1 So if in Christ there is anything that will move you, any incentive in love, any fel owship in the Spirit, anywarmth or sympathy -- I appeal to you,	1 Portanto, se há alguma consolação em Cristo, se algum conforto de caridade, se alguma união de espírito, se alguma ternura e compaixão,
2 make my joy complete by being of a single mind, one in love, one in heart and one in mind.	2 tornai completo o meu gozo, tendo todos o mesmo pensar, a mesma caridade, uma só alma, um mesmo sentimento;
3 Nothing is to be done out of jealousy or vanity; instead, out of humility of mind everyone should givepreference to others,	3 nada façais por espírito de partido ou por vanglória, mas cada um, por humildade, considere os outros superiores a si,
4 everyone pursuing not selfish interests but those of others.	4 não atendendo (só) aos seus próprios interesses, mas também aos dos outros.
5 Make your own the mind of Christ Jesus:	5 Tende entre vós os mesmos sentimentos que se deve ter em Jesus Cristo,
6 Who, being in the form of God, did not count equality with God something to be grasped.	6 o qual, existindo na forma (ou natureza) de Deus, não julgou que fosse uma usurpação o seu ser igual a Deus,
7 But he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, becoming as human beings are; and being in everyway like a human being,	7 mas aniquilou-se a si mesmo, tomando a forma de servo, tornando-se semelhante aos homens e sendo reconhecido, por condição, como homem.
8 he was humbler yet, even to accepting death, death on a cross.	8 Humilhou-se a si mesmo, fazendo-se obediente até à morte, e morte da cruz.
9 And for this God raised him high, and gave him the name which is above al other names;	9 Por isso também Deus o exaltou e lhe deu um nome que está acima de todo o nome,
10 so that al beings in the heavens, on earth and in the underworld, should bend the knee at the name ofJesus	10 de modo que, ao nome de Jesus, se dobre todo o joelho no céu, na terra e no inferno,
11 and that every tongue should acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord, to the glory of God the Father.	11 e toda a língua confesse que Jesus Cristo é Senhor, na glória de Deus Pai.
12 So, my dear friends, you have always been obedient; your obedience must not be limited to timeswhen I am present. Now that I am absent it must be more in evidence, so work out your salvation in fear andtrembling.	12 Portanto, meus caríssimos, como sempre tendes sido obedientes, trabalhai na vossa salvação com temor e tremor, não só na minha presença, mas muito mais agora na minha ausência.
13 It is God who, for his own generous purpose, gives you the intention and the powers to act.	13 Porque Deus é o que opera em vós o querer e o executar, segundo o seu beneplácito.
14 Let your behaviour be free of murmuring and complaining	14 Fazei, pois, todas as coisas sem murmuração nem contestações,
15 so that you remain faultless and pure, unspoilt children of God surrounded by a deceitful andunderhand brood, shining out among them like bright stars in the world,	15 a fim de serdes irrepreensíveis e sinceros filhos de Deus, sem culpa, no meio de uma nação depravada e corrompida, onde brilhais como astros do mundo,
16 proffering to it the Word of life. Then I shall have reason to be proud on the Day of Christ, for it wil notbe for nothing that I have run the race and toiled so hard.	16 conservando a palavra de vida (que vos preguei), para eu ter a glória, no dia (da segunda vinda) de Cristo, de não haver corrido nem trabalhado em vão.
17 Indeed, even if my blood has to be poured as a libation over your sacrifice and the offering of yourfaith, then I shal be glad and join in your rejoicing-	17 Mas, ainda que o meu sangue deva servir de libação sobre o sacrifício e a oferenda da vossa fé, alegro-me e congratulo-me com todos vós.
18 and in the same way, you must be glad and join in my rejoicing.	18 E vós também alegrai-vos e congratulai-vos comigo.
19 I hope, in the Lord Jesus, to send Timothy to you soon, so that my mind may be set at rest when I hearhow you are.	19 Espero, no Senhor Jesus enviar-vos brevemente Timóteo, para que eu também fique animado, recebendo noticias de vós,
20 There is nobody else that I can send who is like him and cares as sincerely for your well-being;	20 porque não tenho ninguém como ele, unido comigo em sentimentos, que se interesse por vós sinceramente:
21 they al want to work for themselves, not for Jesus Christ.	21 Com efeito, todos buscam os seus próprios interesses, e não os que são de Jesus Cristo.
22 But you know what sort of person he has proved himself, working with me for the sake of the gospellike a son with his father.	22 Sabeis que ele é de uma virtude provada e que, como um filho com o pai, serviu comigo o Evangelho.
23 That is the man, then, that I am hoping to send to you immediately I can make out what is going tohappen to me;	23 Espero, pois, mandar-vo-lo, logo que tiver visto o estado das minhas coisas.
24 but I am confident in the Lord that I shal come myself, too, before long.	24 E confio no Senhor que também eu próprio brevemente irei ter convosco.
25 Nevertheless I thought it essential to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fel ow-worker andcompanion-in-arms since he came as your representative to look after my needs;	25 Entretanto, julguei necessário mandar-vos Epafrodito, meu irmão, coadjutor e companheiro de luta, e vosso enviado para me socorrer nas minhas necessidades,
26 because he was missing you al and was worrying because you had heard that he was il .	26 pois que ele desejava, por certo, ver-vos de novo a todos e tinha pena de que tivésseis notícia da sua doença.
27 Indeed he was seriously il and nearly died; but God took pity on him -- and not only on him but also onme, to spare me one grief on top of another.	27 Com efeito, esteve mortalmente enfermo, mas Deus compadeceu-se dele, e não somente dele, mas também de mim, para que eu não tivesse tristeza sobre tristeza.
28 So I am sending him back as promptly as I can so that you wil have the joy of seeing him again, andthat wil be some comfort to me in my distress.	28 Por isso o enviei mais depressa para que, vendo-o, de novo vos alegreis e eu fique com menor tristeza (sabendo que estais alegres).
29 Welcome him in the Lord, then, with al joy; hold people like him in honour,
30 because it was for Christ's work that he came so near to dying, risking his life to do the duty to mewhich you could not do yourselves.	30 Efectivamente , pelo serviço de Cristo, chegou às portas da morte, arriscando a própria vida para vos suprir no serviço que vós me não podíeis prestar.
