BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Fratelli, (sappiate per certo, che) la volontà del mio cuore e lo mio prego a Dio sì è per lo salvamento (di giustizia).	1 Brothers, my dearest wish and my prayer to God is for them, that they may be saved.
2 Ma sì io vi rendo testimonianza di loro, che egli sèguitano Dio, ma non secondo (che debbono e secondo) coscienza.	2 I readily testify to their fervour for God, but it is misguided.
3 Chè egli non cognoscono la via della giustizia, ed ei si tengono giusti, e alla giustizia di Dio non sottoposti (nè subbietti).	3 Not recognising God's saving justice they have tried to establish their own, instead of submitting tothe saving justice of God.
4 Chè la fine della legge di Cristo sì fa giusto ogni uomo che vi crede.	4 But the Law has found its fulfilment in Christ so that al who have faith wil be justified.
5 Chè Moisè scrisse (e disse): chi farà la giustizia della legge, sì viverà in quella.	5 Moses writes of the saving justice that comes by the Law and says that whoever complies with it wilfind life in it.
6 Ma la giustizia, ch' è [del] la fede, sì dice così: non dicerai nel tuo cuore: chi averà a salire in cielo? cioè, Cristo menare.	6 But the saving justice of faith says this: Do not think in your heart, 'Who wil go up to heaven?' --
7 Ovver chi discenderà nell' abisso? cioè, resuscitare Cristo della morte.	7 that is to bring Christ down; or 'Who wil go down to the depths?' -- that is to bring Christ back fromthe dead.
8 Ma che dice la scrittura? Presso è la parola nella tua bocca e nel tuo cuore; ciò è la parola dalla fede, la quale predichiamo.	8 What does it say, then? The word is very near to you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, that is, theword of faith, the faith which we preach,
9 Imperò che se tu confesserai il nostro Signore Iesù Cristo colla tua bocca, e nel tuo cuore crederai che Dio lo resuscitò da morte, tu sarai salvo.	9 that if you declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and if you believe with your heart that Godraised him from the dead, then you wil be saved.
10 Chè col cuore si crede alla giustizia; e con la bocca si fa confessione, che si pertiene alla salute.	10 It is by believing with the heart that you are justified, and by making the declaration with your lipsthat you are saved.
11 Chè la Scrittura sì dice: ogni uomo che crederà a lui, non riceverà la vergogna.	11 When scripture says: No one who relies on this wil be brought to disgrace,
12 Certamente non è disuguaglianza dal giudeo al greco; imperocchè è uno Signore di tutti, il quale è ricco a tutti coloro che a lui chiamano.	12 it makes no distinction between Jew and Greek: the same Lord is the Lord of all, and his generosityis offered to al who appeal to him,
13 Chè ogni uomo che chiamerà il nome del Signore, sarà salvo.	13 for al who cal on the name of the Lord wil be saved.
14 Ma come chiameranno e pregheranno coloro i quali non hanno udito? e come se l'udiranno, se non è loro predicato?	14 How then are they to call on him if they have not come to believe in him? And how can they believein him if they have never heard of him? And how wil they hear of him unless there is a preacher for them?
15 E come predicheranno, se non son loro mandati li predicatori? secondo ch' è scritto: oh come son belli li piedi di coloro che annunziano (Cristo ch' è) pace, e prèdicano le cose buone!	15 And how wil there be preachers if they are not sent? As scripture says: How beautiful are the feet ofthe messenger of good news.
16 Ma tutti non obbediscono all' evangelio (e alla predicazione). Imperò che Isaia dice: Signore, chi crede alle parole che odono da noi? (e il braccio del Signore a cui è rivelato?)	16 But in fact they have not all responded to the good news. As Isaiah says: Lord, who has givencredence to what they have heard from us?
17 Adunque la fede viene per udire, e l' udire per la predicazione di Cristo.	17 But it is in that way faith comes, from hearing, and that means hearing the word of Christ.
18 Ma io sì dico: non hanno egli udito? Certo che per tutti è uscito il suono della predicazione, e insino in capo al mondo si son udite le loro parole.	18 Wel then, I say, is it possible that they have not heard? Indeed they have: in the entire earth theirvoice stands out, their message reaches the whole world.
19 Ma io sì dico: pensate voi che la terra d' Israel (e la schiatta de' iudei) non cognoscesse? (Il grande) Moisè sì dice: io voi menerò in quella gente che non è mia gente (ad avere in odio), e metterò voi (iudei) in ira (e in odio) a quella gente che non è savia.	19 Wel , another question, then: is it possible that Israel did not understand? In the first place Mosessaid: I shal rouse you to jealousy with a non-people, I shal exasperate you with a stupid nation.
20 E Isaia sì dice (in persona di Dio): io sì son trovato da coloro che non mi dimandavano; son apparito e appalesato a coloro che non cercavano per me.	20 And Isaiah is even bold enough to say: I have let myself be found by those who did not seek me; Ihave let myself be seen by those who did not consult me;
21 Ma a' figliuoli d' Israel sì dice (Iddio): tutto il dì espandetti le mie mani al popolo che non credea, anzi mi dicea incontra.	21 and referring to Israel, he says: Al day long I have been stretching out my hands to a disobedientand rebel ious people.
