1 Chronicles 14

1 Also, Hiram, the king of Tyre, sent messengers to David, and cedar wood, and artisans of walls and of wood, so that they might build a house for him.	1 Jiram, el rey de Tiro, envió a David mensajeros con maderas de cedro, albañiles y carpinteros, para edificarle una casa.
2 And David realized that the Lord had confirmed him as king over Israel, and that his kingdom had been lifted up over his people Israel.	2 Así David reconoció que el Señor lo había afianzado como rey sobre Israel, porque su reino había sido enaltecido a causa de su pueblo Israel.
3 Also, David took other wives in Jerusalem. And he conceived sons and daughters.	3 David tomó como esposas a otras mujeres en Jerusalén y tuvo más hijos e hijas.
4 And these are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua and Shobab, Nathan and Solomon,	4 Estos son los nombres de los hijos que le nacieron en Jerusalén: Samúa, Sobab, Natán y Salomón,
5 Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpelet,	5 Ibjar, Elisúa y Elpálet,
6 as well as Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,	6 Nogá, Néfeg y Iafía,
7 Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphelet.	7 Elisamá, Beeliadá y Elifélet.
8 Then, hearing that David had been anointed as king over all of Israel, all the Philistines ascended so that they might seek him. But when David had heard of it, he went out to meet them.	8 Cuando los filisteos oyeron que habían ungido a David como rey de todo Israel, subieron para atacarlo. Pero David lo supo y les salió al encuentro.
9 Now the Philistines, arriving, spread out in the Valley of the Rephaim.	9 Los filisteos vinieron y se desplegaron por el valle de Refaím.
10 And so David consulted the Lord, saying, “Shall I ascend to the Philistines, and will you deliver them into my hand?” And the Lord said to him, “Ascend, and I will deliver them into your hand.”	10 David entonces consultó a Dios: «¿Debo atacar a los filisteos? ¿Los entregarás en mis manos?». Y el Señor le respondió: «¡Sube, y yo los entregaré en tus manos!».
11 And when they had ascended to Baal-perazim, David struck them there, and he said: “God has divided my enemies by my hand, just as waters are divided.” And therefore the name of that place was called Baal-perazim.	11 Ellos subieron a Baal Perasím, y allí David los derrotó. Entonces dijo: «Dios ha abierto ante mí una brecha entre mis enemigos, como una brecha abierta por las aguas». Por eso se llamó a ese lugar Baal Perasím –que significa «Señor de las Brechas»–.
12 And they left behind their gods in that place, and so David ordered them to be burned.	12 Los filisteos abandonaron allí a sus dioses, y David dijo: «¡Que sean arrojados al fuego!».
13 And then, at another time, the Philistines invaded, and they spread out in the valley.	13 Los filisteos volvieron a desplegarse por el valle.
14 And again, David consulted God. And God said to him: “You shall not ascend after them. Draw away from them. And you shall come against them opposite the balsam trees.	14 David consultó nuevamente a Dios, y él le respondió: «¡No subas a perseguirlos! Da una vuelta por detrás de ellos y enfréntalos desde el lado de las balsameras.
15 And when you hear a sound approaching in the tops of the balsam trees, then you shall go forth to war. For God has gone forth before you, so that he may strike down the army of the Philistines.”	15 Cuando oigas ruidos de pasos sobre la copa de las balsameras, ataca decididamente, porque Dios saldrá delante de ti para derrotar al ejército de los filisteos».
16 Therefore, David did just as God had instructed him. And he struck down the army of the Philistines, from Gibeon as far as Gazera.	16 David hizo lo que el Señor le había ordenado y derrotó al ejército de los filisteos, desde Gabaón hasta Guézer.
17 And the name of David became well-known in all the regions. And the Lord placed the fear of him over all the nations.	17 La fama de David se extendió por todas las regiones, porque el Señor lo hizo temible delante de todos los pueblos.
