORD is just; our rock, in whom there is no wrong." |
