LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Ecco i figli d'Israele secondo il loro numero, i capi dei casati, i capi di migliaia e di centinaia, e i loro ufficiali al servizio del re per tutto ciò che concerne le classi, quella che usciva e l'altra che entrava mese per mese durante tutti i mesi dell'anno. Ogni classe comprendeva ventiquattromila uomini.	1 The Israelites listed according to heads of families, commanders of thousands and hundreds, withtheir officials in the king's service who dealt with al matters affecting the companies on monthly duty, month bymonth throughout the year, each company consisting of twenty-four thousand men:
2 A capo della prima classe, per il primo mese, c'era Iasobeam, figlio di Zabdiel; la sua divisione contava ventiquattromila uomini.	2 The commander of the first company detailed for the first month was Jashobeam son of Zabdiel,whose company consisted of twenty-four thousand men.
3 Appartenente ai discendenti di Perez, comandava tutti gli ufficiali dell'esercito per il primo mese.	3 He belonged to the family of Perez and was the senior military officer of al those detailed for the firstmonth.
4 Alla classe del secondo mese presiedeva Dodo di Acoch; la sua divisione aveva ventiquattromila uomini.	4 The commander of the company for the second month was Dodai the Ahohite, whose companyconsisted of twenty-four thousand men.
5 Capo del terzo gruppo, per il terzo mese, era Benaià, figlio di Ioiadà, sommo sacerdote; la sua classe comprendeva ventiquattromila uomini.	5 The officer commanding the third body of men for the third month was Benaiah son of Jehoiada, thechief priest, whose company consisted of twenty-four thousand men.
6 Questo Benaià era un prode dei Trenta e aveva il comando dei Trenta e della sua classe. Suo figlio era Ammizabàd.	6 This was the Benaiah who was an important member of the Thirty and his company. His son wasAmmizabad.
7 Il quarto capo per il quarto mese era Asaèl, fratello di Ioab, e, dopo di lui, Zebadia, suo figlio; la sua classe era di ventiquattromila uomini.	7 The fourth for the fourth month was Asahel brother of Joab, and his son Zebadiah after him, whosecompany consisted of twenty-four thousand men.

9 Sesto per il sesto mese era Ira, figlio di Ikkes di Tekòa; la sua classe comprendeva ventiquattromila uomini.	9 The sixth for the sixth month was Ira son of Ikkesh of Tekoa, whose company consisted of twenty-fourthousand men.
10 Settimo per il settimo mese era Chelez, il pelonita, dei discendenti di Efraim; la sua classe contava ventiquattromila uomini.	10 The seventh for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, one of the Ephraimites, whose companyconsisted of twenty-four thousand men.
11 Ottavo per l'ottavo mese era Sibbecài, di Cusa, lo zerachita; la sua classe comprendeva ventiquattromila uomini.	11 The eighth for the eighth month was Sibbecai of Hushah, a Zerahite, whose company consisted oftwenty-four thousand men.
12 Nono per il nono mese era Abièzer, di Anatòt, un beniaminita; la sua classe era di ventiquattromila uomini.	12 The ninth for the ninth month was Abiezer of Anathoth, a Benjaminite, whose company consisted oftwenty-four thousand men.
13 Decimo per il decimo mese era Marai, di Netofa, lo zerachita; la sua classe comprendeva ventiquattromila uomini.	13 The tenth for the tenth month was Maharai of Netophah, a Zerahite, whose company consisted oftwenty-four thousand men.
14 Undicesimo per l'undicesimo mese era Benaià, di Piraton, dei discendenti di Efraim; la sua classe contava ventiquattromila uomini.	14 The eleventh for the eleventh month was Benaiah of Pirathon, an Ephraimite, whose companyconsisted of twenty-four thousand men.
15 Il dodicesimo per il dodicesimo mese era Cheldai, di Netofa, della famiglia di Otniel; la sua classe comprendeva ventiquattromila uomini.	15 The twelfth for the twelfth month was Heldai of Netophah, of Othniel, whose company consisted oftwenty-four thousand men.
