Lettera agli Ebrei 1

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Dopo aver Iddio in antico, a più riprese e in molte guise, parlato ai nostri padri per mezzo dei profeti,	1 At many moments in the past and by many means, God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets;but
2 in questi ultimi tempi parlò a noi a mezzo del Figlio suo, ch'egli costituì erede di ogni cosa, per mezzo del quale creò anche i secoli.	2 in our time, the final days, he has spoken to us in the person of his Son, whom he appointed heir of althings and through whom he made the ages.
3 Questo Figlio, essendo il riflesso della gloria di Dio e l'impronta della sua sostanza, e tutto sostenendo colla parola della sua potenza, dopo aver compiuto la purificazione dei peccati, si assise alla destra della Maestà divina nel più alto de' cieli,	3 He is the reflection of God's glory and bears the impress of God's own being, sustaining all things byhis powerful command; and now that he has purged sins away, he has taken his seat at the right hand of thedivine Majesty on high.
4 diventato così tanto superiore agli angeli quanto più alto nome ereditò in comparazione di loro.	4 So he is now as far above the angels as the title which he has inherited is higher than their own name.
5 Difatti, a qual mai degli angeli disse Iddio: «Figlio mio sei tu, oggi ti ho generato?» e di nuovo: «Io sarò a lui come padre, ed egli sarà a me come figlio?».	5 To which of the angels, then, has God ever said: You are my Son, today I have fathered you, or: I shalbe a father to him and he a son to me?
6 E quando altra volta introduce il primogenito nel mondo dice: «E s'inchinino a lui tutti gli angeli di Dio».	6 Again, when he brings the First-born into the world, he says: Let all the angels of God pay him homage.
7 E rispetto agli angeli dice: «Colui che fa suoi angeli i vènti e suoi servi i fuochi fiammanti».	7 To the angels, he says: appointing the winds his messengers and flames of fire his servants,
8 Invece rispetto al figlio: «Il tuo trono, o Dio, è eterno» e: «La verga della rettitudine è scettro del tuo regno»; e:	8 but to the Son he says: Your throne, God, is for ever and ever; and: the sceptre of his kingdom is asceptre of justice;
9 «Tu hai amato la giustizia e odiato la iniquità; per questo ti unse Iddio, il Dio tuo, dell'olio dell'allegrezza ben più che i tuoi compagni»;	9 you love uprightness and detest evil. This is why God, your God, has anointed you with the oil ofgladness, as none of your rivals.
10 e: «Tu da principio, o Signore, hai fondato la terra, e opera delle tue mani sono i cieli;	10 And again: Long ago, Lord, you laid earth's foundations, the heavens are the work of your hands.
11 essi periranno, ma tu rimarrai, tutti invecchieranno come un vestito,	11 They pass away but you remain, they al wear out like a garment.
12 tu li rivolterai come un mantello, ed essi saranno rivoltati, ma tu sei sempre lo stesso e i tuoi anni non verranno meno».	12 Like a cloak you wil rol them up, like a garment, and they wil be changed. But you never alter andyour years are unending.
13 A qual degli angeli disse mai: «Siedi alla mia destra infino a che io faccia de' tuoi nemici lo sgabello de' tuoi piedi?».	13 To which of the angels has God ever said: Take your seat at my right hand til I have made yourenemies your footstool?
14 Non sono tutti spiriti al servizio [di Dio], inviati a cagione di quelli che devono ricevere l'eredità della salvezza?	14 Are they not al ministering spirits, sent to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?
