Romans 14

1 Give a welcome to anyone whose faith is not strong, but do not get into arguments about doubtfulpoints.	1 Den Schwachen im Glauben nehmt hin ohne Streit um Meinungsverschiedenheiten!
2 One person may have faith enough to eat any kind of food; another, less strong, wil eat onlyvegetables.	2 Glaubt einer, er dürfe alles essen, der Schwache aber ißt nur Pflanzenkost,
3 Those who feel free to eat freely are not to condemn those who are unwil ing to eat freely; nor mustthe person who does not eat freely pass judgement on the one who does -- because God has welcomed him.	3 so soll der Essende den Nichtessenden nicht verachten, und der Nichtessende den Essenden nicht richten; denn Gott hat ihn angenommen.
4 And who are you, to sit in judgement over somebody else's servant? Whether he deserves to beupheld or to fall is for his own master to decide; and he shal be upheld, for the Lord has power to uphold him.	4 Wer bist du denn, daß du richten willst über den fremden Knecht? Seinem Herrn steht oder fällt er; er wird aber stehen; denn der Herr ist mächtig, ihn aufrecht zu halten.
5 One person thinks that some days are holier than others, and another thinks them al equal. Let eachof them be ful y convinced in his own mind.	5 Unterscheidet nämlich einer die Tage voneinander, der andere aber hält jeden Tag gleich, so sei ein jeder in seiner Meinung voll überzeugt.
6 The one who makes special observance of a particular day observes it in honour of the Lord. So theone who eats freely, eats in honour of the Lord, making his thanksgiving to God; and the one who does not,abstains from eating in honour of the Lord and makes his thanksgiving to God.	6 Wer auf den Tag achtet, der achtet darauf im Hinblick auf den Herrn; wer ißt, der ißt im Hinblick auf den Herrn; er spricht ja Gott das Dankgebet; und wer nicht ißt, der ißt nicht im Hinblick auf den Herrn, und er spricht Gott das Dankgebet.
7 For none of us lives for himself and none of us dies for himself;	7 Denn keiner von uns lebt sich selbst, und keiner stirbt sich selbst;
8 while we are alive, we are living for the Lord, and when we die, we die for the Lord: and so, alive ordead, we belong to the Lord.	8 denn leben wir, so leben wir dem Herrn; sterben wir, so sterben wir dem Herrn; ob wir nun leben, ob wir nun sterben, wir sind des Herrn.
9 It was for this purpose that Christ both died and came to life again: so that he might be Lord of boththe dead and the living.	9 Denn dazu ist Christus gestorben und lebendig geworden, daß er Herr sei sowohl über Tote wie Lebende.
10 Why, then, does one of you make himself judge over his brother, and why does another among youdespise his brother? Al of us wil have to stand in front of the judgement-seat of God:	10 Du aber, was richtest du deinen Bruder? Oder auch du, was verachtest du deinen Bruder? Wir werden ja alle vor den Richterstuhl Gottes zu treten haben.
11 as scripture says: By my own life says the Lord, every knee shal bow before me, every tongue shalgive glory to God.	11 Denn es ist geschrieben: "So wahr ich lebe, spricht der Herr, vor mir wird sich beugen jedes Knie, und jede Zunge wird Gott lobpreisen" (Is 45,23).
12 It is to God, then, that each of us will have to give an account of himself.	12 So wird also ein jeder von uns über sich selbst Rechenschaft geben vor Gott.
13 Let us each stop passing judgement, therefore, on one another and decide instead that none of uswil place obstacles in any brother's way, or anything that can bring him down.	13 Darum laßt uns nicht mehr einander richten. Richtet vielmehr eure Sorge darauf, daß ihr dem Bruder nicht Anstoß oder Ärgernis gebt.
14 I am sure, and quite convinced in the Lord Jesus, that no food is unclean in itself; it is only ifsomeone classifies any kind of food as unclean, then for him it is unclean.	14 Ich weiß und habe im Herrn Jesus die Überzeugung, daß nichts in sich selbst unrein ist; nur für den, der es für unrein hält, ist es unrein.
15 And indeed, if through any kind of food you are causing offence to a brother, then you are no longerbeing guided by love. You are not to let the food that you eat cause the ruin of anyone for whom Christ died.	15 Wird nämlich dein Bruder des Essens wegen betrübt, so wandelst du nicht mehr der Liebe gemäß. Bring mit deiner Speise nicht den ins Verderben, für den Christus gestorben ist!
16 A privilege of yours must not be allowed to give rise to harmful talk;	16 Gebt das Gut, das euer ist, nicht der Lästerung preis!
17 for it is not eating and drinking that make the kingdom of God, but the saving justice, the peace andthe joy brought by the Holy Spirit.	17 Denn das Reich Gottes ist nicht Essen und Trinken, sondern Gerechtigkeit und Friede und Freude in Heiligem Geist.
18 It is the person who serves Christ in these things that wil be approved by God and respected byeveryone.	18 Wer darin Christus dient, ist Gott wohlgefällig und geachtet bei den Menschen.
19 So then, let us be always seeking the ways which lead to peace and the ways in which we cansupport one another.	19 So laß uns trachten nach dem, was dem Frieden dient und der Erbauung untereinander.
20 Do not wreck God's work for the sake of food. Certainly al foods are clean; but al the same, anykind can be evil for someone to whom it is an offence to eat it.	20 Zerstöre nicht um des Essens willen das Werk Gottes! Es ist zwar alles rein, doch schlimm ist es für den Menschen, der durch sein Essen Anstoß gibt.
21 It is best to abstain from eating any meat, or drinking any wine, or from any other activity whichmight cause a brother to fall away, or to be scandalised, or to weaken.	21 Besser ist es, kein Fleisch zu essen und keinen Wein zu trinken noch irgend etwas, woran dein Bruder Anstoß nimmt [oder Ärgernis oder schwach wird].
22 Within yourself, before God, hold on to what you already believe. Blessed is the person whoseprinciples do not condemn his practice.	22 Hast du eine Glaubensüberzeugung, so behalte sie für. dich selbst vor Gott. Selig, wer sich nicht selbst zu verurteilen braucht bei dem, was er für recht hält!
23 But anyone who eats with qualms of conscience is condemned, because this eating does not spring from faith -- and every action which does not spring from faith is sin.	23 Wer aber unter Zweifel ißt, der ist verurteilt, weil es nicht aus gläubiger Überzeugung geschieht. Alles, was nicht aus gläubiger Überzeugung geschieht, ist Sünde.