16 Riguardo alle tribù d'Israele: sui Rubeniti presiedeva Eliezer figlio di Zikri; sulla tribù di Simeone, Sefatia figlio di Maaca;	16 Responsible for the tribes of Israel were chief Eliezer son of Zichri for the Reubenites, Shephatiahson of Maacah for the Simeonites,
17 su quella di Levi, Casabia figlio di Kemuel; sugli Aronnidi, Zadòk;	17 Hashabiah son of Kemuel for the Levites, Zadok for the Aaronites,
18 su quella di Giuda, Eliu, dei fratelli di Davide; su quella di Issacar, Omri figlio di Michele;	18 Elihu, one of David's brothers, for Judah, Omri son of Michael for Issachar,
19 su quella di Zabulon, Ismaia figlio di Abdia; su quella di Neftali, Ierimot figlio di Azriel;	19 Ishmaiah son of Obadiah for Zebulun, Jerimoth son of Azriel for Naphtali,
20 sugli Efraimiti, Osea figlio di Azazia; su metà della tribù di Manasse, Gioele figlio di Pedaia;	20 Hoshea son of Azaziah for the Ephraimites, Joel son of Pedaiah for the half-tribe of Manasseh,
21 su metà della tribù di Manasse in Galaad, Iddo figlio di Zaccaria; su quella di Beniamino, Iaasiel figlio di Abner;	21 Iddo son of Zechariah for the half-tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, Jaasiel son of Abner for Benjamin,
22 su quella di Dan, Azarel figlio di Ierocam. Questi furono i capi delle tribù di Israele.	22 and Azarel son of Jeroham for Dan. These were the tribal chiefs of Israel.
23 Davide non fece il censimento di quelli al di sotto dei vent'anni, perché il Signore aveva promesso di moltiplicare Israele come le stelle del cielo.	23 Now in the census David did not include those who were twenty years old and under, since Yahwehhad promised to make Israel as numerous as the stars of heaven.
24 Ioab, figlio di Zeruià, aveva iniziato il censimento, ma non lo portò a termine; per esso si scatenò l'ira contro Israele e il numero non fu riportato nel libro delle Cronache del re Davide.	24 Joab son of Zeruiah began the count but never finished. This is why retribution came upon Israel,and the number did not come up to that recorded in the annals of King David.
25 Ai tesori del re era preposto Azmàvet, figlio di Adiel; ai tesori che erano nella campagna, nelle città, nei villaggi e nelle torri presiedeva Gionata, figlio di Uzzia.	25 Overseer of the king's supplies: Azmaveth son of Adiel. Overseer of supplies in the countryside,towns, vil ages and fortresses: Jonathan son of Uzziah.
26 Sugli operai agricoli, che coltivavano la campagna, era preposto Ezri, figlio di Chelub.	26 Overseer of the farmers who til ed the land: Ezri son of Chelub.
27 A capo delle vigne c'era Simei di Rama, mentre Zabdai da Sefàn era preposto alle riserve di vino.	27 Overseer of vineyards: Shimei of Ramah. Overseer of those in the vineyards who looked after thewine cellars: Zabdi of Shepham.
28 Agli oliveti e ai sicomori, che erano nella Sefela, era addetto Baal-Canan, di Ghedara; ai depositi di olio Ioas.	28 Overseer of olive and sycamore trees in the Shephelah: Baal-Hanan of Geder. Overseer of oilsupplies: Joash.
29 Sitri, il saronita, era preposto al grosso bestiame che pascolava nella Sefela, mentre Safat, figlio di Adlai, sorvegliava il grosso bestiame delle altre vallate.	29 Overseer of cattle at pasture in the plains of Sharon: Shitrai of Sharon. Overseer of cattle in theval eys: Shaphat son of Adlai.
30 Ai cammelli era preposto Obil, l'ismaelita; delle asine era responsabile Iechdaia di Meronot.	30 Overseer of camels: Obil the Ishmaelite.
31 Al bestiame minuto era addetto Iaziu l'agareno. Tutti costoro erano gli amministratori dei beni del re Davide.	31 Overseer of donkeys: Jehdeiah of Meranoth. Overseer of flocks: Jaziz the Hagrite. Al the abovesupervised the property belonging to King David.
32 Gionata, zio di Davide, era consigliere. Uomo intelligente e scriba, egli insieme con Iechiel, figlio di Cacmonì, stava con i figli del re.	32 Jonathan, David's uncle, a council or, wise man and scribe, and Jehiel son of Hachmoni took care ofthe king's sons.

34 Ad Achitòfel successero Ioiadà, figlio di Benaia, ed Ebiatar. Ioab era capo dell'esercito.	34 Jehoiada son of Benaiah and Abiathar succeeded Ahitophel -- Joab was commander of the king'sarmy.
