| 1 - Salì dunque Mosè dalla pianura di Moab sul monte Nebo, sino alla vetta di Fasga, di contro a Gerico. Ed il Signore gli fece vedere tutta la terra di Galaad sino a Dan, | 1 And Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho. And the LORD showed him all the land, Gilead as far as Dan, |
| 2 tutto Neftali, la terra di Efraim e di Manasse, e tutta la terra di Giuda sino al mare estremo, | 2 all Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Western Sea, |
| 3 la regione meridionale, e tutta la distesa della campagna di Gerico, che è la città detta delle palme, sino a Segor. | 3 the Negeb, and the Plain, that is, the valley of Jericho the city of palm trees, as far as Zoar. |
| 4 Ed il Signore gli disse: «Questa è la terra per la quale io feci giuramento ad Abramo, Isacco e Giacobbe, dicendo: - La darò alla vostra discendenza. - Ecco, tu l'hai vista coi tuoi occhi; ma non v'entrerai». | 4 And the LORD said to him, "This is the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, 'I will give it to your descendants.' I have let you see it with your eyes, but you shall not go over there." |
| 5 Ivi dunque, nel paese di Moab, per ordine del Signore, morì Mosè, il servo del Signore, | 5 So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD, |
| 6 il quale lo seppellì nella valle del paese di Moab di contro Fogor, e nessuno ha insino ad oggi mai conosciuto il luogo del suo sepolcro. | 6 and he buried him in the valley in the land of Moab opposite Beth-peor; but no man knows the place of his burial to this day. |
| 7 Aveva Mosè centovent'anni quando morì, nè gli s'era indebolita la vista, nè gli s'erano mossi i denti. | 7 Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died; his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated. |
| 8 I figli d'Israele lo piansero per trenta giorni nelle pianure di Moab, e poi si compirono i giorni del lutto di quelli che lo piangevano. | 8 And the people of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days; then the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended. |
| 9 Giosuè poi, figlio di Nun, fu ripieno dello spirito di sapienza, perchè Mosè aveva posto su lui le sue mani. A lui obbedirono i figli d'Israele, e fecero come il Signore aveva ordinato a Mosè. | 9 And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands upon him; so the people of Israel obeyed him, and did as the LORD had commanded Moses. |
| 10 Nè più si levò in Israele un profeta come Mosè, al quale il Signore parlasse a faccia a faccia; | 10 And there has not arisen a prophet since in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face, |
| 11 o che facesse miracoli e prodigi come il Signore aveva fatto fare a lui in Egitto dinanzi al Faraone, a tutti i suoi ministri e a tutto il suo regno; | 11 none like him for all the signs and the wonders which the LORD sent him to do in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and to all his servants and to all his land, |
| 12 o che avesse la mano potente in opere grandi e maravigliose come quelle che fece Mosè dinanzi a tutto Israele. | 12 and for all the mighty power and all the great and terrible deeds which Moses wrought in the sight of all Israel. |
