2 Chronicles 22

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 The inhabitants of Jerusalem then made his youngest son Ahaziah king in succession to him, sincethe marauders who had attacked the camp with the Arabs had kil ed al the older ones. That was why Ahaziahson of Jehoram, king of Judah became king.	1 Les habitants de Jérusalem firent roi à sa place Ochozias, son plus jeune fils, car la troupequi, avec les Arabes, avait fait incursion dans le camp, avait assassiné les aînés. Ainsi Ochozias, fils de Joram,devint roi de Juda.
2 Ahaziah was forty-two years old when he came to the throne and he reigned for one year inJerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah, descendant of Omri.	2 Il avait 42 ans à son avènement et il régna un an à Jérusalem. Le nom de sa mère étaitAthalie, fille de Omri.
3 He too fol owed the example of the House of Ahab, for his mother being his adviser brought about hiscondemnation.	3 Lui aussi imita la conduite de la maison d'Achab, car sa mère lui donnait de mauvaisconseils.
4 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh as the House of Ahab did, for they were his advisers after hisfather's death, to his undoing.	4 Il fit ce qui déplaît à Yahvé, comme la famille d'Achab, car ce sont ces gens qui, pour saperte, devinrent ses conseillers après la mort de son père.
5 He followed their advice and went with Jehoram son of Ahab, king of Israel, to make war on Hazaelking of Aram at Ramoth-Gilead. But the Aramaeans wounded Jehoram,	5 Il suivit en outre leur politique et alla avec Joram, fils d'Achab, roi d'Israël, pour combattreHazaël, roi d'Aram, à Ramot de Galaad. Mais les Araméens blessèrent Joram;
6 who returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds which he had received at Ramoth, fighting againstHazael king of Aram. Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to Jezreel to visit Jehoram son of Ahabbecause he was ailing.	6 il revint à Yizréel pour faire soigner les blessures reçues à Ramot en combattant Hazaël, roid'Aram. Ochozias, fils de Joram, roi de Juda, descendit à Yizréel, pour visiter Joram, fils d'Achab, parce qu'ilétait souffrant.
7 Through this visit to Jehoram God brought ruin on Ahaziah. On his arrival he went out with Jehoram tomeet Jehu son of Nimshi whom Yahweh had anointed to make an end of the House of Ahab.	7 Dieu fit de cette visite à Joram la perte d'Ochozias. A son arrivée, il sortit avec Joram à larencontre de Jéhu, fils de Nimshi, oint par Yahvé pour en finir avec la maison d'Achab.
8 While Jehu was executing sentence on the House of Ahab and came across the officers of Judah andAhaziah's nephews who were in attendance on Ahaziah, he kil ed them,	8 Alors qu'il s'employait à faire justice de la maison d'Achab, Jéhu rencontra les officiers deJuda et les neveux d'Ochozias, ses serviteurs; il les tua,
9 and then went in search of Ahaziah. The latter was captured while hiding in Samaria, and taken toJehu who put him to death. But they gave him burial because, they said, 'He was the grandson of Jehoshaphatwho sought Yahweh with all his heart.' As a result, there was no member of Ahaziah's family left who was strongenough to rule the kingdom.	9 puis se mit à la recherche d'Ochozias. On se saisit de lui tandis qu'il essayait de se cacherdans Samarie et on l'amena à Jéhu, qui l'exécuta. Mais on l'ensevelit parce qu'on disait: "C'est le fils de Josaphatqui recherchait Yahvé de tout son coeur." Il n'y avait personne dans la maison d'Ochozias qui fût en mesure derégner.
10 When Athaliah mother of Ahaziah learned that her son was dead, she promptly did away with al theroyal stock of the House of Judah.	10 Lorsque la mère d'Ochozias, Athalie, eut appris que son fils était mort, elle entrepritd'exterminer toute la descendance royale de la maison de Juda.
11 But Jehosheba the king's daughter, surreptitiously rescued Joash son of Ahaziah from among thechiefs who were to be murdered, and put him with his nurse in the sleeping quarters; in this way Jehoshebadaughter of King Joram and wife of Jehoiada the priest -- she was the sister of Ahaziah -- hid him from Athaliah,and he was not put to death.	11 Mais Yehoshéba, fille du roi, retira furtivement Joas, fils d'Ochozias, du groupe des fils duroi qu'on massacrait et elle le mit, avec sa nourrice, dans la chambre des lits. Ainsi Yehoshéba, fille du roi Joramet femme du prêtre Yehoyada (et elle était soeur d'Ochozias), put le soustraire à Athalie et éviter qu'elle ne letuât.
12 He stayed hidden with them in the Temple of God for six years while Athaliah governed the country.	12 Il resta six ans avec eux, caché dans le Temple de Dieu, pendant qu'Athalie régnait sur lepays.
