1 Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that, behold, the place was a place for cattle;	1 Os filhos de Ruben e de Gad tinham muitos rebanhos e uma imensa riqueza em gados. Tendo visto que as terras de Jazer e de Galaad eram próprias para sustentar animais,
2 The children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spake unto Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and unto the princes of the congregation, saying,	2 foram ter com Moisés, com o sacerdote Eleázaro e com os príncipes do povo, e disseram:
3 Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Shebam, and Nebo, and Beon,	3 Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nemra, Hesebon, Eleale, Saban, Nebo e Beom,
4 Even the country which the LORD smote before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle:	4 terras que o Senhor feriu à vista dos filhos de Israel, são um país fertilíssimo para o pasto dos animais. Como nós, teus servos, temos muitos gados,
5 Wherefore, said they, if we have found grace in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession, and bring us not over Jordan.	5 pedimos-te, se achamos graça diante de ti, que dês a teus servos a sua posse, e não nos faças passar o Jordão.
6 And Moses said unto the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here?	6 Moisés respondeu-lhes: Irão vossos irmãos para a batalha, e vós ficareis aqui?
7 And wherefore discourage ye the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which the LORD hath given them?	7 Por que quereis tirar ânimo aos filhos de Israel, para que não passem ao país que o Senhor lhes dará?
8 Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land.	8 Não foi assim que procederam os vossos pais, quando eu os mandei de Cadesbarne a reconhecer a terra?
9 For when they went up unto the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which the LORD had given them.	9 Depois de terem chegado ao Vale do Cacto, depois de terem percorrido toda aquela região, tiraram a coragem aos filhos de Israel, para que não entrassem na terra que o Senhor lhes deu.
10 And the LORD's anger was kindled the same time, and he sware, saying,	10 Ele, irado, jurou dizendo:
11 Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:	11 Estes homens, que saíram do Egito, de vinte anos para cima, não verão a terra que eu prometi com juramento a Abraão, a Isaac e a Jacob, porque não quiseram seguir-me,
12 Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua the son of Nun: for they have wholly followed the LORD.	12 excepto Caleb, filho de Jefone Cenezeu, e Josué, filho de Nun; estes cumpriram a minha vontade.
13 And the LORD's anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the LORD, was consumed.	13 E o Senhor, irado contra Israel, fê-lo andar errante pelo deserto durante quarenta anos, até que fosse extinta toda a geração, que tinha feito o mal na sua presença.
14 And, behold, ye are risen up in your fathers' stead, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of the LORD toward Israel.	14 Agora, prosseguiu Moisés, vos levantastes vós em lugar dos vossos pais, como renovos e descendência de homens pecadores, para aumentardes o furor do Senhor contra Israel.
15 For if ye turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and ye shall destroy all this people.	15 Se não quiserdes segui-lo, ele deixará o povo no deserto, e vós sereis a causa do extermínio de todos.
16 And they came near unto him, and said, We will build sheepfolds here for our cattle, and cities for our little ones:	16 Mas eles, aproximando-se, disseram: Edificaremos currais para as nossas ovelhas, estábulos para os nossos animais, cidades fortes para os nossos filhinhos;
17 But we ourselves will go ready armed before the children of Israel, until we have brought them unto their place: and our little ones shall dwell in the fenced cities because of the inhabitants of the land.	17 nós, porém, armados e prontos, iremos ao combate na frente dos filhos de Israel, até os introduziremos nos seus lugares. (Entretanto) as nossas crianças, e tudo o que podemos possuir, ficarão nas cidades fortificadas, por causa das ciladas dos habitantes do pais.
18 We will not return unto our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance.	18 Não voltaremos para as nossas casas, enquanto os filhos de Israel não estiverem de posse da sua herança:
19 For we will not inherit with them on yonder side Jordan, or forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side Jordan eastward.	19 nem pretenderemos coisa alguma do lado de lá do Jordão, visto que já temos a nossa porção na sua margem oriental.
20 And Moses said unto them, If ye will do this thing, if ye will go armed before the LORD to war,	20 Moisés respondeu-lhes: Se vós fazeis o que prometeis, marchai em presença do Senhor prontos para a batalha:
21 And will go all of you armed over Jordan before the LORD, until he hath driven out his enemies from before him,	21 todo o homem apto para a guerra passe armado o Jordão, até que o Senhor destrua os seus inimigos,
22 And the land be subdued before the LORD: then afterward ye shall return, and be guiltless before the LORD, and before Israel; and this land shall be your possession before the LORD.	22 e todo o pais lhe fique submetido; então sereis irrepreensíveis diante do Senhor e diante de Israel, e possuireis as terras que desejais, diante do Senhor.
