LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Getta il tuo pane sulla superficie dell'acqua, ché col passar dei giorni lo ritroverai.	1 Cast your bread on the water, eventual y you wil recover it.
2 Metti a parte dei tuoi beni sette o anche otto, perché non sai quali guai ti capiteranno sulla terra.	2 Offer a share to seven or to eight people, you can never tell what disaster may occur.
3 Quando le nubi sono piene, rovesciano la pioggia sulla terra; e se un albero cade, a sud o a nord che cada, là dove cade resta.	3 When clouds are ful of rain, they wil shed it on the earth. If a tree fal s, whether south or north, whereit falls, there it wil lie.
4 Chi bada al vento, non semina, e chi sta a guardare le nuvole, non miete.	4 Keep watching the wind and you wil never sow, keep staring at the clouds and you will never reap.
5 Come tu non sai per quale via lo spirito vitale si fa ossa nel seno della donna incinta, così tu non conosci l'opera di Dio che fa tutto.	5 You do not understand how the wind blows, or how the embryo grows in a woman's womb: no morecan you understand the work of God, the Creator of al .
6 Getta il tuo seme al mattino e a sera non dar requie alla tua mano, perché tu non sai quale seme verrà, se questo o quello, o se forse non verranno tutti e due.	6 In the morning, sow your seed, until evening, do not cease from labour, for of any two things you donot know which wil succeed, or which of the two is the better.
7 Dolce è la luce e bello è per l'occhio guardare il sole.	7 How sweet light is, how delightful it is to see the sun!
8 Se un uomo vive anche per molti anni, tutti cerchi di goderseli, pensando ai giorni della tenebra che saranno molti; tutto ciò che càpita all'uomo è vanità.	8 However many years you live, enjoy them all, but remember, the days of darkness wil be many: futilityawaits you at the end.
9 Sii allegro, o giovane, nella tua adolescenza, e nei giorni della tua giovinezza sia nella gioia il tuo cuore. Fa' tutto ciò che desideri e che i tuoi occhi vagheggiano, ma tieni presente che, su tutto questo, ti giudica Dio.	9 Young man, enjoy yourself while you are young, make the most of the days of your youth, follow theprompting and desire of heart and eye, but remember, God wil cal you to account for everything.
10 Tieni sgombro il tuo cuore dalla malinconia, e tieni lontano il dolore da te, perché giovinezza e adolescenza sono un soffio.	10 Rid your heart of indignation, keep your body clear of suffering, though youth and the age of blackhair are both futile.
