| 2 E dièdegli Iddio nelle mani di Iabin re di Canaan, il quale regnò in Asor; ed ebbe per duca (e mariscalco) dell' oste suo uno il quale avea nome Sisara; ma egli sì abitava (e istava) in Aroset, (la quale si chiamava) cittade di genti. | 2 And the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor; the commander of his army was Sisera, who dwelt in Harosheth-ha-goiim. |
| 3 E (gridarono e) chiamarono a Dio Signore i figliuoli d' Israel; imperciò che questo re Iabin avea novecento carri, tutti foderati (nelle ruote e nel mezzo) di coltelli agutissimi e taglienti; e bene per ispazio di XX anni avea soggiogati i figliuoli d' Israel. | 3 Then the people of Israel cried to the LORD for help; for he had nine hundred chariots of iron, and oppressed the people of Israel cruelly for twenty years. |
| 4 Ed era una donna, la quale si chiamava Debora, moglie di Lapidot; e sì era profetessa; e sì avea giudicato (e signoreggiato) il popolo d' Israel in quel tempo. | 4 Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at that time. |
| 5 E sedea (e stava) sotto una palma, la quale sì era chiamata secondo il suo nome, in mezzo di Rama e Betel nel monte di Efraim: e salivano suso a lei i figliuoli d' Israel per ogni loro giudizio (e ragione e piato). | 5 She used to sit under the palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim; and the people of Israel came up to her for judgment. |
| 6 La quale sì mandò e chiamò Barac figliuolo di Abinoem, nella contrada di Neftali, e sì gli disse: Iddio Signore d' Israel t' ha fatto il comandamento: va, e sì mena l'oste (e conducilo) nel monte di Tabor; e torrai teco dieci milia uomini combattitori, cioè di quelli de' figliuoli di Neftali e de' figliuoli di Zabulon. | 6 She sent and summoned Barak the son of Abino-am from Kedesh in Naphtali, and said to him, "The LORD, the God of Israel, commands you, 'Go, gather your men at Mount Tabor, taking ten thousand from the tribe of Naphtali and the tribe of Zebulun. |
| 7 E io ti menerò (incontanente) nel luogo del torrente (dell' acqua) di Cison, Sisara principe dell' oste del re Iabin, e tutti i suoi carri armati, e tutta la sua moltitudine (dell' oste); e sì gli metterò (e darogli) nelle mani tue. | 7 And I will draw out Sisera, the general of Jabin's army, to meet you by the river Kishon with his chariots and his troops; and I will give him into your hand.'" |
| 8 E dissele Barac: se tu vieni meco, io sì ci anderò; se tu non verrai, non v' anderò. | 8 Barak said to her, "If you will go with me, I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go." |
| 9 La quale sì gli disse: ecco ch' io verrò teco, ma in questa volta non ti sarà reputato a vittoria; imperciò che Sisara (principe dell' oste di Iabin) sì sarà dato (e messo) in mano di femina. E levossi suso Debora, e andò insieme con Barac nella città di Cedes. | 9 And she said, "I will surely go with you; nevertheless, the road on which you are going will not lead to your glory, for the LORD will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman." Then Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh. |
| 10 Il quale, chiamato Zabulon e Neftali, vennero suso con lui dieci milia uomini (di buoni) combattitori, avendo Debora per sua compagnia. | 10 And Barak summoned Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; and ten thousand men went up at his heels; and Deborah went up with him. |
| 11 Ma Aber Cineo sì s' era partito da tutti i Cinei, i quali erano suoi fratelli, figliuoli di Obab cognato di Moisè; e avea tesi i suoi tabernacoli (e trabacche) insino alla valle la quale si chiama Sennim, ed era a lato di Cedes. | 11 Now Heber the Kenite had separated from the Kenites, the descendants of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent as far away as the oak in Za-anannim, which is near Kedesh. |
| 12 E fue annunziato (e riportato) a Sisara, come Barac figliuolo di Abinoem sì era salito nel monte di Tabor. | 12 When Sisera was told that Barak the son of Abino-am had gone up to Mount Tabor, |
| 13 E congregò novecento carri, tutti armati (dal lato dentro nel mezzo delle ruote) di coltelli taglienti e appuntati (ai quali persona nè cavallo si potea accostare) e poi tutto quanto l'altro oste della cittade di Aroset, (la quale si chiama) città di genti, insino al torrente (dell' acqua) di Cison. | 13 Sisera called out all his chariots, nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the men who were with him, from Harosheth-ha-goiim to the river Kishon. |
