1 Solomon then began building the house of Yahweh in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah where David hisfather had had a vision -- on the site which David had prepared -- on the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.	1 Hierauf begann Salomo den Tempel des HERRN in Jerusalem zu bauen auf dem Berge Morija, wo der HERR seinem Vater David erschienen war, auf dem Platze, den David dazu bestimmt hatte, nämlich auf der Tenne des Jebusiters Ornan (vgl. 1.Chr 21,18-22,1);
2 He began building it on the second day of the second month of the fourth year of his reign.	2 und zwar begann er den Bau am zweiten (Tage) im zweiten Monat, im vierten Jahre seiner Regierung.
3 These are the dimensions which Solomon fixed for the structure of the house of God: its length incubits, according to the old standard, was sixty cubits and its width twenty cubits;	3 Folgendes sind aber die Grundmaße, an welche Salomo sich beim Bau des Hauses Gottes hielt: die Länge betrug sechzig Ellen nach dem alten (d.h. mosaischen) Maß und die Breite zwanzig Ellen.
4 and the portico in front of the house was the ful width of the house, that is, twenty cubits, and its heightwas a hundred and twenty cubits; on the inside he overlaid it with pure gold.	4 Die Halle, die sich vor der Breitseite des Großraumes des Hauses befand, war 20 Ellen lang und 20 Ellen hoch; er ließ sie im Inneren mit reinem Golde überziehen.
5 The Great Hall he lined with juniper, which he overlaid with fine gold and ornamented with palm treesand festoons,	5 Den großen Tempelraum täfelte er mit Zypressenholz, überzog dieses sodann mit gediegenem Gold und brachte Palmen und Blumengewinde darauf an.
6 and he decorated the hall beautifully with precious stones and with gold from Parvaim,	6 Weiter überzog (oder: belegte) er das Tempelhaus mit kostbaren Steinen zum Schmuck; das Gold aber war Parwaimgold.
7 overlaying the hal , its beams and its thresholds, its walls and its doors, with gold and engraving thewal s with great winged creatures.	7 Auch überkleidete er im Tempelhause die Balken (der Decke), die Schwellen, seine Wände und Türen mit Gold und ließ Cherube an den Wänden einschnitzen.
8 He also made the Holy of Holies, the length of which corresponded to the width of the Great Hal , beingtwenty cubits, with a width of twenty cubits, and this he overlaid with fine gold weighing six hundred talents,	8 Dann stellte er den Raum des Allerheiligsten her, dessen Länge entsprechend der Breite des Tempelhauses 20 Ellen betrug; die Breite war auch 20 Ellen, und er ließ es mit feinem Gold im Betrage von sechshundert Talenten überziehen;
9 while the weight of the gold nails was fifty shekels. He also overlaid the upper rooms with gold.	9 das Gewicht der Nägel aber betrug fünfzig Schekel Gold. Auch die Obergemächer erhielten eine Bekleidung von Gold.
10 In the Holy of Holies he model ed two winged creatures of wrought metal work and overlaid them withgold.	10 Sodann ließ er im Raum des Allerheiligsten zwei Cherube herstellen, ein Werk der Bildhauerkunst, und man überzog sie mit Gold.
11 The total span of their wings was twenty cubits; one wing, being five cubits long, touched the wal ofthe house and the other wing, being five cubits long, touched the wing of the other winged creature;	11 Die Flügel der Cherube hatten eine Gesamtlänge von zwanzig Ellen; der fünf Ellen lange Flügel des einen Cherubs berührte die Wand des Raumes, während der andere, ebenfalls fünf Ellen lange Flügel an den Flügel des anderen Cherubs stieß.
12 while one wing of the other, five cubits long, touched the other wall of the house and the other wing,five cubits long, touched the wing of the other winged creature.	12 Ebenso reichte der eine, fünf Ellen lange Flügel des zweiten Cherubs bis an die Wand des Raumes, während der andere, gleichfalls fünf Ellen lange Flügel an den Flügel des ersten Cherubs stieß,
13 The spread of these creatures' wings was twenty cubits. They stood in an upright position, with theirfaces towards the Hall.	13 so daß die Flügel dieser beiden Cherube ausgebreitet zwanzig Ellen maßen. Sie selbst aber standen aufrecht auf ihren Füßen, und ihre Gesichter waren dem Innenraum des Tempels zugewandt.
14 He also made the Curtain of violet, scarlet, crimson and fine linen, working a design of wingedcreatures on it.	14 Weiter ließ er einen Vorhang von blauem und rotem Purpur, von karmesinfarbigem Stoff und Byssus herstellen und brachte Cherube darauf an.
15 In front of the Hal he made two pil ars thirty-five cubits high, and on the top of each a capitalmeasuring five cubits.	15 Dann ließ er vor dem Tempelhause zwei Säulen herstellen; sie waren 35 Ellen lang (= hoch), und der Knauf oben darauf maß 5 Ellen;
16 He made festoons, in the Debir, to go at the tops of the pil ars, and made a hundred pomegranates togo on the festoons.	16 auch ließ er Kettenwerk für den unteren Saum der Knäufe anfertigen und es oben an den Säulen anbringen; an die Ketten aber tat er hundert kunstvoll gearbeitete Granatäpfel.
17 He erected the pil ars in front of the Temple, one on the right, the other on the left; the one on the righthe cal ed Jachin and the one on the left, Boaz.	17 Die Säulen ließ er dann auf der Vorderseite des Tempels aufstellen, die eine rechts, die andere links; und die rechtsstehende nannte er Jachin (d.h. er gründet fest), die linksstehende Boas (d.h. in ihm ist Kraft).
