1 The understanding of Ethan the Ezrahite.	1 Istruzione di Ethan Ezrahita. Le misericordie del Signore canterò io eternamente.
2 I will sing the mercies of the Lord in eternity. I will announce your truth with my mouth, from generation to generation.	2 A tutte le generazioni annunzierò colla mia bocca la tua verità.
3 For you have said: Mercy will be built in the heavens, unto eternity. Your truth will be prepared there.	3 Imperocché tu dicesti, che la misericordia sarebbe stabilita per sempre ne'cieli, e che sopra di essi poserebbe la tua verità.
4 I have set up a covenant with my elect. I have sworn to David my servant:	4 Io ho fermata alleanza co' miei eletti; ho giurato a Davidde mio servo: fino all'eternità serberò stabile il seme tuo.
5 I will prepare your offspring, even in eternity. And I will build up your throne, from generation to generation.	5 Ed io per tutte le generazioni farò stabile il tuo trono.
6 The heavens will confess your miracles, Lord, and also your truth, in the Church of the saints.	6 I cieli predicheranno, o Signore, le tue meraviglie: e alla tua verità (darà laude) la Chiesa de' santi;
7 For who among the clouds is equal to the Lord? Who among the sons of God is like God?	7 Imperocché, e chi sarà a Dio aguale nell'alto? qual de' figliuoli di Dio sarà simile a Dio?
8 God is glorified by the counsel of the saints. He is great and terrible above all those who are around him.	8 Dio, che è glorificato nel concilio de' santi: grande, e terribile a tutti, quelli, che a lui stanno d'intorno.
9 O Lord, God of hosts, who is like you? You are powerful, Lord, and your truth is all around you.	9 Signore Dio degli eserciti, chi è simile a te? Possente se' tu, o Signore, e intorno a te la tua verità.
10 You rule over the power of the sea, and you even mitigate the movement of its waves.	10 Tu comandi all'orgoglio del mare, e il movimento de' flutti di lui tu reprimi.
11 You have humbled the arrogant one, like one who has been wounded. You have scattered your enemies with the arm of your strength.	11 Tu umiliasti il superbo, come un che è ferito a morte: col robusto tuo braccio tu spergesti i tuoi nemici.
12 Yours are the heavens, and yours is the earth. You founded the whole world in all its fullness.	12 Tuoi sono i cieli, e tua è la terra: tu il mondo formasti, e tutto quello, ond'egli è ripieno, tu creasti l'aquilone, e il mare.
13 You created the north and the sea. Tabor and Hermon will exult in your name.	13 Il Thabor, e l'Hermon esulteranno nel nome tuo: potente cosa egli è il tuo braccio.
14 Your arm acts with power. Let your hand be strengthened, and let your right hand be exalted.	14 Sia robusta la mano tua, e celebrata sia la tua destra: la giustizia, e l'equità sono la base del tuo trono;
15 Justice and judgment are the preparation of your throne. Mercy and truth will precede your face.	15 La misericordia, e la verità anderanno innanzi a te: beato il popolo, che sa in te allegrarsi.
16 Blessed is the people that knows jubilation. They will walk in the light of your countenance, O Lord,	16 Signore, alla luce della tua faccia cammineranno, e nel nome tuo esulteranno tuttodì, e mediante la tua giustizia saranno esaltati.
17 and they will exult in your name all day long, and they will be exalted in your justice.	17 Perocché gloria della loro fortezza se' tu; e per la buona tua volontà il poter nostro sarà esaltato;
18 For you are the glory of their virtue, and in your goodness, our horn will be exalted.	18 Imperocché protezione nostra egli è il Signore, e il Santo di Israele, che è nostro Re.
19 For our assumption is of the Lord, and it is of our king, the holy one of Israel.	19 Tu parlasti allora in visione ai tuoi Santi, e dicesti: Ho preparato in un uomo potente l'aiuto, e ho esaltato quello, che io elessi di mezzo al mia popolo.
20 Then you spoke in a vision to your holy ones, and you said: I have stationed help with the powerful one, and I have exalted the elect one from my people.	20 Ho trovato Davidde mio servo: lo ho unto coll'olio mio santo;
21 I have found my servant David. I have anointed him with my holy oil.	21 Imperocché la mano mia lo assisterà, e farallo forte il mio braccio.
22 For my hand will assist him, and my arm will fortify him.	22 Non guadagnerà nulla sopra di lui il nemico, e il figliuolo di iniquità, non saprà fargli danno.
23 The enemy will have no advantage over him, nor will the son of iniquity be positioned to harm him.	23 E distruggerò dinanzi a lui i suoi nemici: e metterò in fuga color, che lo odiano.
24 And I will cut down his enemies before his face. And those who hate him, I will turn to flight.	24 E con lui sarà la mia verità, e la mia misericordia: e nel nome mio crescerà egli in potenza.
25 And my truth and my mercy will be with him. And his horn will be exalted in my name.	25 E la mano di lui stenderò sopra il mare, e la sua destra sopra i fiumi.
