1 Hierauf hatte ich ein Gesicht: ich sah, wie eine Tür im (oder: am) Himmel offenstand, und die erste Stimme, die ich wie Posaunenschall mit mir hatte reden hören, rief mir zu: »Komm herauf, hierher, so will ich dir zeigen, was hernach (= in Zukunft; 1,19) geschehen muß.« Sogleich geriet ich durch den Geist in Verzückung (vgl. 1,10);	1 After this I looked, and lo, in heaven an open door! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet, said, "Come up hither, and I will show you what must take place after this."
2 und siehe, da stand ein Thron im Himmel, und auf dem Thron saß jemand,	2 At once I was in the Spirit, and lo, a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne!
3 und der dort Thronende sah wie Jaspis- und Karneolstein aus, und den Thron umgab rings ein Regenbogen (= Strahlenkranz), der wie ein Smaragd aussah.	3 And he who sat there appeared like jasper and carnelian, and round the throne was a rainbow that looked like an emerald.
4 Rings um den Thron (standen; oder: sah ich) vierundzwanzig Throne, und auf den Thronen (sah ich) vierundzwanzig Älteste sitzen, die mit weißen Gewändern angetan waren und goldene Kronen (oder: Kränze) auf ihren Häuptern hatten.	4 Round the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders, clad in white garments, with golden crowns upon their heads.
5 Dabei gehen aus dem Thron Blitze, Stimmen und Donnerschläge hervor; und sieben Feuerfackeln brennen vor dem Thron, das sind die sieben Geister Gottes.	5 From the throne issue flashes of lightning, and voices and peals of thunder, and before the throne burn seven torches of fire, which are the seven spirits of God;
6 (Der Platz) vor dem Thron ist wie ein gläsernes Meer, wie Kristall; und inmitten des Thrones, und zwar rings um den Thron, sind vier Lebewesen, die vorn und hinten mit Augen übersät sind.	6 and before the throne there is as it were a sea of glass, like crystal. And round the throne, on each side of the throne, are four living creatures, full of eyes in front and behind:
7 Das erste Lebewesen gleicht einem Löwen, das zweite einem Stier, das dritte hat ein Gesicht wie das eines Menschen, und das vierte Lebewesen gleicht einem fliegenden Adler.	7 the first living creature like a lion, the second living creature like an ox, the third living creature with the face of a man, and the fourth living creature like a flying eagle.
8 Die vier Wesen haben ein jedes sechs Flügel und sind ringsum innen und außen mit Augen übersät; und ohne Aufhören rufen sie bei Tag und bei Nacht: »Heilig, heilig, heilig ist der Herr, der allmächtige Gott, der da war und der da ist und der da kommt!« (Jes 6,2-3)	8 And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all round and within, and day and night they never cease to sing, "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!"
9 Und jedesmal, wenn die vier Lebewesen Preis und Ehre und Danksagung dem darbringen, der auf dem Throne sitzt, dem, der in alle Ewigkeit lebt,	9 And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives for ever and ever,
10 werfen sich die vierundzwanzig Ältesten vor dem auf dem Throne Sitzenden nieder und beten den an, der in alle Ewigkeit lebt, und legen ihre Kronen (oder: Kränze) vor dem Throne nieder mit den Worten:	10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever; they cast their crowns before the throne, singing,
11 »Würdig bist du, unser Herr und Gott, den Preis und die Ehre und die Macht zu empfangen; denn du hast alle Dinge geschaffen, und durch deinen Willen waren sie da und sind sie geschaffen worden.«	11 "Worthy art thou, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for thou didst create all things, and by thy will they existed and were created."
