1 Als aber die Israeliten nach Ehuds Tode aufs neue taten, was dem HERRN mißfiel,	1 And the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, after Ehud died.
2 ließ der HERR sie in die Gewalt des kanaanäischen Königs Jabin fallen, der in Hazor regierte; sein Feldhauptmann war Sisera, der in Haroseth-Goim wohnte.	2 And the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor; the commander of his army was Sisera, who dwelt in Harosheth-ha-goiim.
3 Da riefen die Israeliten den HERRN laut um Hilfe an; denn Jabin besaß neunhundert eiserne (d.h. eisenbeschlagene) Kriegswagen und bedrückte die Israeliten gewaltsam zwanzig Jahre lang.	3 Then the people of Israel cried to the LORD for help; for he had nine hundred chariots of iron, and oppressed the people of Israel cruelly for twenty years.
4 Nun wirkte (oder: waltete) damals Debora, eine Prophetin, die Frau Lappidoths, als Richterin in Israel.	4 Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at that time.
5 Sie hatte ihren Sitz unter der Debora-Palme zwischen Rama und Bethel im Gebirge Ephraim, und die Israeliten suchten sie dort oben auf, um sich von ihr Recht sprechen zu lassen.	5 She used to sit under the palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim; and the people of Israel came up to her for judgment.
6 Diese nun schickte hin und ließ Barak, den Sohn Abinoams, aus Kedes im Stamme Naphthali rufen und sagte zu ihm: »Wisse wohl: der HERR, der Gott Israels, gebietet dir: ›Mache dich auf, ziehe auf (oder: an) den Berg Thabor und nimm zehntausend Mann mit dir aus den beiden Stämmen Naphthali und Sebulon.	6 She sent and summoned Barak the son of Abino-am from Kedesh in Naphtali, and said to him, "The LORD, the God of Israel, commands you, 'Go, gather your men at Mount Tabor, taking ten thousand from the tribe of Naphtali and the tribe of Zebulun.
7 Ich will dann Sisera, den Heerführer Jabins, samt seinen Wagen und seinen Heerscharen zu dir an den Bach Kison führen und ihn in deine Gewalt geben.‹«	7 And I will draw out Sisera, the general of Jabin's army, to meet you by the river Kishon with his chariots and his troops; and I will give him into your hand.'"
8 Barak antwortete ihr: »Wenn du mit mir gehst, so will ich gehen; wenn du aber nicht mit mir gehst, so gehe auch ich nicht.«	8 Barak said to her, "If you will go with me, I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go."
9 Da erwiderte sie: »Gewiß will ich mit dir gehen; doch wird alsdann der Ruhm des Zuges, den du unternimmst, nicht dir zuteil werden, denn der HERR wird den Sisera in die Hand eines Weibes fallen lassen.« So machte sich denn Debora auf den Weg und begab sich mit Barak nach Kedes.	9 And she said, "I will surely go with you; nevertheless, the road on which you are going will not lead to your glory, for the LORD will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman." Then Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.
10 Hierauf entbot Barak die Stämme Sebulon und Naphthali nach Kedes, und zehntausend Mann zogen unter seiner Führung (auf den Berg Thabor) hinauf; auch Debora zog mit ihm hinauf.	10 And Barak summoned Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; and ten thousand men went up at his heels; and Deborah went up with him.
11 Der Keniter Heber aber hatte sich von den übrigen Kenitern, von der Familie Hobabs, des Schwagers Moses (vgl. 1,16), getrennt und schlug seine Zelte bis zur Eiche bei Zaanannim in der Nähe von Kedes auf.	11 Now Heber the Kenite had separated from the Kenites, the descendants of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent as far away as the oak in Za-anannim, which is near Kedesh.
12 Als nun Sisera die Kunde erhielt, daß Barak, der Sohn Abinoams, auf den Berg Thabor hinaufgezogen sei,	12 When Sisera was told that Barak the son of Abino-am had gone up to Mount Tabor,
13 entbot Sisera alle seine Wagen, neunhundert eiserne Streitwagen, und das gesamte Kriegsvolk, das unter seinem Befehl stand, aus Haroseth-Goim an den Bach Kison.	13 Sisera called out all his chariots, nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the men who were with him, from Harosheth-ha-goiim to the river Kishon.
