Deuteronômio 14

1 Vós sois os filhos do Senhor, vosso Deus. Não vos fareis incisões, e não cortareis o cabelo pela frente em honra de um morto,	1 “Be sons of the Lord your God. You shall not cut yourselves, nor make yourselves bald, because of the dead.
2 porque és um povo consagrado ao Senhor, teu Deus, o qual te escolheu para ser um povo que lhe pertença de um modo exclusivo entre todas as outras nações da terra."	2 For you are a holy people, for the Lord your God. And he chose you, so that you may be a people particularly his, out of all the nations on earth.
3 Não comerás coisa alguma abominável.	3 You shall not eat the things that are unclean.
4 Eis os animais que comereis: o boi, o cordeiro, a cabra, a gazela,	4 These are the animals which you ought to eat: the ox, and the sheep, and the goat,
5 a corça, o gamo, o antílope, o búfalo e a cabra montês.	5 the stag and the roe deer, the gazelle, the wild goat, the addax, the antelope, the giraffe.
6 Comereis de todos os animais que têm a unha e o pé fendidos, e que ruminam.	6 Every beast which has a hoof divided into two parts and which also chews the cud, you shall eat.
7 Mas não comereis daqueles que somente ruminam ou somente tenham a unha e o pé fendidos, tais como o camelo, a lebre, o coelho, que ruminam mas não têm a unha fendida: tê-los-eis por impuros.	7 But those which chew over again, but do not have a divided hoof, you must not eat, such as the camel, the hare, and the hyrax. Since these chew the cud, but do not have a divided the hoof, they shall be unclean to you.
8 Igualmente o porco, que tem a unha fendida mas não rumina: tê-lo-eis por impuro. Não comereis de suas carnes, nem tocareis nos seus cadáveres.	8 The pig also, since it has a divided hoof, but does not chew over again, shall be unclean. Their flesh shall not be eaten, and you shall not touch their carcasses.
9 Dentre os animais que vivem nas águas, eis os que podereis comer: comereis tudo o que tem barbatanas e escamas;	9 These you shall eat out of all that dwells in the waters: whatever has fins and scales, you shall eat.
10 mas tudo o que não tiver barbatanas nem escamas tereis por impuro e não comereis.	10 Whatever is without fins and scales, you shall not eat, for these are unclean.
11 Comereis de todas as aves que são puras.	11 All the clean birds, you shall eat.
12 Eis as que não podereis comer: a águia, o falcão e o abutre,	12 You shall not eat those that are unclean: such as the eagle, and the griffin, and the osprey,
13 o milhafre e toda variedade de falcão,	13 the crane, and the vulture, and the kite, according to their kind,
14 toda espécie de corvo,	14 and any kind of raven,
15 a avestruz, a andorinha, a gaivota e toda variedade de gavião,	15 and the ostrich, and the owl, and the gull, and the hawk, according to their kind,
16 o mocho, a coruja, o açor,	16 the heron, and the swan, and the ibis,
17 o caburé, o alcatraz, o íbis,	17 and the sea bird, the marsh hen, and the night raven,
18 a cegonha e toda variedade de garça, a poupa e o morcego.	18 the pelican and the plover, each in their kind, likewise the crested hoopoe and the bat.
19 Tereis por impuro todo inseto volátil: não comereis deles.	19 And anything which crawls and also has little wings shall be unclean, and shall not be eaten.
20 Mas comereis de toda ave pura.	20 All that is clean, you shall eat.
21 Não comereis animal algum encontrado morto. Dá-lo-ás ao estrangeiro que habita dentro de teus muros, e ele o comerá; ou então vendê-lo-ás a um estrangeiro, porque és um povo consagrado ao Senhor, teu Deus. Não cozeras um cabrito no leite de sua mãe.	21 But whatever has died of itself, you shall not eat from it. Give it to the sojourner, who is within your gates, so that he may eat, or sell it to him. For you are the holy people of the Lord your God. You shall not boil a young goat in the milk of his mother.
22 Porás à parte o dízimo de todo fruto de tuas semeaduras, de tudo o que o teu campo produzir cada ano.	22 Each year, you shall separate the tithes out of all your crops which spring forth from the earth.
23 Comerás na presença do Senhor, teu Deus, no lugar que ele tiver escolhido para nele residir o seu nome, o dízimo de teu trigo, de teu vinho e de teu óleo, bem como os primogênitos de teu rebanho grande e miúdo, para que aprendas a temer o Senhor, teu Deus, para sempre.	23 And you shall eat these in the sight of the Lord your God, in the place which he will choose, so that his name may be invoked there: the tenth part of your grain and wine and oil, and the firstborn from the herds and your sheep. So may you learn to fear the Lord your God at all times.
24 Mas, se for muito longo o caminho, de modo que não possas transportá-lo - porque o lugar escolhido pelo Senhor, teu Deus, para nele residir o seu nome é afastado demais, e ele te cumulou de muitos bens -,	24 But when the way and the place which the Lord your God will have chosen is further away, and he will have blessed you, so that you are not able to carry all these things to it,
25 venderás o dízimo e, levando o dinheiro {dessa venda} em tuas mãos, irás ao lugar escolhido pelo Senhor, teu Deus.	25 you shall sell them all, so as to turn them into money, and you shall carry it in your hand, and you shall set out for the place which the Lord will choose.
26 Comprarás ali com esse dinheiro tudo o que te aprouver, bois, ovelhas, vinho, bebidas fermentadas, tudo o que desejares, e comerás tudo isso em presença do Senhor, teu Deus, alegrando-te com tua família.	26 And you shall buy with the same money whatever pleases you, either from the herds or from the sheep, and also wine and liquor, and all that your soul desires. And you shall eat in the sight of the Lord your God, and you shall feast: you and your household.
27 Não negligenciarás o levita que vive dentro de teus muros, porque ele não recebeu como tu partilha nem herança.	27 As for the Levite, who is within your gates, take care that you do not abandon him, for he has no other portion within your possession.
28 No fim de três anos, porás de lado todos os dízimos da colheita desse {terceiro} ano, e depô-los-ás dentro de tua cidade,	28 In the third year, you shall separate another tenth part of all the things which spring forth for you at that time, and you shall store it within your gates.
29 para que o levita que não tem como tu partilha nem herança, o estrangeiro, o órfão e a viúva, que se encontram em teus muros, possam comer à saciedade, e que o Senhor, teu Deus, te abençoe em todas as obras de tuas mãos.	29 And the Levite, who has no other portion or possession with you, and the sojourner as well as the orphan and the widow who are within your gates, shall approach and eat and be satisfied, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the works of your hands which you shall do.”
