For the First Sabbath. A Psalm of David. The earth and all its fullness belong to the Lord: the whole world and all that dwells in it.1 A psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; there is nothing I lack.
For he has founded it upon the seas, and he has prepared it upon the rivers.2 In green pastures you let me graze; to safe waters you lead me;
Who will ascend to the mountain of the Lord? And who will stand in his holy place?3 you restore my strength. You guide me along the right path for the sake of your name.
The innocent of hands and the clean of heart, who has not received his soul in vain, nor sworn deceitfully to his neighbor.4 Even when I walk through a dark valley, I fear no harm for you are at my side; your rod and staff give me courage.
He will receive a blessing from the Lord, and mercy from God, his Saviour.5 You set a table before me as my enemies watch; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
This is the generation that seeks him, that seeks the face of the God of Jacob.6 Only goodness and love will pursue me all the days of my life; I will dwell in the house of the LORD for years to come.
Lift up your gates, you princes, and be lifted up, eternal gates. And the King of Glory shall enter.
Who is this King of Glory? The Lord who is strong and powerful; the Lord powerful in battle.
Lift up your gates, you princes, and be lifted up, eternal gates. And the King of Glory shall enter.
Who is this King of Glory? The Lord of virtue. He himself is the King of Glory.
