Proverbi 3

LA SACRA BIBBIA	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Figlio mio, non dimenticare il mio insegnamento e il tuo cuore custodisca i miei precetti,	1 My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart guard my precepts.
2 perché con la lunghezza dei giorni e degli anni di vita ti procurano prosperità.	2 For they shall set before you length of days, and years of life, and peace.
3 Amore e fedeltà non ti abbandonino! Légali intorno al tuo collo, scrivili sopra la tavola del tuo cuore.	3 Let not mercy and truth abandon you: encircle them around your throat, and inscribe them on the tablets of your heart.
4 Troverai grazia e buona fortuna agli occhi di Dio e dell'uomo.	4 And so shall you discover grace and good discipline, in the sight of God and men.
5 Confida nel Signore con tutto il cuore e non ti appoggiare sulla tua intelligenza.	5 Have confidence in the Lord with all your heart, and do not depend upon your own prudence.
6 Tienlo presente in tutte le tue vie ed egli raddrizzerà i tuoi sentieri.	6 In all your ways, consider him, and he himself will direct your steps.
7 Non essere saggio ai tuoi occhi! Temi il Signore e fuggi dal male!	7 Do not seem wise to yourself. Fear God, and withdraw from evil.
8 Sarà medicina al tuo corpo, vigore alle tue ossa.	8 Certainly, it shall be health to your navel, and refreshment to your bones.
9 Onora il Signore con i tuoi beni e con le primizie di tutti i tuoi averi.	9 Honor the Lord with your substance, and give to him from the first of all your fruits,
10 I tuoi granai saranno pieni di frumento, i tuoi torchi traboccheranno di mosto.	10 and then your storehouses will be filled with abundance, and your presses shall overflow with wine.
11 Non disprezzar la disciplina del Signore e al suo rimprovero non metterti contro,	11 My son, do not discard the discipline of the Lord, and do not fall away when you are corrected by him.
12 perché rimprovera quello che ama, come un padre il figlio di cui si compiace.	12 For whomever the Lord loves, he corrects, and just as a father does with a son, he wins him over.
13 Beato l'uomo che ha trovato sapienza, l'uomo che ha incontrato intelligenza.	13 Blessed is the man who finds wisdom and who advances to prudence.
14 Il suo guadagno è migliore del guadagno d'argento e migliore dell'oro è il suo frutto.	14 Her acquisition is better than trading in silver, and her fruit is better than the first and purest gold.
15 E' più preziosa delle perle e quanto puoi desiderare non l'eguaglia.	15 She is more precious than all riches, and all that can be desired cannot prevail in comparison to her.
16 Lunghezza di giorni è nella sua destra, nella sua sinistra ricchezza e onore.	16 Length of days is at her right hand, and at her left hand is wealth and glory.
17 Le sue vie son vie deliziose e tutti i suoi sentieri sono pace.	17 Her ways are beautiful ways, and all her paths are peaceful.
18 Albero di vita per chi l'ha conquistata, e quelli che la tengono sono beati.	18 She is a tree of life to those who overtake her, and he who shall take hold of her is blessed.
19 Il Signore con la sapienza ha fondato la terra, sostenendo i cieli con l'intelligenza.	19 The Lord founded the earth on wisdom. He secured the heavens with prudence.
20 Per la sua scienza si sono aperti gli abissi e le nubi hanno stillato rugiada.	20 By his wisdom, the abyss erupted and the clouds increased with dew.
21 Figlio mio, non partano dai tuoi occhi prudenza e accortezza, ma custodiscile.	21 My son, let not these things move away from your eyes. Preserve law as well as counsel.
22 Saranno vita per l'anima tua, ornamento per il tuo collo.	22 And so shall there be life in your soul and grace in your voice.
23 Allora percorrerai sicuro la tua strada e il tuo piede non vacillerà.	23 Then you shall walk confidently in your way, and your feet will not stumble.
24 Quando ti coricherai non avrai paura. Ti coricherai e sarà saporito il tuo sonno.	24 When you slumber, you shall not fear. When you rest, your sleep also will be sweet.
25 Non temere il terrore improvviso né la tempesta degli empi quando si avvicina;	25 Do not fear unexpected terror, nor the power of the impious falling upon you.
26 perché il Signore sarà il tuo baluardo, proteggerà dal laccio il tuo piede.	26 For the Lord will be at your side, and he will guard your feet, so that you may not be seized.
27 Non rifiutare il bene a chi lo chiede, quando è in potere della tua mano il farlo.	27 Do not prevent him who is able from doing good. When you are able, do good yourself too.
28 Non dire al tuo prossimo: "Vai e ritorna! Domani te lo darò", quando ce l'hai.	28 Do not say to your friend: “Go away, and then return. Tomorrow I will give to you.” When you are able to do so, give in the present.
29 Non progettare contro il tuo prossimo il male, quando lui si trova sicuro con te.	29 Do not undertake evil against your friend, even though he has trust in you.
30 Non litigar con un altro senza motivo, se non ti ha fatto del male.	30 Do not contend against a man without cause, even though he has done no evil to you.
31 Non invidiare un uomo violento e non scegliere alcuna delle sue vie.	31 Do not rival an unjust man, and do not imitate his ways.
32 Perché è abominio del Signore il perverso, ma conversa con gli uomini retti.	32 For everyone who ridicules is an abomination to the Lord, and his communication is for the simple.
33 Maledizione del Signore sulla casa dell'empio, mentre benedice la dimora dei giusti.	33 Destitution in the house of the impious is from the Lord. But the habitations of the just shall be blessed.
34 Agli insolenti risponde con ira, ai poveri invece dona la grazia.	34 He will ridicule those who ridicule, but he will bestow grace upon the mild.
35 Gloria erediteranno i sapienti, gli stolti invece possederanno ignominia.	35 The wise will possess glory. The exaltation of the foolish is disgraceful.
