1 E il Signore disse a Mosè: « Ecco io t'ho costituito come Dio di Faraone, e il tuo fratello Aronne sarà il tuo profeta.	1 And the Lord said to Moses: Behold I have appointed thee the God of Pharao: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.
2 Tu dirai a lui tutto quello che io ti comando, ed egli parlerà a Faraone, affinchè lasci partire dal suo paese i figli d'Israele.	2 Thou shalt speak to him all that I command thee; and he shall speak to Pharao, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land.
3 Ma io indurerò il cuore di Faraone, e moltiplicherò i miei segni e i miei prodigi nella terra d'Egitto.	3 But I shall harden his heart, and shall multiply my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt,
4 E siccome egli non vi ascolterà, io graverò la mano sopra l'Egitto e trarrò dall'Egitto il mio esercito, il mio popolo, i figli d'Israele, con grandi giudizi.	4 And he will not hear you: and I will lay my hand upon Egypt, and will bring forth my army and my people the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt, by very great judgments.
5 E quando, gravata la mano sopra l'Egitto, avrò tratto di mezzo a loro i figli d'Israele, gli Egiziani riconosceranno che io sono il Signore ».	5 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, who have stretched forth my hand upon Egypt, and have brought forth the children of Israel out of the midst of them.
6 E Mosè ed Aronne fecero così, proprio come il Signore aveva loro comandato.	6 And Moses and Aaron did as the Lord had commanded: so did they.
7 E quando parlarono a Faraone, Mosè aveva ottanta anni e Aronne ottantatrè.	7 And Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron eighty-three, when they spoke to Pharao.
8 Il Signore parlò a Mosè e ad Aronne:	8 And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron:
9 « Quando Faraone vi dirà: Fate vedere dei miracoli; tu dirai ad Aronne; Prendi la tua verga e gettala davanti a Faraone ed essa diventerà un serpente ».	9 When Pharao shall say to you, Shew signs: thou shalt say to Aaron: Take thy rod, and cast it down before Pharao, and it shall be turned into a serpent.
10 Andati adunque Mosè ed Aronne a trovar Faraone, fecero come il Signore aveva loro comandato. Infatti Aronne gettò la verga davanti a Faraone e ai suoi servi, ed essa divenne un serpente.	10 So Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharao, and did as the Lord had commanded. And Aaron took the rod before Pharao, and his servants, and it was turned into a serpent.
11 Ma Faraone chiamò i sapienti e i maghi, i quali fecero altrettanto mediante incantesimi egiziani e certi segreti.	11 And Pharao called the wise men and the magicians: and they also by Egyptian enchantments and certain secrets did in like manner.
12 Ognun d'essi infatti gettò la sua verga, e queste si mutarono in serpenti; ma la verga di Aronne divorò le loro.	12 And they every one cast down their rods, and they were turned into serpents: but Aaron's rod devoured their rods.
13 E il cuore di Faraone s'indurò, e non diede ascolto a Mosè e ad Aronne, come appunto il Signore aveva detto.	13 And Pharao's heart was hardened, and he did not hearken to them, as the Lord had commanded.
14 E il Signore disse a Mosè: « Il cuore di Faraone s'è indurito: non vuole lasciar partire il (mio) popolo.	14 And the Lord said to Moses: Pharao's heart is hardened, he will not let the people go.
15 Ma tu vada lui domattina, quando uscirà per andare al fiume, aspettalo sulla riva del fiume, tenendo in mano la verga che si cambiò in serpente.	15 Go to him in the morning, behold he will go out to the waters: and thou shalt stand to meet him on the bank of the river: and thou shalt take in thy hand the rod that was turned into a serpent.
16 E gli devi dire: Il Signore Dio degli Ebrei mi ha mandato a dirti: Lascia andare il mio popolo, affinchè mi offra sacrifizi nel deserto; ma tu fino ad ora non hai dato retta.	16 And thou shalt say to him: The Lord God of the Hebrews sent me to thee saying: Let my people go to sacrifice to me in the desert: and hitherto thou wouldst not hear.
17 Ma il Signore così dice: Da questo riconoscerai ch'io sono il Signore: ecco, io percuoterò colla verga che ho in mano l'acqua del fiume, ed essa diventerà sangue.	17 Thus therefore saith the Lord: In this thou shalt know that I am the Lord: behold I will strike with the rods that is in my hand, the water of the river, and it shall be turned into blood.
18 I pesci del fiume morranno, le sue acque diventeranno putride e soffriranno gli Egiziani che bevono l'acqua del fiume ».	18 And the fishes that are in the river shall die, and the waters shall be corrupted, and the Egyptians shall be afflicted when they drink the water of the river.
19 E il Signore disse a Mosè: « Di' ad Aronne: Prendi la tua verga e stendi la tua mano sopra le acque d'Egitto: sui loro fiumi e rivi e paludi, su tutti i depositi di acque, affinchè si mutino in sangue, e in tutta la terra d'Egitto, tanto nei vasi di legno che in quelli di pietra, vi sia sangue ».	19 The Lord also said to Moses: Say to Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch forth thy hand upon the waters of Egypt, and upon their rivers, and streams and pools, and all the ponds of waters, that they may be turned into blood: and let blood be in all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood and of stone.
20 Mosè ed Aronne fecero quanto il Signore aveva ordinato, e Aronne, alzata la verga, percosse l'acqua del fiume alla presenza di Faraone e dei suoi servi; ed essa si cambiò in sangue.	20 And Moses and Aaron did as the Lord had commanded: and lifting up the rod he struck the water of the river before Pharao and his servants: and it was turned into blood.
21 E i pesci del fiume morirono, e il fiume imputridì, e gli Egiziani non potevan bere l'acqua del fiume, e vi fu sangue per tutta la terra d'Egitto.	21 And the fishes that were in the river died: and the river corrupted, and the Egyptians could not drink the water of the river, and there was blood in all the land of Egypt.
22 Ma i maghi d'Egitto fecero altrettanto coi loro incantesimi, e così il cuore di Faraone s'indurò e non diede ascolto a Mosè e ad Aronne, come aveva detto il Signore.	22 And the magicians of the Egyptians with their enchantments did in like manner: and Pharao's heart was hardened, neither did he hear them, as the Lord had commanded.
23 Anzi Faraone, voltate loro le spalle, andò a casa sua, senza farsi caso dell'avvenuto.	23 And he turned himself away and went into his house, neither did he set his heart to it this time also.
24 Ma tutti gli Egiziani furon costretti a scavare intorno al fiume per trovare dell'acqua da bere, non potendo bere l'acqua del fiume.	24 And all the Egyptians dug round about the river for water to drink: for they could not drink of the water of the river.
25 E così passaron sette giorni dacché il Signore ebbe percosso l'acqua del fiume.	25 And seven days were fully ended, after that the Lord struck the river.
