1 Poème. D'Etân l'indigène.	1 A Maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of thy steadfast love, O LORD, for ever; with my mouth I will proclaim thy faithfulness to all generations.
2 L'amour de Yahvé à jamais je le chante, d'âge en âge ma parole annonce ta vérité.	2 For thy steadfast love was established for ever, thy faithfulness is firm as the heavens.
3 Car tu as dit: l'amour est bâti à jamais, les cieux, tu fondes en eux ta vérité.	3 Thou hast said, "I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David my servant:
4 "J'ai fait une alliance avec mon élu, j'ai juré à David mon serviteur:	4 'I will establish your descendants for ever, and build your throne for all generations.'" [Selah]
5 A tout jamais j'ai fondé ta lignée, je te bâtis d'âge en âge un trône."	5 Let the heavens praise thy wonders, O LORD, thy faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones!
6 Les cieux rendent grâce pour ta merveille, Yahvé, pour ta vérité, dans l'assemblée des saints.	6 For who in the skies can be compared to the LORD? Who among the heavenly beings is like the LORD,
7 Qui donc en les nues se compare à Yahvé, s'égale à Yahvé parmi les fils des dieux?	7 a God feared in the council of the holy ones, great and terrible above all that are round about him?
8 Dieu redoutable au conseil des saints, grand et terrible à tout son entourage,	8 O LORD God of hosts, who is mighty as thou art, O LORD, with thy faithfulness round about thee?
9 Yahvé, Dieu Sabaot, qui est comme toi? Yahvé puissant, que ta vérité entoure!	9 Thou dost rule the raging of the sea; when its waves rise, thou stillest them.
10 C'est toi qui maîtrises l'orgueil de la mer, quand ses flots se soulèvent, c'est toi qui les apaises;	10 Thou didst crush Rahab like a carcass, thou didst scatter thy enemies with thy mighty arm.
11 c'est toi qui fendis Rahab comme un cadavre, dispersas tes adversaires par ton bras de puissance.	11 The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine; the world and all that is in it, thou hast founded them.
12 A toi le ciel, à toi aussi la terre, le monde et son contenu, c'est toi qui les fondas;	12 The north and the south, thou hast created them; Tabor and Hermon joyously praise thy name.
13 le nord et le midi, c'est toi qui les créas, le Tabor et l'Hermon à ton nom crient de joie.	13 Thou hast a mighty arm; strong is thy hand, high thy right hand.
14 A toi ce bras et sa prouesse, puissante est ta main, sublime est ta droite;	14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of thy throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before thee.
15 Justice et Droit sont l'appui de ton trône, Amour et Vérité marchent devant ta face.	15 Blessed are the people who know the festal shout, who walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance,
16 Heureux le peuple qui sait l'acclamation! Yahvé, à la clarté de ta face ils iront;	16 who exult in thy name all the day, and extol thy righteousness.
17 en ton nom ils jubilent tout le jour, en ta justice ils s'exaltent.	17 For thou art the glory of their strength; by thy favor our horn is exalted.
18 L'éclat de leur puissance, c'est toi, dans ta faveur tu exaltes notre vigueur;	18 For our shield belongs to the LORD, our king to the Holy One of Israel.
19 car à Yahvé est notre bouclier; à lui, Saint d'Israël, est notre roi.	19 Of old thou didst speak in a vision to thy faithful one, and say: "I have set the crown upon one who is mighty, I have exalted one chosen from the people.
20 Jadis, en vision, tu as parlé et tu as dit à tes amis: "J'ai prêté assistance à un preux, j'ai exalté uncadet de mon peuple.	20 I have found David, my servant; with my holy oil I have anointed him;
21 J'ai trouvé David mon serviteur, je l'ai oint de mon huile sainte;	21 so that my hand shall ever abide with him, my arm also shall strengthen him.
22 pour lui ma main sera ferme, mon bras aussi le rendra fort.	22 The enemy shall not outwit him, the wicked shall not humble him.
23 L'adversaire ne pourra le tromper, le pervers ne pourra l'accabler;	23 I will crush his foes before him and strike down those who hate him.
24 j'écraserai devant lui ses agresseurs, ses ennemis, je les frapperai.	24 My faithfulness and my steadfast love shall be with him, and in my name shall his horn be exalted.
25 Ma vérité et mon amour avec lui, par mon nom s'exaltera sa vigueur;	25 I will set his hand on the sea and his right hand on the rivers.
26 j'établirai sa main sur la mer et sur les fleuves sa droite.	26 He shall cry to me, 'Thou art my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.'
