Ezekiel 21

1 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:	1 Mi giunse la parola del Signore:
2 “Son of man, set your face toward Jerusalem, and pour in drops toward the sanctuaries, and prophesy against the soil of Israel.	2 "Figlio dell'uomo, rivolgi la faccia verso il meridione, pronuncia un vaticinio verso l'austro, profetizza sulla foresta del sud.
3 And you shall say to the land of Israel: Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against you, and I will cast my sword from its sheath, and I will slay the just and the impious among you.	3 Dirai alla foresta del sud: Ascolta la parola del Signore: Così dice il Signore Dio: Ora appicco in te un fuoco che ti consumerà ogni legno verde e ogni legno secco; la fiamma ardente non si spegnerà, ogni cosa vi sarà bruciata da sud a nord
4 But in as much as I have slain among you the just and the impious, for this reason my sword will go forth from its sheath against all flesh, from the south even to the north.	4 e ogni creatura vedrà che io, il Signore, l'ho incendiata: non si spegnerà".
5 So may all flesh know that I, the Lord, have led my sword out of its sheath irrevocably.	5 Allora dissi: "Ahi, Dio, mio Signore! Essi vanno dicendo di me: "Non è forse pieno di favole costui?".
6 And as for you, son of man, groan in the breaking of your back, and groan in bitterness before them.	6 Ma mi giunse la parola del Signore:
7 And when they will say to you, ‘Why are you groaning?’ you shall say: ‘On behalf of the report, For it is approaching. And every heart will waste away, and every hand will be broken, and every spirit will be weakened, and water will flow across every knee.’ Behold, it is approaching and it will happen, says the Lord God.”	7 "Figlio dell'uomo, volgi la faccia verso Gerusalemme, pronuncia un vaticinio contro i suoi santuari, profetizza contro il paese d'Israele.
8 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:	8 Di' al paese d'Israele: Così dice il Signore: Eccomi contro di te! Estrarrò la mia spada dal fodero e reciderò da te giusti ed empi.
9 “Son of man, prophesy, and you shall say: Thus says the Lord God: Speak: The sword! The sword has been sharpened and polished!	9 Perché io recida da te giusti ed empi, deve uscire la mia spada dal fodero contro ogni creatura da sud a nord.
10 It has been sharpened, so that it may cut down victims! It has been polished, so that it may shine! You are disturbing the scepter of my son. You have cut down every tree.	10 Ogni creatura riconoscerà che io, il Signore, ho estratto la mia spada dal fodero e che non vi rientrerà più.
11 And I have sent it to be made smooth, so that it may be handled. This sword has been sharpened, and it has been polished, so that it may be in the hand of the one who kills.	11 E tu, figlio dell'uomo, gemi con i lembi disfatti, nell'amarezza gemi al loro cospetto.
12 Cry out and wail, O son of man! For this has been done among my people, this is among all the leaders of Israel, who have fled. They have been handed over to the sword, with my people. Therefore, slap your thigh,	12 Succederà che essi ti domanderanno: "Perché gemi?". E tu dirai: "Per una notizia che è arrivata; ogni cuore è disfatto, le braccia snervate, gli spiriti sono spaventati, le ginocchia si sciolgono". Ecco che è giunta e si avvera. Oracolo di Dio, mio Signore".
13 for it has been tested. And this one, when he will have overthrown the scepter, will not be, says the Lord God.	13 Mi giunse la parola del Signore:
14 You therefore, O son of man, prophesy, and strike hand against hand, and let the sword be doubled, and let the sword of the slain be tripled. This is the sword of the great slaughter, which causes them to be utterly stupefied,	14 "Figlio dell'uomo, profetizza e di': Così dice il mio Signore: Una spada, una spada è affilata ed è anche levigata!
15 and to waste away in heart, and which multiplies ruin. At all their gates, I have presented the consternation of the sword, which has been sharpened and polished so as to shine, which has been dressed for the slaughter.	15 Per ammazzare è affilata, perché essa lampeggi è levigata.
16 Be sharpened! Go to the right or to the left, whichever way is the desire of your face.	16 La si fece levigare per prenderla bene in mano; sì, è affilata la spada; sì, è levigata per darla in mano a chi uccide.
17 And then I will clap hand against hand, and I will fulfill my indignation. I, the Lord, have spoken.”	17 Grida, ulula, figlio dell'uomo, perché incombe ormai sul mio popolo e su tutti i prìncipi d'Israele: essi sono in balìa della spada assieme al mio popolo! Perciò battiti il fianco.
18 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:	18 E' una prova. E che accadrebbe se ci fosse uno scettro sprezzante? Oracolo di Dio, mio Signore.
