John 10

1 "Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever does not enter a sheepfold through the gate but climbs over elsewhere is a thief and a robber.	1 «En verdad, en verdad os digo: el que no entra por la puerta en el redil de las ovejas, sino que escala por otro lado, ése es un ladrón y un salteador;
2 But whoever enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.	2 pero el que entra por la puerta es pastor de las ovejas.
3 The gatekeeper opens it for him, and the sheep hear his voice, as he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.	3 A éste le abre el portero, y las ovejas escuchan su voz; y a sus ovejas las llama una por una y las saca fuera.
4 When he has driven out all his own, he walks ahead of them, and the sheep follow him, because they recognize his voice.	4 Cuando ha sacado todas las suyas, va delante de ellas, y las ovejas le siguen, porque conocen su voz.
5 But they will not follow a stranger; they will run away from him, because they do not recognize the voice of strangers."	5 Pero no seguirán a un extraño, sino que huirán de él, porque no conocen la voz de los extraños».
6 Although Jesus used this figure of speech, they did not realize what he was trying to tell them.	6 Jesús les dijo esta parábola, pero ellos no comprendieron lo que les hablaba.
7 So Jesus said again, "Amen, amen, I say to you, I am the gate for the sheep.	7 Entonces Jesús les dijo de nuevo: «En verdad, en verdad os digo: yo soy la puerta de las ovejas.
8 All who came [before me] are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them.	8 Todos los que han venido delante de mí son ladrones y salteadores; pero las ovejas no les escucharon.
9 I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture.	9 Yo soy la puerta; si uno entra por mí, estará a salvo; entrará y saldrá y encontrará pasto.
10 A thief comes only to steal and slaughter and destroy; I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.	10 El ladrón no viene más que a robar, matar y destruir. Yo he venido para que tengan vida y la tengan en abundancia.
11 I am the good shepherd. A good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.	11 Yo soy el buen pastor. El buen pastor da su vida por las ovejas.
12 A hired man, who is not a shepherd and whose sheep are not his own, sees a wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away, and the wolf catches and scatters them.	12 Pero el asalariado, que no es pastor, a quien no pertenecen las ovejas, ve venir al lobo, abandona las ovejas y huye, y el lobo hace presa en ellas y las dispersa,
13 This is because he works for pay and has no concern for the sheep.	13 porque es asalariado y no le importan nada las ovejas.
14 I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me,	14 Yo soy el buen pastor; y conozco mis ovejas y las mías me conocen a mí,
15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I will lay down my life for the sheep.	15 como me conoce el Padre y yo conozco a mi Padre y doy mi vida por las ovejas.
16 I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. These also I must lead, and they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd.	16 También tengo otras ovejas, que no son de este redil; también a ésas las tengo que conducir y escucharán mi voz; y habrá un solo rebaño, un solo pastor.
17 This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again.	17 Por eso me ama el Padre, porque doy mi vida, para recobrarla de nuevo.
18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down on my own. I have power to lay it down, and power to take it up again. This command I have received from my Father."	18 Nadie me la quita; yo la doy voluntariamente. Tengo poder para darla y poder para recobrarla de nuevo; esa es la orden que he recibido de mi Padre».
19 Again there was a division among the Jews because of these words.	19 Se produjo otra vez una disensión entre los judíos por estas palabras.
20 Many of them said, "He is possessed and out of his mind; why listen to him?"	20 Muchos de ellos decían: «Tiene un demonio y está loco. ¿Por qué le escucháis?»
21 Others said, "These are not the words of one possessed; surely a demon cannot open the eyes of the blind, can he?"	21 Pero otros decían: «Esas palabras no son de un endemoniado. ¿Puede acaso un demonio abrir los ojos de los ciegos?»
22 The feast of the Dedication was then taking place in Jerusalem. It was winter.	22 Se celebró por entonces en Jerusalén la fiesta de la Dedicación. Era invierno.
23 And Jesus walked about in the temple area on the Portico of Solomon.	23 Jesús se paseaba por el Templo, en el pórtico de Salomón.
24 So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, "How long are you going to keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly."	24 Le rodearon los judíos, y le decían: «¿Hasta cuándo vas tenernos en vilo? Si tú eres el Cristo, dínoslo abiertamente».
25 Jesus answered them, "I told you and you do not believe. The works I do in my Father's name testify to me.	25 Jesús les respondió: «Ya os lo he dicho, pero no me creéis. Las obras que hago en nombre de mi Padre son las que dan testimonio de mí;
26 But you do not believe, because you are not among my sheep.	26 pero vosotros no creéis porque no sois de mis ovejas.
27 My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me.	27 Mis ovejas escuchan mi voz; yo las conozco y ellas mi siguen.
28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. No one can take them out of my hand.	28 Yo les doy vida eterna y no perecerán jamás, y nadie las arrebatará de mi mano.
29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one can take them out of the Father's hand.	29 El Padre, que me las ha dado, es más grande que todos, y nadie puede arrebatar nada de la mano del Padre.
30 The Father and I are one."	30 Yo y el Padre somos uno».
31 The Jews again picked up rocks to stone him.	31 Los judíos trajeron otra vez piedras para apedrearle.
32 Jesus answered them, "I have shown you many good works from my Father. For which of these are you trying to stone me?"	32 Jesús les dijo: «Muchas obras buenas que vienen del Padre os he mostrado. ¿Por cuál de esas obras queréis apedrearme?»
33 The Jews answered him, "We are not stoning you for a good work but for blasphemy. You, a man, are making yourself God."	33 Le respondieron los judíos: «No queremos apedrearte por ninguna obra buena, sino por una blasfemia y porque tú, siendo hombre, te haces a ti mismo Dios».
34 Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your law, 'I said, "You are gods"'?	34 Jesús les respondió: «¿No está escrito en vuestra Ley: Yo he dicho: dioses sois?
35 If it calls them gods to whom the word of God came, and scripture cannot be set aside,	35 Si llama dioses a aquellos a quienes se dirigió la Palabra de Dios - y no puede fallar la Escritura -
36 can you say that the one whom the Father has consecrated and sent into the world blasphemes because I said, 'I am the Son of God'?	36 a aquel a quien el Padre ha santificado y enviado al mundo, ¿cómo le decís que blasfema por haber dicho: “Yo soy Hijo de Dios”?
37 If I do not perform my Father's works, do not believe me;	37 Si no hago las obras de mi Padre, no me creáis;
38 but if I perform them, even if you do not believe me, believe the works, so that you may realize (and understand) that the Father is in me and I am in the Father."	38 pero si las hago, aunque a mí no me creáis, creed por las obras, y así sabréis y conoceréis que el Padre está en mí y yo en el Padre».
39 (Then) they tried again to arrest him; but he escaped from their power.	39 Querían de nuevo prenderle, pero se les escapó de las manos.
40 He went back across the Jordan to the place where John first baptized, and there he remained.	40 Se marchó de nuevo al otro lado del Jordán, al lugar donde Juan había estado antes bautizando, y se quedó allí.
41 Many came to him and said, "John performed no sign, but everything John said about this man was true."	41 Muchos fueron donde él y decían: «Juan no realizó ninguna señal, pero todo lo que dijo Juan de éste, era verdad».
42 And many there began to believe in him.	42 Y muchos allí creyeron en él.
