1 אבל הרוח אמר בפרוש כי באחרית הימים יהיו אנשים אשר יסורו מן האמונה בפנותם אל הרוחות המטעות ואל תורת השדים	1 The Spirit has explicitly said that during the last times some wil desert the faith and pay attention todeceitful spirits and doctrines that come from devils,
2 דברי שקרים בחנפה ונכוים הם במדעת	2 seduced by the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are branded as though with a red-hot iron:
3 אסרים לקחת אשה ומנעים ממיני מאכל אשר בראם האלהים שיאכלות בתודה המאמינים וידעי האמת	3 they forbid marriage and prohibit foods which God created to be accepted with thanksgiving by all whobelieve and who know the truth.
4 כי כל בריאת אלהים טובה היא ואין דבר משקץ אם יאכל בתודה	4 Everything God has created is good, and no food is to be rejected, provided it is received withthanksgiving:
5 כי יקדש בדבר אלהים ובתפלה	5 the word of God and prayer make it holy.
6 אם תשים כזאת לפני אחיך משרת טוב תהיה לישוע המשיח מגדל בדברי האמונה ובלקח הטוב אשר דבקת אחריו	6 If you put al this to the brothers, you wil be a good servant of Christ Jesus and show that you havereal y digested the teaching of the faith and the good doctrine which you have always fol owed.
7 אך התרחק מהגדות פסולות ובלות והרגל עצמך בחסידות	7 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales. Train yourself for religion.
8 כי הרגל הגוף יועיל מעט אבל החסידות תועיל לכל דבר ויש לה הבטחת חיי העולם הזה והעולם הבא	8 Physical exercise is useful enough, but the usefulness of religion is unlimited, since it holds out promiseboth for life here and now and for the life to come;
9 נאמן הדבר הזה וראוי על כל להתקבל	9 that is a saying that you can rely on and nobody should doubt it.
10 כי לזאת אנחנו גם יגעים גם נעלבים על אשר הוחלנו לאלהים חיים שהוא המושיע לכל האדם וביותר למאמינים	10 I mean that the point of al our toiling and battling is that we have put our trust in the living God and heis the Saviour of the whole human race but particularly of al believers.
11 את זאת תצוה ותלמד	11 This is what you are to instruct and teach.
12 אל יבוז איש את בחורותיך אך היה מופת למאמינים בדבור במעשה באהבה ברוח באמונה ובטהרה	12 Let no one disregard you because you are young, but be an example to al the believers in the way youspeak and behave, and in your love, your faith and your purity.
13 והיה שקוד לקרות ולהוכיח ולהורת עד כי אבוא	13 Until I arrive, devote yourself to reading to the people, encouraging and teaching.
14 ואל תקל בעיניך מתנת החסד אשר בך הנתונה לך בנבואה עם סמיכת ידי הזקנים	14 You have in you a spiritual gift which was given to you when the prophets spoke and the body of elderslaid their hands on you; do not neglect it.
15 לאלה תשית לבך ובהם היה למען תראה הצלחתך לכל	15 Let this be your care and your occupation, and everyone wil be able to see your progress.
16 שית לבך לנפשך ולהוראה והחזק בזה כי בעשותך כן תושיע את נפשך ואת נפש השמעים אליך	16 Be conscientious about what you do and what you teach; persevere in this, and in this way you wilsave both yourself and those who listen to you.