19 “And as for you, son of man, set for yourself two ways, so that the sword of the king of Babylon may approach. Both shall go forth from one land. And with a hand, he will grasp and cast lots; he will cast at the head of the way of the community.	19 E tu, figlio dell'uomo, profetizza e batti le mani, sia raddoppiata la spada e triplicata; è una spada feritrice, grande spada che ferisce, che rotea loro attorno,
20 You shall appoint a way, so that the sword may approach to Rabbah of the sons of Ammon, or to Judah, into Jerusalem, greatly fortified.	20 sì da far sussultare il cuore. Si moltiplicano i caduti: a tutte le loro porte ho seminato strage. Ahi, spada fatta per lampeggiare, sfoderata per sgozzare!
21 For the king of Babylon stood at the fork, at the head of the two ways, seeking divination, shuffling arrows; he inquired of idols, and he consulted entrails.	21 Colpisci a destra! Penetra a sinistra! Là dov'è diretta la tua lama.
22 To his right was set the divination over Jerusalem, to place battering rams so as to open a mouth for the slaughter, to lift up the voice of wailing, to place battering rams opposite the gates, to cast up a rampart, to build fortifications.	22 Anch'io batto le mani e sfogherò il mio furore. Io, il Signore, ho parlato".
23 And he shall be, in their eyes, like someone consulting an oracle in vain, or imitating the leisure of Sabbaths. But he will call to mind iniquities, so that it will be captured.	23 Mi giunse la parola del Signore:
24 Therefore, thus says the Lord God: Because you have been remembered in your iniquities, and you have revealed your betrayals, and your sins have appeared within all your plans, because, I say, you have been remembered, you will be captured by a hand.	24 "Tu, figlio dell'uomo, traccia due strade, per il passaggio della spada del re di Babilonia; partiranno entrambe dal medesimo paese. Poni un'indicazione stradale; disegna un'indicazione al bivio della città.
25 But as for you, O impious leader of Israel, whose day has arrived that was predetermined at the time of iniquity:	25 La strada della spada sia diretta a Rabbà degli Ammoniti e a Giuda, arroccato in Gerusalemme.
26 Thus says the Lord God: Take away the diadem, remove the crown. Is this not what has exalted the lowly one, and brought low the sublime one?	26 Infatti il re di Babilonia sta alla biforcazione, al bivio, per avere una divinazione. Ha agitato le frecce, ha interrogato i penati, ha esaminato il fegato.
27 Iniquity, iniquity, iniquity I will make it. And this was not done until the one arrived to whom judgment belongs, and I will hand it over to him.	27 Nella sua destra è finito il responso "Gerusalemme", e così egli piazza gli arieti, apre la bocca per gridare, fa echeggiare il grido di guerra, piazza gli arieti alle porte, innalza il terrapieno e costruisce la trincea.
28 And as for you, son of man, prophesy, and say: Thus says the Lord God to the sons of Ammon, and to their disgrace, and you shall say: O sword, O sword, unsheathe yourself so as to slay; polish yourself so as to kill and to shine,	28 Ma per essi ciò sarà una falsa divinazione, così sembrerà loro! Essi che hanno fatto giuramenti! Ma intanto egli è l'accusatore della loro colpa, perché siano presi al laccio!
29 while they look upon you in vain, and they divine lies, so that you may be given over to the necks of the wounded impious, whose day has arrived that was predetermined at the time of iniquity.	29 Perciò così dice Dio, mio Signore: Poiché accusate da voi stessi le vostre colpe, svelando le vostre ribellioni e mostrando i vostri peccati con tutte le vostre azioni, poiché le accusate voi stessi, sarete presi al laccio.
30 Be returned to your sheath! I will judge you in the place where you were created, in the land of your nativity.	30 E quanto a te, contaminato empio principe d'Israele, di cui è arrivato il giorno, ora che la colpa è arrivata alla fine,
31 And I will pour out upon you my indignation. In the fire of my fury, I will fan you, and I will give you over to the hands of cruel men, who have devised destruction.	31 così dice Dio, mio Signore: Deponi il turbante, lèvati la corona! Tutto sarà trasformato: ciò che è basso sarà elevato e ciò che è alto sarà abbassato.
32 You will be food for the fire; your blood will be in the midst of the land; you will be delivered to oblivion. For I, the Lord, have spoken.”	32 Rovina, rovina, rovina provocherò! Ma questo non accadrà finché venga colui cui tocca il giudizio; è a lui che lo riservo".
	33 "Tu, figlio dell'uomo, profetizza e di': Così dice Dio, mio Signore, riguardo ai figli di Ammon e al loro scherno: O spada sguainata per sgozzare, levigata per annientare, per lampeggiare,
	34 mentre essi hanno false visioni e fanno divinazioni menzognere su di te, io ti destino alle gole di quegli empi contaminati, di cui è arrivato il giorno, ora che la colpa è arrivata alla fine.
	35 Rientra nel fodero. Nel luogo dove fosti creato, nel paese dove sei nato, ti giudicherò.
	36 Riverserò su di te la mia rabbia, ti soffierò contro il fuoco della mia ira; ti darò in potere di uomini incendiari, artefici di sterminio.
	37 Sarai preda del fuoco; il tuo sangue è sparso per il paese. Non sarai più ricordato. Io, il Signore, ho parlato".
