NEW JERUSALEM	Біблія
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,	1 Промовив Господь до Мойсея:
2 'Exact the ful vengeance for the Israelites on the Midianites. Afterwards you will be gathered to yourpeople.'	2 «Помстись на мідіянах за синів Ізраїля, і тоді приєднаєшся до своїх предків.»
3 Moses said to the people, 'Some of you are to take up arms for Yahweh's campaign against Midian,to carry out the vengeance of Yahweh on Midian.	3 Тож Мойсей звернувся до народу: «Озбройте людей поміж вами на війну, і нехай ідуть на мідіян, щоб виконати Господню помсту на мідіянах.
4 You will put a thousand men in the field from each of the tribes of Israel.'	4 По тисячі чоловік із кожного коліна, від усіх колін Ізраїля, поставите до війська.»
5 In this way Israel's thousands provided twelve thousand men equipped for war, one thousand fromeach tribe:	5 І вибрали з-поміж тисяч Ізраїля по тисячі з коліна, 12 000 озброєних на війну.
6 Moses put them in the field, one thousand from each tribe, with Phinehas, son of the priest Eleazar,to go with them carrying the sacred objects and the trumpets for the battle cry.	6 І вислав Мойсей їх, по тисячі з коліна, на війну, їх і Пінхаса, сина священика Єлеазара; і святий посуд, і сурми для сполоху були з ним.
7 They made war on Midian, as Yahweh had ordered Moses, and put every male to death.	7 Вирушили вони в похід проти мідіян, як заповідав Господь Мойсеєві, і повбивали всіх чоловіків.
8 What is more, they kil ed the kings of Midian, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba, the five Midianite kings;they also put Balaam son of Beor to the sword.	8 Поміж іншими полеглими вбили вони царів мідіянських: Еві, Рекема, Цура, Хура та Реву — п’ятьох царів мідіянських; так само й Валаама, сина Беора, вбили вони мечем.
9 The Israelites took the Midianite women and their little ones captive and carried off al their cattle, altheir flocks and al their goods as booty.	9 Позабирали сини Ізраїля в полон мідіянське жіноцтво та дітей, і всю скотину, й отари та здобутки їхні пограбували.
10 They set fire to the towns where they lived and to al their encampments.	10 Усі ж міста їхні, де вони жили, з усіма їхніми оселями, спалили вогнем.
11 Then, taking al their booty, everything they had captured, human and animal,	11 Узяли вони всю здобич і все награбоване, людей і товар
12 they brought the captives, spoil and booty to Moses, the priest Eleazar and the whole community ofIsraelites at the camp on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan by Jericho.	12 та й привели бранців, награбоване й здобич до Мойсея та до Єлеазара священика й до громади синів Ізраїля у табір, на степах моавських, що над Йорданом, проти Єрихону.
13 Moses, the priest Eleazar and al the leaders of the community went out of the camp to meet them.	13 І вийшли Мойсей, священик Єлеазар та всі князі громадські аж поза табір їм назустріч.
14 Moses was enraged with the officers of the army, the commanders of the thousands andcommanders of the hundreds, who had come back from this military expedition.	14 І розгнівався Мойсей на воєводів, на тисячників та на сотників, які повернулися з військового походу,
15 He said, 'Why have you spared the life of al the women?	15 та й каже до них: «Ви зоставили живими всіх жінок.
16 They were the very ones who, on Balaam's advice, caused the Israelites to be unfaithful to Yahwehin the affair at Peor: hence the plague which struck Yahweh's community.	16 Таж то вони, за порадою Валаама, звели синів Ізраїля відступити від Господа заради Пеора; тим і кинулась пошесть на Господню громаду.
17 So kil al the male children and kil al the women who have ever slept with a man;	17 Тож повбивайте всіх дітей чоловічої статі й усіх жінок, що спізнали чоловіка, також повбивайте.
18 but spare the lives of the young girls who have never slept with a man, and keep them foryourselves.	18 А всіх дітей жіночої статі, що ще не знали чоловіка, позоставляйте живими для себе.
19 As for you, bivouac outside the camp for seven days, everyone who has kil ed anyone or touched acorpse. Purify yourselves and your prisoners on the third and seventh days,	19 Самі ж розташуйтеся поза табором сім день; кожен, хто вбив чоловіка, і кожен, хто приторкнувся до вбитого, — всі ви очиститесь на третій день і на сьомий, ви самі й бранці ваші.
20 and purify al clothing, everything made of skin, everything woven of goat's hair and everythingmade of wood.'	20 І всяку одіж і всяку річ із шкури й усе, що зроблено з козячої шерсти, ще й усяку дерев’яну посудину теж очистите.»
21 The priest Eleazar said to the soldiers who had come back from the campaign, 'This is an article ofthe Law which Yahweh prescribed to Moses:	21 А й священик Єлеазар сказав до бійців, що виправлялись у похід: «Ось установа закону, що Господь заповідав Мойсеєві:
22 although gold, silver, bronze, iron, tin and lead,	22 Золото, срібло, мідь, залізо, цинк та оливо,
23 everything that can withstand fire can be cleaned by being passed through fire, it must stil bepurified with water for purification. Whatever cannot resist fire you must pass through water.	23 усе, що витримує вогонь, переведете крізь вогонь, і буде воно чистим, та нехай буде очищене також і очищаючою водою; а все те, що не витримує вогню, переведете крізь воду.
24 'Wash your clothes on the seventh day and you wil then be clean. You may then re-enter the camp.'	24 Виперете на собі одяг сьомого дня і станете чисті, а тоді ввійдете до табору.»
