Tobit 13

1 And so, the elder Tobit, opening his mouth, blessed the Lord, and he said: “O Lord, you are great in eternity and your kingdom is with all ages.	1 Il vecchio Tobia aperse la bocca a benedire il Signore e disse: « Tu sei grande in eterno, o Signore, e a tutti i secoli si estende il tuo regno.
2 For you scourge, and you save. You lead down to the grave, and you bring up again. And there is no one who can escape from your hand.	2 Tu flagelli e salvi, tu prostri nel sepolcro e ne fai risorgere: nessuno può sottrarsi alla tua mano.
3 Confess to the Lord, O sons of Israel, and praise him in the sight of the nations.	3 Date gloria al Signore, o figli d'Israele, magnificatelo nel cospetto delle nazioni:
4 For, indeed, he has dispersed you among the Gentiles, who are ignorant of him, that you may proclaim his wonders, and that you may cause them to know that there is no other almighty God, except him.	4 Egli v'ha dispersi tra le genti che non lo conoscono, perchè voi raccontiate le sue maraviglie e facciate loro conoscere che fuori di lui non v'è altro Dio onnipotente.
5 He has chastised us because of our iniquities, and he will save us because of his mercy.	5 Egli ci ha castigati per le nostre iniquità. Egli ci salverà per la sua misericordia.
6 Therefore, look upon what he has done for us, and, with fear and trembling, confess to him. And extol the King of all ages with your works.	6 Or, considerando quanto ha fatto con noi, dategli lode con timore e tremore, ed esaltate colle vostre opere il re dei secoli.
7 But as for me, I will confess him in the land of my captivity. For he has revealed his majesty within a sinful nation.	7 Io poi, nella terra della mia schiavitù, gli darò lode, perchè ha fatto risplendere la sua gloria sopra una nazione peccatrice.
8 And so, be converted, you sinners, and do justice in the presence of God, believing that he will act in his mercy toward you.	8 Ora adunque convertitevi, o peccatori, fate ciò che è giusto dinanzi a Dio, sicuri che vi userà misericordia.
9 But I and my soul will rejoice in him.	9 Io poi con tutta l'anima mia, mi rallegrerò in lui.
10 Bless the Lord, all you his elect. Keep days of rejoicing, and confess to him.	10 Benedite il Signore, voi tutti, o suoi eletti, celebrate giorni di letizia, e dategli lode.
11 O Jerusalem, the city of God, the Lord has chastised you for the works of your hands.	11 Gerusalemme, città di Dio, il Signore ti ha castigata a causa delle opere tue:
12 Confess to the Lord with your good things, and bless the God of all ages, so that he may rebuild his tabernacle in you, and he may recall all the captives to you, and you may be glad in all ages and forever.	12 ringrazia il Signore per i tuoi beni e benedici il Dio dei secoli, affinchè riedifichi in te il suo Tabernacolo, e riconduca a te tutti i deportati, e tu ne gioisca per tutti i secoli dei secoli.
13 You will shine with a splendid light, and all the ends of the earth will adore by you.	13 Tu brillerai di luce splendida, tutti i popoli della terra a te si prostreranno;
14 Nations from far away will come to you, bringing gifts. And in you, they shall adore the Lord, and they will hold your land in sanctification.	14 le nazioni verranno a te da lontano, e, portando doni, adoreranno in te il Signore, e terranno come santa la tua terra,
15 For they will invoke the Great Name in you.	15 perchè dentro di te invocheranno il grande nome.
16 Those who despise you will be cursed, and all those who blaspheme by you will be condemned, and those who build you up will be blessed.	16 Quelli che ti disprezzeranno saran maledetti; saran condannati tutti quelli che ti bestemmieranno; saran benedetti tutti quelli che t'avran riedificata.
17 But you will rejoice in your sons, because they will all be blessed, and they will be gathered together for the Lord.	17 Tu sarai felice nei tuoi figli, perchè tutti saran benedetti, e si riuniranno presso il Signore.
18 Blessed are all those who love you and who rejoice in your peace.	18 Beati tutti quelli che ti amano e gioiscono della tua pace.
19 Bless the Lord, O my soul, for the Lord our God has freed Jerusalem, his city, from every one of her tribulations.	19 Anima mia, benedici il Signore, perchè ha liberato Gerusalemme sua città da tutte le sue tribolazioni, il Signore nostro Dio.
20 Happy will I be, if any of my offspring will be left to see the brightness of Jerusalem.	20 Oh, me beato! se vi sarà qualche rampollo della mia stirpe a vedere lo splendore di Gerusalemme!
21 The gates of Jerusalem will be built from sapphire and emerald, and all its walls will be surrounded with precious stones.	21 Le porte di Gerusalemme saran di zaffiri e di smeraldi; e tutto il recinto delle sue mura (sarà) di pietre preziose.
22 All its streets will be paved with stones, white and clean. And ‘Alleluia’ will be sung throughout its neighborhoods.	22 Tutte le sue piazze saran lastricate di pietre candide, e per le sue contrade si canterà alleluia.
23 Blessed be the Lord, who has exalted it, and may he reign over it, forever and ever. Amen.”	23 Benedetto sia il Signore che l'ha esaltata, Egli regni sopra di lei pei secoli dei secoli. Così sia ».
