CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINLXX
The prayer of the pauper, when he was anxious, and so he poured out his petition in the sight of the Lord.1 προσευχη τω πτωχω οταν ακηδιαση και εναντιον κυριου εκχεη την δεησιν αυτου
O Lord, hear my prayer, and let my outcry reach you.2 εισακουσον κυριε της προσευχης μου και η κραυγη μου προς σε ελθατω
Do not turn your face away from me. In whatever day that I am in trouble, incline your ear to me. In whatever day that I will call upon you, heed me quickly.3 μη αποστρεψης το προσωπον σου απ' εμου εν η αν ημερα θλιβωμαι κλινον το ους σου προς με εν η αν ημερα επικαλεσωμαι σε ταχυ εισακουσον μου
For my days have faded away like smoke, and my bones have dried out like firewood.4 οτι εξελιπον ωσει καπνος αι ημεραι μου και τα οστα μου ωσει φρυγιον συνεφρυγησαν
I have been cut down like hay, and my heart has withered, for I had forgotten to eat my bread.5 επληγη ωσει χορτος και εξηρανθη η καρδια μου οτι επελαθομην του φαγειν τον αρτον μου
Before the voice of my groaning, my bone has adhered to my flesh.6 απο φωνης του στεναγμου μου εκολληθη το οστουν μου τη σαρκι μου
I have become like a pelican in solitude. I have become like a night raven in a house.7 ωμοιωθην πελεκανι ερημικω εγενηθην ωσει νυκτικοραξ εν οικοπεδω
I have kept vigil, and I have become like a solitary sparrow on a roof.8 ηγρυπνησα και εγενηθην ωσει στρουθιον μοναζον επι δωματι
All day long my enemies reproached me, and those who praised me swore oaths against me.9 ολην την ημεραν ωνειδιζον με οι εχθροι μου και οι επαινουντες με κατ' εμου ωμνυον
For I chewed on ashes like bread, and I mixed weeping into my drink.10 οτι σποδον ωσει αρτον εφαγον και το πομα μου μετα κλαυθμου εκιρνων
By the face of your anger and indignation, you lifted me up and threw me down.11 απο προσωπου της οργης σου και του θυμου σου οτι επαρας κατερραξας με
My days have declined like a shadow, and I have dried out like hay.12 αι ημεραι μου ωσει σκια εκλιθησαν και εγω ωσει χορτος εξηρανθην
But you, O Lord, endure for eternity, and your memorial is from generation to generation.13 συ δε κυριε εις τον αιωνα μενεις και το μνημοσυνον σου εις γενεαν και γενεαν
You will rise up and take pity on Zion, for it is time for its mercy, for the time has come.14 συ αναστας οικτιρησεις την σιων οτι καιρος του οικτιρησαι αυτην οτι ηκει καιρος
For its stones have pleased your servants, and they will take pity on its land.15 οτι ευδοκησαν οι δουλοι σου τους λιθους αυτης και τον χουν αυτης οικτιρησουσιν
And the Gentiles will fear your name, O Lord, and all the kings of the earth your glory.16 και φοβηθησονται τα εθνη το ονομα κυριου και παντες οι βασιλεις της γης την δοξαν σου
For the Lord has built up Zion, and he will be seen in his glory.17 οτι οικοδομησει κυριος την σιων και οφθησεται εν τη δοξη αυτου
He has noticed of the prayer of the humble, and he has not despised their petition.18 επεβλεψεν επι την προσευχην των ταπεινων και ουκ εξουδενωσεν την δεησιν αυτων
Let these things be written in another generation, and the people who will be created will praise the Lord.19 γραφητω αυτη εις γενεαν ετεραν και λαος ο κτιζομενος αινεσει τον κυριον
For he has gazed from his high sanctuary. From heaven, the Lord has beheld the earth.20 οτι εξεκυψεν εξ υψους αγιου αυτου κυριος εξ ουρανου επι την γην επεβλεψεν
So may he hear the groans of those in shackles, in order that he may release the sons of the slain.21 του ακουσαι τον στεναγμον των πεπεδημενων του λυσαι τους υιους των τεθανατωμενων
So may they announce the name of the Lord in Zion and his praise in Jerusalem:22 του αναγγειλαι εν σιων το ονομα κυριου και την αινεσιν αυτου εν ιερουσαλημ
while the people convene, along with kings, in order that they may serve the Lord.23 εν τω συναχθηναι λαους επι το αυτο και βασιλειας του δουλευειν τω κυριω
He responded to him in the way of his virtue: Declare to me the brevity of my days.24 απεκριθη αυτω εν οδω ισχυος αυτου την ολιγοτητα των ημερων μου αναγγειλον μοι
Do not call me back in the middle of my days: your years are from generation to generation.25 μη αναγαγης με εν ημισει ημερων μου εν γενεα γενεων τα ετη σου
In the beginning, O Lord, you founded the earth. And the heavens are the work of your hands.26 κατ' αρχας συ κυριε την γην εθεμελιωσας και εργα των χειρων σου εισιν οι ουρανοι
They will perish, but you remain. And all will grow old like a garment. And, like a blanket, you will change them, and they will be changed.27 αυτοι απολουνται συ δε διαμενεις και παντες ως ιματιον παλαιωθησονται και ωσει περιβολαιον αλλαξεις αυτους και αλλαγησονται
Yet you are ever yourself, and your years will not decline.28 συ δε ο αυτος ει και τα ετη σου ουκ εκλειψουσιν
The sons of your servants will live, and their offspring will be guided aright in every age.29 οι υιοι των δουλων σου κατασκηνωσουσιν και το σπερμα αυτων εις τον αιωνα κατευθυνθησεται
