1 All wisdom comes from the LORD and with him it remains forever.	1 Ogni sapienza viene dal Signore ed è sempre con lui.
2 The sand of the seashore, the drops of rain, the days of eternity: who can number these?	2 La sabbia del mare, le gocce della pioggia e i giorni del mondo chi potrà contarli?
3 Heaven's height, earth's breadth, the depths of the abyss: who can explore these?	3 L'altezza del cielo, l'estensione della terra, la profondità dell'abisso chi potrà esplorarle?
4 Before all things else wisdom was created; and prudent understanding, from eternity.	4 Prima di ogni cosa fu creata la sapienza e la saggia prudenza è da sempre.
5 To whom has wisdom's root been revealed? Who knows her subtleties?	5 A chi fu rivelata la radice della sapienza? Chi conosce i suoi disegni?
6 There is but one, wise and truly awe-inspiring, seated upon his throne:	6 Uno solo è sapiente, molto terribile, seduto sopra il trono.
7 It is the LORD; he created her, has seen her and taken note of her.	7 Il Signore ha creato la sapienza; l'ha vista e l'ha misurata, l'ha diffusa su tutte le sue opere,
8 He has poured her forth upon all his works, upon every living thing according to his bounty; he has lavished her upon his friends.	8 su ogni mortale, secondo la sua generosità, la elargì a quanti lo amano.
9 Fear of the LORD is glory and splendor, gladness and a festive crown.	9 Il timore del Signore è gloria e vanto, gioia e corona di esultanza.
10 Fear of the LORD warms the heart, giving gladness and joy and length of days.	10 Il timore del Signore allieta il cuore e dà contentezza, gioia e lunga vita.
11 He who fears the LORD will have a happy end; even on the day of his death he will be blessed.	11 Per chi teme il Signore andrà bene alla fine, sarà benedetto nel giorno della sua morte.
12 The beginning of wisdom is fear of the LORD, which is formed with the faithful in the womb.	12 Principio della sapienza è temere il Signore; essa fu creata con i fedeli nel seno materno.
13 With devoted men was she created from of old, and with their children her beneficence abides.	13 Tra gli uomini essa ha posto il nido, fondamento resterà fedelmente con i loro discendenti.
14 Fullness of wisdom is fear of the LORD; she inebriates men with her fruits.	14 Pienezza della sapienza è temere il Signore; essa inebria di frutti i propri devoti.
15 Her entire house she fills with choice foods, her granaries with her harvest.	15 Tutta la loro casa riempirà di cose desiderabili, i magazzini dei suoi frutti.
16 Wisdom's garland is fear of the LORD, with blossoms of peace and perfect health.	16 Corona della sapienza è il timore del Signore; fa fiorire la pace e la salute.
17 Knowledge and full understanding she showers down; she heightens the glory of those who possess her.	17 Dio ha visto e misurato la sapienza; ha fatto piovere la scienza e il lume dell'intelligenza; ha esaltato la gloria di quanti la possiedono.
18 The root of wisdom is fear of the LORD; her branches are length of days.	18 Radice della sapienza è temere il Signore; i suoi rami sono lunga vita.
19 One cannot justify unjust anger; anger plunges a man to his downfall.	19 La collera ingiusta non si potrà giustificare, poiché il traboccare della sua passione sarà la sua rovina.
20 A patient man need stand firm but for a time, and then contentment comes back to him.	20 Il paziente sopporterà per qualche tempo; alla fine sgorgherà la sua gioia;
21 For a while he holds back his words, then the lips of many herald his wisdom.	21 per qualche tempo terrà nascoste le parole e le labbra di molti celebreranno la sua intelligenza.
22 Among wisdom's treasures is the paragon of prudence; but fear of the LORD is an abomination to the sinner.	22 Fra i tesori della sapienza sono le massime istruttive, ma per il peccatore la pietà è un abominio.
23 If you desire wisdom, keep the commandments, and the LORD will bestow her upon you;	23 Se desideri la sapienza, osserva i comandamenti; allora il Signore te la concederà.
24 For fear of the LORD is wisdom and culture; loyal humility is his delight.	24 Il timore del Signore è sapienza e istruzione, si compiace della fiducia e della mansuetudine.
25 Be not faithless to the fear of the LORD, nor approach it with duplicity of heart.	25 Non essere disobbediente al timore del Signore e non avvicinarti ad esso con doppiezza di cuore.
26 Play not the hypocrite before men; over your lips keep watch.	26 Non essere finto davanti agli uomini e controlla le tue parole.
27 Exalt not yourself lest you fall and bring upon you dishonor;	27 Non esaltarti per non cadere e per non attirarti il disonore;
28 For then the LORD will reveal your secrets and publicly cast you down,	28 il Signore svelerà i tuoi segreti e ti umilierà davanti all'assemblea,
29 Because you approached the fear of the LORD with your heart full of guile.	29 perché non hai ricercato il timore del Signore e il tuo cuore è pieno di inganno.