27 Il m'appellera: Toi, mon père, mon Dieu et le rocher de mon salut!	27 And I will make him the first-born, the highest of the kings of the earth.
28 si bien que j'en ferai l'aîné, le très-haut sur les rois de la terre.	28 My steadfast love I will keep for him for ever, and my covenant will stand firm for him.
29 A jamais je lui garde mon amour, mon alliance est pour lui véridique;	29 I will establish his line for ever and his throne as the days of the heavens.
30 j'ai pour toujours établi sa lignée, et son trône comme les jours des cieux.	30 If his children forsake my law and do not walk according to my ordinances,
31 Si ses fils abandonnent ma loi, ne marchent pas selon mes jugements,	31 if they violate my statutes and do not keep my commandments,
32 s'ils profanent mes préceptes et ne gardent pas mes commandements,	32 then I will punish their transgression with the rod and their iniquity with scourges;
33 je visiterai avec des verges leur péché, avec des coups leur méfait,	33 but I will not remove from him my steadfast love, or be false to my faithfulness.
34 mais sans retirer de lui mon amour, sans faillir dans ma vérité.	34 I will not violate my covenant, or alter the word that went forth from my lips.
35 Point ne profanerai mon alliance, ne dédirai le souffle de mes lèvres;	35 Once for all I have sworn by my holiness; I will not lie to David.
36 une fois j'ai juré par ma sainteté: mentir à David, jamais!	36 His line shall endure for ever, his throne as long as the sun before me.
37 Sa lignée à jamais sera, et son trône comme le soleil devant moi,	37 Like the moon it shall be established for ever; it shall stand firm while the skies endure. " [Selah]
38 comme est fondée la lune à jamais, témoin véridique dans la nue."	38 But now thou hast cast off and rejected, thou art full of wrath against thy anointed.
39 Mais toi, tu as rejeté et répudié, tu t'es emporté contre ton oint;	39 Thou hast renounced the covenant with thy servant; thou hast defiled his crown in the dust.
40 tu as renié l'alliance de ton serviteur, tu as profané jusqu'à terre son diadème.	40 Thou hast breached all his walls; thou hast laid his strongholds in ruins.
41 Tu as fait brèche à toutes ses clôtures, tu as mis en ruines ses lieux forts;	41 All that pass by despoil him; he has become the scorn of his neighbors.
42 tous les passants du chemin l'ont pillé, ses voisins en ont fait une insulte.	42 Thou hast exalted the right hand of his foes; thou hast made all his enemies rejoice.
43 Tu as donné la haute main à ses agresseurs, tu as mis en joie tous ses adversaires;	43 Yea, thou hast turned back the edge of his sword, and thou hast not made him stand in battle.
44 tu as brisé son épée contre le roc, tu ne l'as pas épaulé dans le combat.	44 Thou hast removed the scepter from his hand, and cast his throne to the ground.
45 Tu as ôté son sceptre de splendeur, renversé son trône jusqu'à terre;	45 Thou hast cut short the days of his youth; thou hast covered him with shame. [Selah]
46 tu as écourté les jours de sa jeunesse, étalé sur lui la honte.	46 How long, O LORD? Wilt thou hide thyself for ever? How long will thy wrath burn like fire?
47 Jusques à quand, Yahvé, seras-tu caché? Jusqu'à la fin? Brûlera-t-elle comme un feu, ta colère?	47 Remember, O Lord, what the measure of life is, for what vanity thou hast created all the sons of men!
48 Souviens-toi de moi: quelle est ma durée? Pour quel néant as-tu créé les fils d'Adam?	48 What man can live and never see death? Who can deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? [Selah]
49 Qui donc vivra sans voir la mort, soustraira son âme à la griffe du shéol?	49 Lord, where is thy steadfast love of old, which by thy faithfulness thou didst swear to David?
50 Où sont les prémices de ton amour, Seigneur? Tu as juré à David sur ta vérité.	50 Remember, O Lord, how thy servant is scorned; how I bear in my bosom the insults of the peoples,
51 Souviens-toi, Seigneur, de l'insulte à ton serviteur: je reçois en mon sein tous les traits despeuples;	51 with which thy enemies taunt, O LORD, with which they mock the footsteps of thy anointed.
52 ainsi tes adversaires, Yahvé, ont insulté, ainsi insulté les traces de ton oint!	52 Blessed be the LORD for ever! Amen and Amen.
53 Béni soit Yahvé à jamais! Amen! Amen!
