CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINKING JAMES BIBLE
A Psalm of David. When he fled from the face of his son, Absalom.1 LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
Lord, why have those who trouble me been multiplied? Many rise up against me.2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.
Many say to my soul, “There is no salvation for him in his God.”3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
But you, Lord, are my supporter, my glory, and the one who raises up my head.4 I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.
I have cried out to the Lord with my voice, and he has heard me from his holy mountain.5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.
I have slept, and I have been stupefied. But I awakened because the Lord has taken me up.6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
I will not fear the thousands of people surrounding me. Rise up, Lord. Save me, my God.7 Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
For you have struck all those who oppose me without cause. You have broken the teeth of sinners.8 Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.
Salvation is of the Lord, and your blessing is upon your people.
