1 Paul, called as an Apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God; and Sosthenes, a brother:	1 Paolo, chiamato apostolo di Gesù Cristo per volontà di Dio, e il fratello Sostene
2 to the Church of God which is at Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints with all who are invoking the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place of theirs and of ours.	2 alla chiesa di Dio che è in Corinto, ai santificati in Cristo Gesù, chiamati santi, a tutti quelli che, dovunque sia, invocano il nome del nostro Signore Gesù Cristo, loro e nostro Signore.
3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.	3 Grazie e pace a voi da Dio padre nostro e dal Signore Gesù Cristo.
4 I give thanks to my God continuously for you because of the grace of God that has been given to you in Christ Jesus.	4 Io rendo continuamente grazie al mio Dio, riguardo a voi, per la grazia di Dio che vi è stata fatta in Gesù Cristo;
5 By that grace, in all things, you have become wealthy in him, in every word and in all knowledge.	5 perche in lui siete divenuti ricchi di ogni cosa, d'ogni dono di parole e di scienza,
6 And so, the testimony of Christ has been strengthened in you.	6 essendo la testimonianza di Cristo confermata in mezzo a voi
7 In this way, nothing is lacking to you in any grace, as you await the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.	7 in modo che non manchi dono alcuno a voi che aspettate la manifestazione del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo,
8 And he, too, will strengthen you, even until the end, without guilt, until the day of the advent of our Lord Jesus Christ.	8 il quale vi farà anche perseverare sino alla fine, perchè siate senza colpa nel giorno della venuta del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo.
9 God is faithful. Through him, you have been called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.	9 Dio, dal quale siete stati chiamati alla società del suo Figliolo Gesù Cristo Signore nostro, è fedele.
10 And so, I beg you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that every one of you speak in the same way, and that there be no schisms among you. So may you become perfect, with the same mind and with the same judgment.	10 Io vi esorto, o fratelli, nel nome del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo, ad essere tutti d'un medesimo linguaggio, a non creare scismi tra voi, ma a stare perfettamente uniti in un medesimo pensiero e in un medesimo sentimento.
11 For it has been indicated to me, about you, my brothers, by those who are with Chloes, that there are contentions among you.	11 Perchè riguardo a voi, o miei fratelli, da quelli di Cloe mi è stato riferito esservi tra voi delle contese.
12 Now I say this because each of you is saying: “Certainly, I am of Paul;” “But I am of Apollo;” “Truly, I am of Cephas;” as well as: “I am of Christ.”	12 Sarebbe a dire che ciascuno di voi dice: « Io poi son di Paolo », « e io di Apollo », « e io di Cefa », « io invece di Cristo ».
13 Has Christ been divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?	13 E' egli diviso Cristo? E' forse stato crocifìsso per voi Paolo? Che forse nel nome di Paolo siete stati battezzati?
14 I give thanks to God that I have baptized none of you, except Crispus and Gaius,	14 Ringrazio Dio di non aver battezzato di voi altri che Crispo e Gaio,
15 lest anyone say that you have been baptized in my name.	15 perchè nessuno possa dire che siete stati battezzati nel mio nome.
16 And I also baptized the household of Stephanus. Other than these, I do not recall if I baptized any others.	16 Ho battezzato anche la famiglia di Stefana: tolti questi, non so di aver battezzato altri.
17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to evangelize: not through the wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ become empty.	17 Del resto, non a battezzare mi ha mandato Cristo, ma a predicare il Vangelo, e senza sapienza di parole, affinché non sia resa vana la croce di Cristo.
18 For the Word of the Cross is certainly foolishness to those who are perishing. But to those who have been saved, that is, to us, it is the power of God.	18 Infatti la dottrina della croce è una follia per quelli che si perdono, ma per quelli che si salvano, per noi, è la potenza di Dio.
19 For it has been written: “I will perish the wisdom of the wise, and I will reject the discernment of the prudent.”	19 Così difatti sta scritto: Sperderò la sapienza dei savi e annienterò la sapienza dei prudenti.
20 Where are the wise? Where are the scribes? Where are the truth-seekers of this age? Has not God made the wisdom of this world into foolishness?	20 Dov'è il savio? Dov'è lo scriba? Dov'è l'indagatore di questo secolo? Non ha forse Dio dimostrata pazza la sapienza di questo mondo?
21 For the world did not know God through wisdom, and so, in the wisdom of God, it pleased God to accomplish the salvation of believers, through the foolishness of our preaching.	21 Difatti, siccome il mondo colla sua sapienza non ha conosciuto Dio, nella sua sapienza piacque a Dio di salvare i credenti colla stoltezza della predicazione.
22 For the Jews ask for signs, and the Greeks seek wisdom.	22 Or mentre i Giudei esigono dei miracoli e i Greci cercan della sapienza,
23 But we are preaching Christ crucified. Certainly, to the Jews, this is a scandal, and to the Gentiles, this is foolishness.	23 noi predichiamo Cristo crocifisso, scandalo per i Giudei e pei Gentili stoltezza.
24 But to those who have been called, Jews as well as Greeks, the Christ is the virtue of God and the wisdom of God.	24 Ma per quelli che sono chiamati, sian Giudei che Greci, Cristo è virtù di Dio e sapienza di Dio;
25 For what is foolishness to God is considered wise by men, and that which is weakness to God is considered strong by men.	25 perche la follìa di Dio è più savia degli uomini, e la debolezza di Dio è più forte degli uomini.
26 So take care of your vocation, brothers. For not many are wise according to the flesh, not many are powerful, not many are noble.	26 Considerate infatti la vostra vocazione, o fratelli, come non son molti i sapienti secondo la carne, non molti i potenti, non molti i nobili;
27 But God has chosen the foolish of the world, so that he may confound the wise. And God has chosen the weak of the world, so that he may confound the strong.	27 ma Dio ha scelto le cose tenute stolte dal mondo per confondere i sapienti, e le cose deboli del mondo Dio le elesse per confondere le forti.
28 And God has chosen the ignoble and contemptible of the world, those who are nothing, so that he may reduce to nothing those who are something.	28 E le ignobili cose del mondo e le spregevoli queste elesse Dio e quelle che non sono per distruggere quelle che sono,
29 So then, nothing that is of the flesh should glory in his sight.	29 affinchè nessuno si possa vantare dinanzi a lui.
30 But you are of him in Christ Jesus, who was made by God to be our wisdom and justice and sanctification and redemption.	30 Or è per lui che voi siete in Cristo Gesù, il quale da Dio è stato fatto per noi sapienza e giustizia e santificazione e redenzione,
31 And so, in the same way, it was written: “Whoever glories, should glory in the Lord.”	31 affinchè, come sta scritto: Chi si gloria, si glorii nel Signore.
