1 Figli di Ruben, primogenito di Israele. Egli infatti era il primogenito, ma siccome aveva profanato il letto di suo padre, il suo diritto di primogenitura fu dato ai figli di Giuseppe, figlio d'Israele. 18 I figli di Ruben, di Gad e della mezza tribù di Manasse avevano gente valorosa, uomini che portavano scudo e spada, tiravano l'arco ed erano addestrati alla guerra; potevano uscire in campo in quarantaquattromilasettecentosessanta.	18 the sons of Reuben, and of Gad, and the one half tribe of Manasseh, men of war, carrying shields and swords, and bending the bow, and trained for battle, forty-four thousand and seven hundred sixty, advancing to the fight.
19 Essi mossero guerra agli Agareni, a Ietur, a Nafis e a Nodab.	19 They struggled against the Hagarites, yet truly the Jetureans, and Naphish, and Nodab offered assistance to them.
20 Essi erano stati aiutati contro costoro perché avevano invocato Dio durante il combattimento ed egli li esaudì, giacché avevano avuto fiducia in lui, e così gli Agareni e tutti i loro alleati furono consegnati in loro potere.	20 And the Hagarites were delivered into their hands, and all who were with them. For they called upon God while they did battle. And he heeded them, because they had trusted in him.
21 Catturarono così gli armenti degli Agareni: cinquantamila cammelli, duecentocinquantamila pecore, duemila asini e centomila persone,	21 And they seized all that they possessed, of camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred fifty thousand, and of donkeys two thousand, and of men one hundred thousand lives.
22 giacché molti erano caduti trafitti, siccome la guerra era stata condotta da Dio. Essi si stabilirono al loro posto fino all'esilio.	22 And many fell down wounded. For it was a war of the Lord. And they lived in place of them, until the transmigration.
23 I figli della mezza tribù di Manasse abitavano nella regione che da Basan si estendeva fino a Baal-Ermon, a Senir e al monte Ermon; essi erano numerosi.	23 Also, the sons of the one half tribe of Manasseh possessed the land, from the parts of Bashan as far as Baal, Hermon, and Sanir, and Mount Hermon. For certainly, their number was immense.
24 Questi sono i capi dei loro casati: Efer, Isei, Eliel, Azriel, Geremia, Odavia e Iacdiel, uomini valorosi e famosi, capi dei loro casati.	24 And these were leaders of the house of their kindred: Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, very valiant and powerful men, and renown leaders in their families.
25 Ma furono infedeli al Dio dei loro padri, prostituendosi agli dèi delle popolazioni indigene, che Dio aveva distrutto davanti a essi.	25 But they abandoned the God of their fathers, and they fornicated after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God took away before them.
