1 When all the kings of the Amorites to the west of the Jordan and all the kings of the Canaanites by the sea heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of the Jordan before the Israelites until they crossed over, they were disheartened and lost courage at their approach.	1 Cuando oyeron todos los reyes de los amorreos que habitaban al otro lado del Jordán, al poniente, y todos los reyes de los cananeos que vivían hacia el mar, que Yahveh había secado las aguas del Jordán ante los israelitas hasta que pasaron, desfalleció su corazón y les faltó el aliento ante la presencia de los israelitas.
2 On this occasion the LORD said to Joshua, "Make flint knives and circumcise the Israelite nation for the second time."	2 En aquel tiempo dijo Yahveh a Josué: «Hazte cuchillos de pedernal y vuelve a circuncidar (por segunda vez) a los israelitas».
3 So Joshua made flint knives and circumcised the Israelites at Gibeath-haaraloth,	3 Josué se hizo cuchillos de pedernal y circuncidó a los israelitas en el Collado de los Prepucios.
4 under these circumstances: Of all the people who came out of Egypt, every man of military age had died in the desert during the journey after they left Egypt.	4 Por este motivo hizo Josué esta circuncisión: toda la población masculina salida de Egipto, los útiles para la guerra, había muerto en el desierto, por el camino, después de la salida de Egipto.
5 Though all the men who came out were circumcised, none of those born in the desert during the journey after the departure from Egypt were circumcised.	5 Estaba circuncidada toda la población que había salido, pero el pueblo nacido en el desierto, de camino, después de la salida de Egipto, no había sido circuncidado.
6 Now the Israelites had wandered forty years in the desert, until all the warriors among the people that came forth from Egypt died off because they had not obeyed the command of the LORD. For the LORD swore that he would not let them see the land flowing with milk and honey which he had promised their fathers he would give us.	6 Porque durante cuarenta años anduvieron los israelitas por el desierto, hasta que pereció toda la nación, los hombres salidos de Egipto útiles para la guerra. No obedecieron a la voz de Yahveh y Yahveh les juró que no les dejaría ver la tierra que había prometido a sus padres que nos daría, tierra que mana leche y miel.
7 It was the children whom he raised up in their stead whom Joshua circumcised, for these were yet with foreskins, not having been circumcised on the journey.	7 En su lugar puso a sus hijos y éstos son los que Josué circuncidó, porque eran incircuncisos, ya que no los habían circuncidado por el camino.
8 When the rite had been performed, the whole nation remained in camp where they were, until they recovered.	8 Cuando acabó de circuncidarse toda la gente, se quedaron donde estaban en el campamento hasta que se curaron.
9 Then the LORD said to Joshua, "Today I have removed the reproach of Egypt from you." Therefore the place is called Gilgal to the present day.	9 Y dijo Yahveh a Josué: «Hoy os he quitado de encima el oprobio de Egipto». Por eso se llamó aquel lugar Guilgal, hasta el día de hoy.
10 While the Israelites were encamped at Gilgal on the plains of Jericho, they celebrated the Passover on the evening of the fourteenth of the month.	10 Los israelitas acamparon en Guilgal y celebraron allí la Pascua el día catorce del mes, a la tarde, en los llanos de Jericó.
11 On the day after the Passover they ate of the produce of the land in the form of unleavened cakes and parched grain. On that same day	11 Al día siguiente de la Pascua comieron ya de los productos del país: panes ázimos y espigas tostadas, ese mismo día.
12 after the Passover on which they ate of the produce of the land, the manna ceased. No longer was there manna for the Israelites, who that year ate of the yield of the land of Canaan.	12 Y el maná cesó desde el día siguiente, en que empezaron a comer los productos del país. Los israelitas no tuvieron en adelante maná, y se alimentaron ya aquel año de los productos de la tierra de Canaán.
13 While Joshua was near Jericho, he raised his eyes and saw one who stood facing him, drawn sword in hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, "Are you one of us or of our enemies?"	13 Sucedió que estando Josué cerca de Jericó, levantó los ojos y vio a un hombre plantado frente a él con una espada desnuda en la mano. Josué se adelantó hacia él y le dijo: «¿Eres de los nuestros o de nuestros enemigos?»
14 He replied, "Neither. I am the captain of the host of the LORD and I have just arrived." Then Joshua fell prostrate to the ground in worship, and said to him, "What has my lord to say to his servant?"	14 Respondió: «No, sino que soy el jefe del ejército de Yahveh. He venido ahora». Cayó Josué rostro en tierra, le adoró y dijo: «¿Qué dice mi Señor a su siervo?»
15 The captain of the host of the LORD replied to Joshua, "Remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy." And Joshua obeyed.	15 El jefe del ejército de Yahveh respondió a Josué: «Quítate las sandalias de tus pies, porque el lugar en que estás es sagrado». Así lo hizo Josué.
