1 His son Jehoshaphat succeeded him as king and strengthened his hold against Israel.	1 Al suo posto divenne re Giosafat, suo figlio, il quale consolidò il potere su Israele.
2 He placed armed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah, and put garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim which his father Asa had taken.	2 Egli stanziò truppe in tutte le città fortificate di Giuda e designò governatori nel territorio di Giuda e nelle città di Efraim, che suo padre Asa aveva occupato.

10 Now the fear of the LORD was upon all the kingdoms of the countries surrounding Judah, so that they did not war against Jehoshaphat.	10 Il terrore del Signore pervase tutti i regni delle regioni che circondavano Giuda, così che non mossero guerra a Giosafat.
11 Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat gifts and a tribute of silver; and the Arabs also brought him a flock of seven thousand seven hundred rams and seven thousand seven hundred he-goats.	11 Tra i Filistei ci furono di quelli che portarono a Giosafat tributi e argento in dono; anche gli Arabi gli portarono bestiame minuto: settemilasettecento montoni e settemilasettecento capri.
12 Jehoshaphat grew steadily greater. He built strongholds and store cities in Judah.	12 Giosafat cresceva sempre più in potenza; egli costruì in Giuda castelli e città di approvvigionamento.
13 He carried out many works in the cities of Judah, and he had soldiers, valiant warriors, in Jerusalem.	13 Aveva a disposizione molta mano d'opera nelle città di Giuda, e in Gerusalemme c'erano i guerrieri, uomini valorosi.
14 This was their mustering according to their ancestral houses. Of Judah, the commanders of thousands: Adnah the commander, and with him three hundred thousand valiant warriors.	14 Questo è il loro censimento secondo il casato: per Giuda i capi di migliaia erano Adna, il capo, e con lui trecentomila uomini valorosi;

17 From Benjamin: Eliada, a valiant warrior, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and buckler.	17 Per Beniamino c'era Eliada, uomo valoroso, e con lui duecentomila uomini armati di arco e di scudo.
18 Next to him, Jozabad, and with him one hundred and eighty thousand equipped for war.	18 Al suo fianco c'era Iozabad e con lui centottantamila uomini pronti per la guerra.
19 These were at the service of the king; in addition were those whom the king had placed in the fortified cities throughout all Judah.	19 Tutti questi erano al servizio del re, oltre a quelli che il re aveva stabilito nelle città fortificate in Giuda.