26 And I will place his hand on the sea and his right hand on the rivers.	26 Egli a me griderà: Tu se' il Padre mio, mio Dio, e principio di mia salute.
27 He will invoke me: “You are my father, my God, and the support of my salvation.”	27 E io lo costituirò primogenito più eccelso dei re della terra.
28 And I will make him the first-born, preeminent before the kings of the earth.	28 A lui conserverò la mia misericordia in eterno, e la mia alleanza con lui sarà stabile.
29 I will preserve my mercy for him eternally, and my covenant for him faithfully.	29 E il seme di lui farò che sussista per tutti i secoli, e il trono di lui quanto i giorni del cielo.
30 And I will set his offspring from generation to generation, and his throne like the days of heaven.	30 Che se i figliuoli di lui abbandoneranno la mia legge, e non cammineranno secondo i miei comandamenti,
31 But if his sons abandon my law, and if they do not walk in my judgments,	31 Se violeranno i giusti miei documenti, e non osserveranno i miei precetti:
32 if they profane my justices, and if they do not keep my commandments:	32 Visiterò colla verga le loro iniquità: e colla sferza i loro peccati.
33 I will visit their iniquities with a rod, and their sins with a beating.	33 Ma non torrò a lui la mia misericordia, e non farò torto alla mia verità:
34 But I will not scatter my mercy from him, and I will not do harm to my truth.	34 E non violerò il mio patto, e non ritratterò le parole, che vengono dalla mia bocca.
35 And I will not profane my covenant, and I will not make void that which proceeds from my lips.	35 Una volta per sempre giurai per la mia santità: non mancherò di parola ta Davidde: il seme di lui durerà eternamente.
36 I have sworn by my holiness one time: I will not lie to David,	36 E il trono di lui sarà in eterno dinanzi a me, come il sole, e come la luna piena, e come il testimone fedele nel cielo.
37 his offspring will remain for eternity. And his throne will be like the sun in my sight,	37 Tu però hai rigettato, e messo in non cale, e allontanato da te il tuo Cristo.
38 and, like the moon, it is perfected in eternity, and it is a faithful witness in heaven.	38 Hai rotta l'alleanza col tuo servo: hai conculcato per terra il tuo sagro diadema.
39 Yet, truly, you have rejected and despised, you have pushed away, my Christ.	39 Hai distratti tutti i suoi ripari; ne luoghi forti di lui hai posto lo sbigottimento.
40 You have overthrown the covenant of your servant. You have profaned his sanctuary on earth.	40 Tutti que', che passavan per via lo han depredato: è divenuto lo scherno de suoi vicini.
41 You have destroyed all his fences. You have made his territory dreadful.	41 Hai dato gagliardia alla mano di coloro, che lo insultano: rallegrasti tutti i suoi nemici.
42 All who pass by the way have plundered him. He has become a disgrace to his neighbors.	42 Hai renduto ottuso il taglio della fina spada, e nella guerra non gli hai dato soccorso.
43 You have exalted the right hand of those who oppress him. You have brought joy to all his enemies.	43 Hai annicchilato il suo splendore: e bai spezzato in terra il suo trono.
44 You have diverted the help of his sword, and you have not assisted him in battle.	44 Hai accorciati i giorni di sua bella età, lo hai ricoperto d'ignominia.
45 You have torn him away from cleansing, and you have smashed his throne down to the ground.	45 Fino a quando, o Signore, ti terrai ascoso continuamente e come fuoco divamperà il tuo sdegno?
46 You have reduced the days of his time. You have flooded him with confusion.	46 Ricorditi qual sia l'esser mio: perocché non hai tu soggettati alla vanità tutti i figlinoli degli uomini?
47 How long, O Lord? Will you turn away unto the end? Will your wrath flare up like a fire?	47 Qual è quell'uomo, che avrà vita, senza veder mai la morte? chi trarrà l'anima sua dalle mani d'inferno?
48 Remember what my substance is. For could you really have appointed all the sons of men in vain?	48 Dove sono, o Signore, le antiche tue misericordie, cui tu giurasti a Davidde per la tua verità?
49 Who is the man that will live, and yet not see death? Who will rescue his own soul from the hand of the underworld?	49 Ricordati, o Signore, de' rimproveri (che nel mio seno celati io tengo), che sono fatti a' tuoi servi da molte genti.
50 O Lord, where are your mercies of antiquity, just as you swore to David in your truth?	50 De' rimproveri fatti, o Signore, da' tuoi nemici, i quali ci hanno rimproverato la mutazione del tuo Cristo.
51 Be mindful, O Lord, of the disgrace of your servants (which I have sustained in my sinews) among many nations.	51 Benedetto il Signore in eterno: cosi sia, cosi sia.
52 With these, your enemies have reproached you, O Lord; with these, they have reproached the commutation of your Christ.
53 Blessed is the Lord for all eternity. Amen. Amen.