| 14 E disse Debora a Barac : lièvati suso, imperciò che questo si è il dì nel quale Iddio Signore si ha dato (e messo) nelle vostre mani Sisara; ecco che Iddio sì è tua guida. E scese Barac del monte di Tabor, e con lui insieme dieci milia combattitori. | 14 And Deborah said to Barak, "Up! For this is the day in which the LORD has given Sisera into your hand. Does not the LORD go out before you?" So Barak went down from Mount Tabor with ten thousand men following him. |
| 15 E mise Iddio Signore uno grande isbigottimento (e paura) a Sisara e a tutti i suoi carri armati e a tutto il suo oste, (e tutta quella moltitudine fu isconfitta, e messa) alle punta delle coltella, dinanzi alla faccia di Barac; intanto che Sisara, cadendo a terra del suo carro armato, si messe a fuggire a piedi. | 15 And the LORD routed Sisera and all his chariots and all his army before Barak at the edge of the sword; and Sisera alighted from his chariot and fled away on foot. |
| 16 E poi Barac sì perseguitò e cacciò i nemici, e coloro che fuggivano e tutta l' oste, insino ad Aroset, città di genti; e tutta la moltitudine dell' oste (quanti ne giunse) mise alle punte delle coltella. | 16 And Barak pursued the chariots and the army to Harosheth-ha-goiim, and all the army of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword; not a man was left. |
| 17 Ma Sisara, fuggendo, sì venne al paviglione (e al tabernacolo) di Iael, moglie di Aber Cineo. E sì era pace tra Iabin re d' Asor, e la casa di Aber Cineo. | 17 But Sisera fled away on foot to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite; for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite. |
| 18 E uscìo Iael incontro a Sisara (quando fuggiva) e sì gli disse: vieni a casa mia ed entra dentro, signore mio, e non avere paura. Il quale essendo entrato dentro nel tabernacolo suo, ed ella lo avesse coperto con uno mantello, | 18 And Jael came out to meet Sisera, and said to him, "Turn aside, my lord, turn aside to me; have no fear." So he turned aside to her into the tent, and she covered him with a rug. |
| 19 sì le disse Sisara: dàmmi, priegoti, uno poco d'acqua, perciò che io hoe una grande sete. La quale sì aperse uno otre, il quale sì era pieno di latte, e sì gli diede bere, e poi sì il coprì. | 19 And he said to her, "Pray, give me a little water to drink; for I am thirsty." So she opened a skin of milk and gave him a drink and covered him. |
| 20 E dissele Sisara: istà dinanzi all' uscio del tabernacolo, e se alcuna persona ci venisse, e addomandasseti e dicesse: dimmi se qui dentro è persona, sì gli rispondi (e dirai): non ci è alcuna persona. | 20 And he said to her, "Stand at the door of the tent, and if any man comes and asks you, 'Is any one here?' say, No." |
| 21 E tolse Iael, moglie di Aber, il chiavistello (dell' uscio) del tabernacolo, pigliando insieme uno buono martello; ed entrata dentro (nel tabernacolo), sì si nascose; e pianamente che non la sentio Sisara, sì puose sopra la tempia di Sisara questo chiavistello; e percuotendovi suso del martello, sì glielo conficcò insino nel cervello, e passò dall'altro lato (e conficcollo) in terra; il quale accompagnando la dolcezza del [sonno colla] morte, sì morì. | 21 But Jael the wife of Heber took a tent peg, and took a hammer in her hand, and went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple, till it went down into the ground, as he was lying fast asleep from weariness. So he died. |
| 22 E venia Barac perseguitando Sisara; e andogli incontro Iael, e sì gli disse: vieni, e mostrerotti quello uomo il quale tu vai cercando. Il quale essendo entrato dentro colà, sì vide Sisara che istava in terra morto, e il chiavistello confitto nella sua tempia. | 22 And behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael went out to meet him, and said to him, "Come, and I will show you the man whom you are seeking." So he went in to her tent; and there lay Sisera dead, with the tent peg in his temple. |
| 23 E umiliò, in quel dì, Dio Signore Iabin [re] di Canaan dinanzi ai figliuoli d' Israel. | 23 So on that day God subdued Jabin the king of Canaan before the people of Israel.24 And the hand of the people of Israel bore harder and harder on Jabin the king of Canaan, until they destroyed Jabin king of Canaan. |
| 24 I quali continuamente crescevano (e moltiplicavano); e in mano forte sì soggiogavano Iabin, re di Canaan, insino a tanto che (l' uccidessero, e) di terra lo spiantassero. | |
