Unto the end. With Praises. A Psalm of Asaph. A Canticle to the Assyrians. | 1 [For the choirmaster Tune: 'Do not destroy' Psalm Of Asaph Song] We give thanks to you, God, wegive thanks to you, as we cal upon your name, as we recount your wonders. |
In Judea, God is known. In Israel, his name is great. | 2 'At the appointed time I myself shal dispense justice. |
And his place has been formed with peace. And his dwelling place is in Zion. | 3 The earth quakes and al its inhabitants; it is I who hold its pil ars firm.Pause |
In that place, he has broken the powers of the bows, the shield, the sword, and the battle. | 4 'I said to the boastful, "Do not boast!" to the wicked, "Do not flaunt your strength! |
You illuminate wondrously from the mountains of eternity. | 5 Do not flaunt your strength so proudly, do not talk with that arrogant stance." ' |
All the foolish of heart have been disturbed. They have slept their sleep, and all the men of riches have found nothing in their hands. | 6 No longer from east to west, no longer in the mountainous desert, |
At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, those who were mounted on horseback have fallen asleep. | 7 is God judging in uprightness, bringing some down, raising others. |
You are terrible, and so, who can withstand you? From thence is your wrath. | 8 Yahweh is holding a cup fil ed with a heady blend of wine; he wil pour it, they wil drink it to the dregs, al the wicked on earth wil drink it. |
You have caused judgment to be heard from heaven. The earth trembled and was quieted, | 9 But I shal speak out for ever, shal make music for the God of Jacob. |
when God rose up in judgment in order to bring salvation to all the meek of the earth. | 10 I shal break down al the strength of the wicked, and the strength of the upright will rise high. |
For the thinking of man will confess to you, and the legacy of his thinking will keep a feast day to you.
Make vows and pay them to the Lord, your God. All you who surround him bring gifts: to him who is terrible,
even to him who takes away the spirit of leaders, to him who is terrible with the kings of the earth. |
