1 The inhabitants of Jerusalem then made his youngest son Ahaziah king in succession to him, sincethe marauders who had attacked the camp with the Arabs had kil ed al the older ones. That was why Ahaziahson of Jehoram, king of Judah became king.	1 Les habitants de Jérusalem établirent Okozias, son plus jeune fils, comme roi à sa place, car la bande qui était entrée avec les Arabes dans le camp, avait assassiné tous les aînés. Voilà comment Okozias, fils de Joram, devint roi.
2 Ahaziah was forty-two years old when he came to the throne and he reigned for one year inJerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah, descendant of Omri.	2 Okozias avait 22 ans lorsqu’il monta sur le trône; sa mère était Athalie, fille d’Omri.
3 He too fol owed the example of the House of Ahab, for his mother being his adviser brought about hiscondemnation.	3 Lui aussi suivit les traces de la maison d’Akab, car sa mère le poussait au mal.
4 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh as the House of Ahab did, for they were his advisers after hisfather's death, to his undoing.	4 Il fit ce qui est mal au regard de Yahvé, comme les gens de la maison d’Akab. Après la mort de son père, en effet, ce sont eux qui le conseillèrent pour son malheur.
5 He followed their advice and went with Jehoram son of Ahab, king of Israel, to make war on Hazaelking of Aram at Ramoth-Gilead. But the Aramaeans wounded Jehoram,	5 Sur leurs conseils il se mit en campagne et partit avec Joram fils d’Akab, roi d’Israël, pour combattre Hazaël roi d’Aram à Ramot-de-Galaad; mais les Araméens blessèrent Joram
6 who returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds which he had received at Ramoth, fighting againstHazael king of Aram. Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to Jezreel to visit Jehoram son of Ahabbecause he was ailing.	6 et il revint à Yizréel pour se faire soigner des blessures qu’il avait reçues à Ramot en combattant Hazaël roi d’Aram. Okozias fils de Joram, roi de Juda, s’en alla rendre visite à Joram fils d’Akab à Yizréel, car il était blessé.
7 Through this visit to Jehoram God brought ruin on Ahaziah. On his arrival he went out with Jehoram tomeet Jehu son of Nimshi whom Yahweh had anointed to make an end of the House of Ahab.	7 Mais Dieu voulut que cette visite d’Okozias à Joram tourne à sa perte. Dès son arrivée, Okozias sortit avec Joram à la rencontre de Jéhu fils de Nimchi, que Yahvé avait consacré roi pour exterminer la maison d’Akab.
8 While Jehu was executing sentence on the House of Ahab and came across the officers of Judah andAhaziah's nephews who were in attendance on Ahaziah, he kil ed them,	8 Comme Jéhu cherchait à faire justice de la maison d’Akab, il rencontra les chefs de Juda et les neveux d’Okozias qui étaient au service du roi, et il les tua.
9 and then went in search of Ahaziah. The latter was captured while hiding in Samaria, and taken toJehu who put him to death. But they gave him burial because, they said, 'He was the grandson of Jehoshaphatwho sought Yahweh with all his heart.' As a result, there was no member of Ahaziah's family left who was strongenough to rule the kingdom.	9 Puis il partit à la recherche d’Okozias qui fut pris alors qu’il se cachait dans Samarie; on le conduisit à Jéhu qui le mit à mort. Mais on l’enterra car on se disait: “C’est le fils de Josaphat qui cherchait Yahvé de tout son cœur.” Or personne dans la maison d’Okozias n’était de taille à régner.
10 When Athaliah mother of Ahaziah learned that her son was dead, she promptly did away with al theroyal stock of the House of Judah.	10 Voyant que son fils était mort, Athalie, mère d’Okozias, décida d’exterminer toute la descendance royale de la maison de Juda.
11 But Jehosheba the king's daughter, surreptitiously rescued Joash son of Ahaziah from among thechiefs who were to be murdered, and put him with his nurse in the sleeping quarters; in this way Jehoshebadaughter of King Joram and wife of Jehoiada the priest -- she was the sister of Ahaziah -- hid him from Athaliah,and he was not put to death.	11 Mais Yochéba, fille du roi, prit Joas fils d’Okozias et réussit à l’enlever du milieu des fils du roi, tandis qu’on les mettait à mort; elle le cacha avec sa nourrice dans la chambre des lits. Yochéba, fille du roi Joram et femme du prêtre Yoyada - elle était la sœur d’Okozias - le déroba ainsi au regard d’Athalie et il échappa à la mort.
12 He stayed hidden with them in the Temple of God for six years while Athaliah governed the country.	12 Il resta caché avec elle dans la Maison de Dieu durant six ans, alors qu’Athalie régnait sur le pays.
