A Psalm of David. The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.” | 1 Psalmus David. Dixit Dominus Domino meo : Sede a dextris meis, donec ponam inimicos tuos scabellum pedum tuorum. |
The Lord will send forth the scepter of your virtue from Zion. Rule in the midst of your enemies. | 2 Virgam virtutis tuæ emittet Dominus ex Sion : dominare in medio inimicorum tuorum. |
It is with you from the beginning, in the day of your virtue, in the splendor of the saints. From conception, before the light-bearer, I begot you. | 3 Tecum principium in die virtutis tuæ in splendoribus sanctorum : ex utero, ante luciferum, genui te. |
The Lord has sworn, and he will not repent: “You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.” | 4 Juravit Dominus, et non p?nitebit eum : Tu es sacerdos in æternum secundum ordinem Melchisedech. |
The Lord is at your right hand. He has broken kings in the day of his wrath. | 5 Dominus a dextris tuis ; confregit in die iræ suæ reges. |
He will judge between the nations; he will fill up ruination. He will shatter heads in the land of the many. | 6 Judicabit in nationibus, implebit ruinas ; conquassabit capita in terra multorum. |
He will drink from the torrent on the way. Because of this, he will exalt the head. | 7 De torrente in via bibet ; propterea exaltabit caput. |