14 Da sagte Debora zu Barak: »Auf! Denn dies ist der Tag, an dem der HERR den Sisera in deine Hand gibt! Der HERR ist (selbst) schon vor dir her ausgezogen!« So stieg denn Barak an der Spitze seiner zehntausend Mann vom Berge Thabor hinab,	14 And Deborah said to Barak, "Up! For this is the day in which the LORD has given Sisera into your hand. Does not the LORD go out before you?" So Barak went down from Mount Tabor with ten thousand men following him.
15 und der HERR setzte Sisera und alle seine Wagen und sein ganzes Heer durch die Ankunft und den wilden Schwertangriff Baraks in solche Verwirrung, daß Sisera vom Wagen stieg und zu Fuß floh.	15 And the LORD routed Sisera and all his chariots and all his army before Barak at the edge of the sword; and Sisera alighted from his chariot and fled away on foot.
16 Barak aber verfolgte die Wagen und das Heer bis Haroseth-Goim, und das ganze Heer Siseras wurde mit dem Schwert niedergemacht: auch nicht ein einziger blieb übrig.	16 And Barak pursued the chariots and the army to Harosheth-ha-goiim, and all the army of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword; not a man was left.
17 Sisera aber war zu Fuß nach dem Zelte Jaels, der Frau des Keniters Heber, geflohen; denn zwischen Jabin, dem Könige von Hazor, und der Familie des Keniters Heber herrschte Friede.	17 But Sisera fled away on foot to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite; for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite.
18 Da trat Jael aus dem Zelte hinaus Sisera entgegen und sagte zu ihm: »Kehre ein, Herr, kehre ein bei mir: fürchte dich nicht!« Da trat er zu ihr ins Zelt, und sie deckte ihn mit einer Schlafdecke (oder: einem Teppich) zu.	18 And Jael came out to meet Sisera, and said to him, "Turn aside, my lord, turn aside to me; have no fear." So he turned aside to her into the tent, and she covered him with a rug.
19 Dann bat er sie: »Gib mir doch ein wenig Wasser zu trinken, denn ich bin durstig!« Da öffnete sie den Milchschlauch, gab ihm zu trinken und deckte ihn wieder zu.	19 And he said to her, "Pray, give me a little water to drink; for I am thirsty." So she opened a skin of milk and gave him a drink and covered him.
20 Darauf bat er sie: »Stelle dich in den Eingang des Zeltes, und wenn jemand kommt und dich fragt, ob jemand hier sei, so antworte: ›Nein, kein Mensch!‹«	20 And he said to her, "Stand at the door of the tent, and if any man comes and asks you, 'Is any one here?' say, No."
21 Nun holte Jael, Hebers Frau, einen Zeltpflock, nahm einen Hammer in die Hand, trat leise an ihn heran, während er vor Erschöpfung eingeschlafen war, und schlug ihm den Pflock durch die Schläfe, so daß er noch in den Erdboden eindrang; so starb er.	21 But Jael the wife of Heber took a tent peg, and took a hammer in her hand, and went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple, till it went down into the ground, as he was lying fast asleep from weariness. So he died.
22 In diesem Augenblick kam Barak, der den Sisera verfolgte; Jael trat hinaus ihm entgegen und rief ihm zu: »Komm, ich will dir den Mann zeigen, den du suchst!« Als er dann bei ihr eintrat, fand er wirklich Sisera als Leiche am Boden liegen, und der Pflock steckte ihm noch in der Schläfe.	22 And behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael went out to meet him, and said to him, "Come, and I will show you the man whom you are seeking." So he went in to her tent; and there lay Sisera dead, with the tent peg in his temple.
23 So demütigte Gott an jenem Tage den Kanaanäerkönig Jabin vor den Israeliten,	23 So on that day God subdued Jabin the king of Canaan before the people of Israel.24 And the hand of the people of Israel bore harder and harder on Jabin the king of Canaan, until they destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.
24 deren Hand dann immer schwerer auf Jabin, dem Kanaanäerkönige, lastete, bis sie ihn völlig vernichtet hatten.