25 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	25 Промовив Господь до Мойсея:
26 'With the priest Eleazar and the heads of families in the community, take a count of the spoils andcaptives, human and animal.	26 «Перелічіть, ти, Єлеазар священик і голови родин усієї громади, скільки було взято в полон людей та скотини,
27 You wil then share out the spoil, half and half, between those who fought the campaign and the restof the community.	27 і поділіть здобич по половині між тими, хто воювали, хто ходили в похід, та між рештою громади.
28 From the share of the combatants who took part in the campaign, you wil set aside one out of everyfive hundred persons, oxen, donkeys and sheep as Yahweh's portion.	28 Від бійців, що виправлялись у похід, візьмеш данину для Господа: одне з п’ятисот, з людей, з великої скотини, з ослів та з дрібної скотини.
29 You wil take this from the half share coming to them and give it to the priest Eleazar as the portionset aside for Yahweh.	29 Візьмеш її з їхньої половини та й оддаси священикові Єлеазарові — як жертву возношення Господеві.
30 From the half coming to the Israelites, you will take one out of every fifty persons, oxen, donkeys,sheep, and al other animals, and give them to the Levites who are responsible for Yahweh's Dwel ing.'	30 А з половини, що припаде синам Ізраїля, візьмеш одне з п’ятдесяти, з людей, з великої скотини, з ослів, з дрібної скотини та з усякої іншої скотини, і віддаси левітам, що пильнують службу біля Господнього житла.»
31 Moses and the priest Eleazar did as Yahweh had ordered Moses.	31 І зробили Мойсей та Єлеазар священик так, як заповідав Господь Мойсеєві.
32 The spoils, the remainder of the booty captured by the soldiers, came to six hundred and seventy-five thousand sheep and goats,	32 Було ж здобичі, що зосталась від захопленого військовим людом, дрібної скотини 675 000,
33 seventy-two thousand head of cattle,	33 великої скотини 72 000,
34 sixty-one thousand donkeys,	34 ослів 61 000,
35 and in persons, women who had never slept with a man, thirty-two thousand in al .	35 а жінок, що не знали чоловічого ложа, всіх 32 000 душ.
36 Half was assigned to those who had taken part in the war, namely three hundred and thirty-seventhousand five hundred sheep and goats,	36 Половина, тобто пай тих, що виправлялись на війну, була: дрібного скота 337500;
37 of which Yahweh's portion was six hundred and seventy-five,	37 а данина для Господа з дрібної скотини була 675;
38 thirty-six thousand head of cattle, of which Yahweh's portion was seventy-two,	38 великого скота 36000, а данина для Господа 72;
39 thirty thousand five hundred donkeys, of which Yahweh's portion was sixty-one,	39 ослів 30 500, а данина для Господа 61;
40 and sixteen thousand persons, of which Yahweh's portion was thirty-two.	40 людей же було 16000, а данина для Господа 32 душі.
41 Moses gave the priest Eleazar the portion set aside for Yahweh, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.	41 Мойсей же віддав священикові Єлеазарові данину на жертву возношення Господеві, як повелів Господь Мойсеєві.
42 As for the half coming to the Israelites which Moses had separated from that of the combatants,	42 А половина, що випала синам Ізраїля, яку Мойсей відділив від половини, що припала військовим людям,
43 this half, the community's share, came to three hundred and thirty-seven thousand five hundredsheep and goats,	43 тобто половина, що пішла громаді, була: дрібного скота 337 500;
44 thirty-six thousand head of cattle,	44 великого скота 36 000;
45 thirty thousand five hundred donkeys	45 ослів 30 500;
46 and sixteen thousand persons.	46 і людей 16000 душ.
47 From this half, the Israelites' share, Moses took one out of every fifty, human and animal, and gavethem to the Levites who were responsible for Yahweh's Dwel ing, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.	47 З половини, що випала синам Ізраїля, взяв Мойсей одне з п’ятидесяти, з людей та скотини, та й віддав левітам, що пильнували службу в Господній храмині, як заповідав Господь Мойсеєві.
48 The officers of the thousands who had fought the campaign, the commanders of the thousands andcommanders of the hundreds, came to Moses	48 Приступили до Мойсея воєводи, що проводили в поході, тисячники та сотники,
49 and said, 'Your servants have numbered the soldiers under their command: none of our men ismissing.	49 та й кажуть до нього: «Слуги твої перелічили всіх вояків, які були доручені нам, і не бракує в нас ні одного чоловіка.
50 So, as an offering for Yahweh, we have brought what each of us has found in the way of goldornaments, armlets and bracelets, rings, earrings and breastplates, to make expiation for ourselves beforeYahweh.'	50 отож ми й приносимо Господеві дар, що хто знайшов із золотих речей: обручки, ланцюжки, перстені, сережки й намиста, щоб відправити за наші душі покуту перед Господом.»
51 Moses and the priest Eleazar accepted this gold from them, al this jewel ery.	51 Мойсей же та Єлеазар священик узяли в них те золото: все то речі майстерної роботи.
52 This portion of gold given to Yahweh by the commanders of the thousands and commanders of thehundreds amounted to sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels.	52 Усього ж золота, що його тисячники та сотники принесли в жертву возношення Господеві, було 16 750 шеклів.
53 Each of the soldiers took his own booty.	53 А прості військові затримали взяту собі здобич, тільки для себе.
54 But Moses and the priest Eleazar, having accepted the gold from the commanders of the thousandsand commanders of the hundreds, brought it into the Tent of Meeting, to be a reminder of the Israelites beforeYahweh.	54 І взяли Мойсей та Єлеазар священик золото в тисячників і сотників та й внесли його у намет зборів — як спомин від синів Ізраїля перед Господом.
