| 1 Se l'uomo avrà tolto moglie, e avralla avuta al suo piacere, ed ella non l'avrà grazia dinanzi (a lui e dinanzi (alli suoi occhii) per alcuna sozzura (o magagna) la quale ella abbia, (esso suo marito) sì farà il libro (o la carta) della refiutagione, e si la darà nella sua mano; e poi (sì la lascerà andare, e) man daralla fuori della sua casa (salva e libera). | 1 "When a man takes a wife and marries her, if then she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some indecency in her, and he writes her a bill of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out of his house, and she departs out of his house, |
| 2 E poi ch' essa n'è uscita, e avrassi maritata a uno altro marito, | 2 and if she goes and becomes another man's wife, |
| 3 e quello anco avralla in odio, e daralle il libello (e la carta) della refiutagione, e lasceralla andare fuori di casa sua, ovvero che sia morto; | 3 and the latter husband dislikes her and writes her a bill of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out of his house, or if the latter husband dies, who took her to be his wife, |
| 4 il priino marito, ch' ell' ebbe, non la potrà tuorre più per moglie; imperciò che già è corrotta (e sozza) e abbominevole dinanzi a Dio, acciò che tu non facci peccare la terra, la quale Iddio tuo Signore ti darà a possedere. | 4 then her former husband, who sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after she has been defiled; for that is an abomination before the LORD, and you shall not bring guilt upon the land which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance. |
| 5 E quando l'uomo avrà tolto di nuovo moglie, non anderà a battaglia; nè cosa alcuna grave pub blicamente gli sarà ingiunta; ma riposerassi senza alcuna pena in casa sua, e insieme colla sua moglie (si conforti e) diasi letizia per uno anno. | 5 "When a man is newly married, he shall not go out with the army or be charged with any business; he shall be free at home one year, to be happy with his wife whom he has taken. |
| 6 Non piglierai in luogo di pegno la macina di sopra e quella di sotto; imperciò ch' egli t'ha data la sua anima. | 6 "No man shall take a mill or an upper millstone in pledge; for he would be taking a life in pledge. |
| 7 S'egli sarà compreso uomo veruno, il quale solliciti il suo fratello de' figliuoli d'Israel, e poi l'avrà venduto, pigliandone prezzo, sarà morto; e le verai il male di mezzo di te. | 7 "If a man is found stealing one of his brethren, the people of Israel, and if he treats him as a slave or sells him, then that thief shall die; so you shall purge the evil from the midst of you. |
| 8 Guarda diligentemente che tu non caggia nella piaga (e nella infermità) della lepra; ma farai ciò che ? insegneranno li preti della (schiatta e) generazione di Levi, secondo quello ch' io comandai loro; e adempilo (e fallo) sollicitamente. | 8 "Take heed, in an attack of leprosy, to be very careful to do according to all that the Levitical priests shall direct you; as I commanded them, so you shall be careful to do. |
| 9 E raccordivi di quello che fece Iddio vostro Signore a Maria (moglie d'Aaron) nella via, quando voi uscivate d'Egitto. | 9 Remember what the LORD your God did to Miriam on the way as you came forth out of Egypt. |
| 10 Quando raddimanderai dal prossimo tuo alcuna cosa, la quale sia tenuto di darlati, non entre rai nella casa sua per torgli il pegno. | 10 "When you make your neighbor a loan of any sort, you shall not go into his house to fetch his pledge. |
| 11 Ma istarai di fuori; ed egli te lo recherà, e porterà quello che avrà. | 11 You shall stand outside, and the man to whom you make the loan shall bring the pledge out to you. |
| 12 Ma se egli è povero, non starà teco il pegno insino alla notte; | 12 And if he is a poor man, you shall not sleep in his pledge; |
| 13 ma incontanente tu glielo renderai innanzi che tramonti il sole, acciò ch' egli, dormendo col suo vestimento (che t'ha dato pegno, e tu glie l'hai renduto) sì ti benedica, e tu (truovi e) abbia giustizia dinanzi a Dio tuo Signore. | 13 when the sun goes down, you shall restore to him the pledge that he may sleep in his cloak and bless you; and it shall be righteousness to you before the LORD your God. |
| 14 Non negherai (il prezzo e) la mercede di co lui il quale è bisognoso, e del povero tuo fratello, ovvero del forestiero che istia dentro nella terra teco, dentro dalle porte tue. | 14 "You shall not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your brethren or one of the sojourners who are in your land within your towns; |
| 15 Ma quello dì medesimo rendi loro il prezzo (e la mercede) della loro fatica, innanzi che tramonti il sole; imperciò ch' esso sì è povero, e di quello sosterrà egli l'anima sua; acciò ch' egli non gridi a Dio contro a te, e siati reputato in peccato (e in abbominazione). | 15 you shall give him his hire on the day he earns it, before the sun goes down (for he is poor, and sets his heart upon it); lest he cry against you to the LORD, and it be sin in you. |
| 16 Non saranno morti i padri per li figliuoli, e nè i figliuoli per li padri loro; ma ciascheduno morrà per lo peccato suo. | 16 "The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor shall the children be put to death for the fathers; every man shall be put to death for his own sin. |
| 17 Guarda che non perverti (e non muti) il giudizio (e la ragione) del pupillo e del forestiere (e del peregrino); e non piglierai in luogo di pegno il ve stimento della vedova. | 17 "You shall not pervert the justice due to the sojourner or to the fatherless, or take a widow's garment in pledge; |
| 18 Ricorditi che tu servisti (e fosti servo) in Egitto, e quindi fosti liberato da Dio tuo Signore; e imperciò io ti comando che tu facci questa cosa. | 18 but you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt and the LORD your God redeemed you from there; therefore I command you to do this. |
| 19 Quando tu averai (fatto e) tagliato la biada nel campo tuo, e avrai dimenticato (uno mazzo) uno covone (di biada), e lasciatolo nel campo, non ritornerai a ritoglierlo; ma lascialo torre al forestiero e al pupillo e alla vedova, acciò che il tuo Signore Iddio ti benedica in tutte l'opere che tu lavori colle tue mani. | 19 "When you reap your harvest in your field, and have forgotten a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it; it shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow; that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. |
| 20 E se tu coglierai il frutto de' tuoi olivi, ciò che rimarrà negli arbori, non tornerai a coglierlo; ma lascialo per lo forestiere e per lo pupillo (abban donato) e per la vedova (senza troppo conforto). | 20 When you beat your olive trees, you shall not go over the boughs again; it shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow. |
| 21 E se tu vindemierai la vigna tua, non co glierai i racimoli che rimangano (alle vite appiccati); ma torneranno in uso (e in parte) del forestiere e del pupillo e della vedova. | 21 When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not glean it afterward; it shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow. |
| 22 Ricorditi che (ancora servisti e) fusti servo in Egitto; e imperciò io ti comando che tu facci questa cosa. | 22 You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt; therefore I command you to do this. |