23 But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.	23 Mas, se não fizerdes o que dizeis, não há dúvida que pecareis contra Deus, e ficai sabendo que o vosso pecado vos há-de atingir.
24 Build you cities for your little ones, and folds for your sheep; and do that which hath proceeded out of your mouth.	24 Edificai, pois, cidades para os vossos filhinhos, currais, e estábulos para as ovelhas e animais, e cumpri o que prometestes.
25 And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben spake unto Moses, saying, Thy servants will do as my lord commandeth.	25 Os filhos de Gad e de Ruben disseram a Moisés: Somos teus servos, teremos o que nosso Senhor manda.
26 Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our cattle, shall be there in the cities of Gilead:	26 Deixaremos nas cidades de Galaad os nossos filhinhos, mulheres, rebanhos e gados;
27 But thy servants will pass over, every man armed for war, before the LORD to battle, as my lord saith.	27 nós todos, porém, teus servos, iremos prontos para a guerra, como tu, Senhor, dizes.
28 So concerning them Moses commanded Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the chief fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel:	28 Moisés, pois, ordenou ao sacerdote Eleáraro, a Josué, filho de Nun, e aos chefes de família das tribos de Israel, dizendo-lhes:
29 And Moses said unto them, If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben will pass with you over Jordan, every man armed to battle, before the LORD, and the land shall be subdued before you; then ye shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession:	29 Se os filhos de Gad e os filhos de Ruben passarem convosco o Jordão todos armados para pelejar diante do Senhor, e se vos for sujeita, a terra, dai-lhes a posse de Galaad.
30 But if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan.	30 Mas, se eles não quiserem passar armados convosco à terra de Canaan, recebam entre vós os lugares da sua morada.
31 And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, As the LORD hath said unto thy servants, so will we do.	31 Os filhos de Gad e os filhos de Ruben responderam: Faremos como o Senhor disse a seus servos.
32 We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of Canaan, that the possession of our inheritance on this side Jordan may be ours.	32 Iremos armados diante do Senhor para a terra de Canaan, e a nossa herança será da banda daquém do Jordão.
33 And Moses gave unto them, even to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and unto half the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, with the cities thereof in the coasts, even the cities of the country round about.	33 Deu Moisés aos filhos de Gad e de Ruben e à meia tribo de Manassés, filho de José, o reino de Seon, rei dos Amorreus, e o reino de Og, rei de Basan, e o seu território com as suas cidades à volta.
34 And the children of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,	34 Pelo que os filhos de Gad, reedificaram Dibon, Ataroth, Aroer,
35 And Atroth, Shophan, and Jaazer, and Jogbehah,	35 Ataroth-Sofan, Jazer, Jegbaa,
36 And Beth-nimrah, and Beth-haran, fenced cities: and folds for sheep.	36 Betnemra e Betaran, cidades fortificadas, e fabricaram currais para os seus gados.
37 And the children of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kirjathaim,	37 Os filhos de Ruben reedificaram Hesebon, Eleale, Cariataim,
38 And Nebo, and Baal-meon, (their names being changed,) and Shibmah: and gave other names unto the cities which they builded.	38 Nabo e Baalmecon, mudando-lhes os nomes; e também Sabama, pondo novos nomes às cidades que reedificaram.
39 And the children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, and took it, and dispossessed the Amorite which was in it.	39 Os filhos de Maquir, filho de Manassés, passaram ao país de Galaad, e devastaram-no, matando os Amorreus que o habitavam.
40 And Moses gave Gilead unto Machir the son of Manasseh; and he dwelt therein.	40 Deu Moisés o país de Galaad a Maquir, filho de Manassés, que habitou nele.
41 And Jair the son of Manasseh went and took the small towns thereof, and called them Havoth-jair.	41 Depois Jair, filho de Manassés, foi e ocupou as suas aldeias, às quais deu o nome de Havoth-Jair, que quer dizer as aldeias de Jair.
42 And Nobah went and took Kenath, and the villages thereof, and called it Nobah, after his own name.	42 Foi também Nobe, e tomou Canath com as suas aldeias e chamou-a Nobe, do seu nome.
