1 And a reed, similar to a staff, was given to me. And it was said to me: “Rise up and measure the temple of God, and those who are worshiping in it, and the altar.	1 À ce moment on me donne une canne à mesurer, en me disant: "Va, fais l’inventaire du Temple de Dieu et de l’autel avec ceux qui y viennent pour adorer.
2 But the atrium, which is outside of the temple, set it aside and do not measure it, because it has been given over to the Gentiles. And they shall trample upon the Holy City for forty-two months.	2 Tu ne mesureras pas la cour extérieure du Temple, n’en tiens pas compte, car elle a été abandonnée aux païens; ils vont piétiner la Cité sainte durant 42 mois.
3 And I will present my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy for one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.	3 Je vais faire venir mes deux témoins qui doivent prophétiser durant 1 260 jours, vêtus de toile à sac.
4 These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands, standing in the sight of the lord of the earth.	4 Ils sont les deux oliviers et les deux lampes qui brûlent devant le Seigneur de toute la terre.
5 And if anyone will want to harm them, fire shall go forth from their mouths, and it shall devour their enemies. And if anyone will want to wound them, so must he be slain.	5 Si quelqu’un leur fait du mal, un feu sortira de leur bouche pour consumer leurs ennemis: ainsi périra celui qui s’avise de leur faire du mal.
6 These have the power to close up the heavens, so that it may not rain during the days of their prophesying. And they have power over the waters, to convert them into blood, and to strike the earth with every kind of affliction as often as they will.	6 Tout le temps de leur activité prophétique, ils ont le pouvoir de fermer le ciel de sorte qu’il ne donne plus une goutte de pluie. Ils ont le pouvoir de changer les eaux en sang et de frapper la terre de toutes sortes de plaies aussi souvent qu’ils le veulent.
7 And when they will have finished their testimony, the beast that ascended from the abyss will make war against them, and will overcome them, and will kill them.	7 Puis, quand ils auront fini de donner leur témoignage, la bête qui monte de l’abîme leur fera la guerre, les vaincra et les fera mourir.
8 And their bodies shall lie in the streets of the Great City, which is figuratively called ‘Sodom’ and ‘Egypt,’ the place where their Lord also was crucified.	8 Leur cadavre est resté sur la place de la Grande Ville qu’on appelle de façon symbolique Sodome, ou encore l’Égypte, là même où leur Seigneur a été crucifié.
9 And those from the tribes and peoples and languages and nations shall be watching their bodies for three and one half days. And they shall not permit their bodies to be placed in tombs.	9 Durant trois jours et demi les humains de toute race et tribu, de toute langue et de toute nation contemplent leurs restes, car on ne permet pas de les ensevelir.
10 And the inhabitants of the earth will rejoice over them, and they will celebrate, and they will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tortured those who were living upon the earth.	10 Quelle joie alors pour les habitants de la terre! Ils en sont ravis et même ils échangent des cadeaux, car ces deux prophètes mettaient au supplice les habitants de la terre. ”
11 And after three and one half days, the spirit of life from God entered into them. And they stood upright on their feet. And a great fear fell over those who saw them.	11 Mais après ces trois jours et demi un souffle de vie, un esprit de Dieu, entra en eux. Ils étaient là debout, et tous les spectateurs furent saisis d’une grande crainte.
12 And they heard a great voice from heaven, saying to them, “Ascend to here!” And they ascended into heaven on a cloud. And their enemies saw them.	12 J’entendis alors une voix qui venait du ciel et leur disait: "Montez jusqu’ici!” Et ils montèrent au ciel dans la nuée sous les yeux de leurs ennemis.
13 And at that hour, a great earthquake occurred. And one tenth part of the City fell. And the names of the men slain in the earthquake were seven thousand. And the remainder were thrown into fear, and they gave glory to the God of heaven.	13 À ce moment précis il y eut un fort tremblement de terre et le dixième de la Ville s’écroula. Sept mille personnes périrent dans le séisme, et les autres, tout effrayées, rendirent gloire au Dieu du ciel.
14 The second woe has gone out, but behold, the third woe approaches quickly.	14 C’était là le deuxième malheur. Voilà qu’il est passé et le troisième malheur arrive.
15 And the seventh Angel sounded the trumpet. And there were great voices in heaven, saying: “The kingdom of this world has become our Lord’s and his Christ’s, and he shall reign forever and ever. Amen.”	15 Coup de trompette du septième ange! De grandes acclamations se font entendre dans le ciel: "C’est maintenant le règne de notre Seigneur et celui de son Messie: Il régnera pour les siècles des siècles.”
16 And the twenty-four elders, who sit on their thrones in the sight of God, fell upon their faces, and they adored God, saying:	16 À ce moment les 24 Anciens qui siégeaient devant Dieu sur leurs trônes se sont prosternés et ils ont adoré Dieu
17 “We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, who is, and who was, and who is to come. For you have taken your great power, and you have reigned.	17 en disant: Nous te rendons grâce, Seigneur Dieu, Maître de l’univers, toi Qui es et Qui étais, car tu as fait usage de ton pouvoir souverain et tu as commencé à régner.
18 And the nations became angry, but your wrath arrived, and the time for the dead to be judged, and to render a reward to your servants the prophets, and to the saints, and to those who fear your name, small and great, and to exterminate those who have corrupted the earth.”	18 Les nations étaient en fureur, mais ta fureur les a surprises. Le moment était venu de juger les morts et de récompenser tes serviteurs les prophètes, avec tous ceux qui craignent ton nom, les saints grands ou humbles, et tu devais déchirer ceux qui déchirent le monde.
19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven. And the Ark of his Testament was seen in his temple. And there were lightnings and voices and thunders, and an earthquake, and great hail.	19 Le temple de Dieu dans le ciel s’est alors ouvert et l’on a pu voir l’arche de son Alliance à l’intérieur du temple. Il y eut des éclairs, un grand vacarme et du tonnerre. La terre a tremblé et de gros grêlons sont tombés.
