1 Hierauf fanden sich sämtliche Stämme der Israeliten bei David in Hebron ein und sagten: »Wir sind ja doch von deinem Gebein und Fleisch.	1 Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron, and said, "Behold, we are your bone and flesh.
2 Schon früher, als Saul noch unser König war, bist du es gewesen, der Israel ins Feld und wieder heim geführt hat; dazu hat der HERR dir verheißen: ›Du sollst mein Volk Israel weiden, und du sollst Fürst über Israel sein.‹«	2 In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was you that led out and brought in Israel; and the LORD said to you, 'You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over Israel.'"
3 Als so alle Ältesten der Israeliten zum König nach Hebron gekommen waren, schloß der König David einen Vertrag mit ihnen in Hebron vor dem Angesicht des HERRN; dann salbten sie David zum König über Israel.	3 So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron; and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the LORD, and they anointed David king over Israel.
4 Dreißig Jahre war David alt, als er König wurde, und vierzig Jahre hat er regiert.	4 David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.
5 Zu Hebron hat er sieben Jahre und sechs Monate über Juda regiert, und in Jerusalem hat er dreiunddreißig Jahre über ganz Israel und Juda regiert.	5 At Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months; and at Jerusalem he reigned over all Israel and Judah thirty-three years.
6 Als hierauf der König mit seinem Heere vor Jerusalem gegen die Jebusiter zog, welche die dortige Gegend bewohnten, sagte man zu David: »Hier wirst du nicht eindringen, sondern die Blinden und Lahmen werden dich vertreiben« (= zurückschlagen); damit wollte man sagen: »David wird hier nicht eindringen.«	6 And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who said to David, "You will not come in here, but the blind and the lame will ward you off"--thinking, "David cannot come in here."
7 Aber David eroberte die Burg Zion [das ist die jetzige ›Davidsstadt‹].	7 Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion, that is, the city of David.
8 An jenem Tage sagte David: »Wer die Jebusiter schlägt, indem er den Schacht hinaufsteigt, und ›die Lahmen und die Blinden‹, denen die Seele Davids feind ist …« Daher rührt das Sprichwort: »Ein Blinder und ein Lahmer darf uns nicht ins Haus (= in den Tempel?) kommen.«	8 And David said on that day, "Whoever would smite the Jebusites, let him get up the water shaft to attack the lame and the blind, who are hated by David's soul." Therefore it is said, "The blind and the lame shall not come into the house."
9 David nahm dann seinen Wohnsitz in der Burg und nannte sie ›Stadt Davids‹; auch führte David Bauten ringsum auf, von der Burg Millo an nach innen zu.	9 And David dwelt in the stronghold, and called it the city of David. And David built the city round about from the Millo inward.
10 Seine Macht wuchs nun immer mehr, weil der HERR, der Gott der Heerscharen, mit ihm war.	10 And David became greater and greater, for the LORD, the God of hosts, was with him.
11 Und Hiram, der König von Tyrus, schickte Gesandte an David mit Zedernstämmen, dazu Zimmerleute und Steinmetzen, damit sie David ein Haus (= einen Palast) bauten.	11 And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, also carpenters and masons who built David a house.
12 Daran erkannte David, daß der HERR ihn als König über Israel bestätigt und daß er sein Königtum zu Ansehen gebracht habe um seines Volkes Israel willen.	12 And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.
13 Darauf nahm sich David noch mehr Nebenweiber und Frauen in Jerusalem, nachdem er von Hebron dorthin gekommen war, und es wurden ihm noch mehr Söhne und Töchter geboren.	13 And David took more concubines and wives from Jerusalem, after he came from Hebron; and more sons and daughters were born to David.
14 Dies sind die Namen der Söhne, die ihm in Jerusalem geboren wurden: Sammua, Sobab, Nathan, Salomo,	14 And these are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammu-a, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,
15 Jibhar, Elisua, Nepheg, Japhia,	15 Ibhar, Elishu-a, Nepheg, Japhia,
16 Elisama, Eljada und Eliphelet.	16 Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet.
17 Als aber die Philister vernahmen, daß man David zum König über (ganz) Israel gesalbt hatte, zogen die Philister insgesamt heran, um seiner habhaft zu werden. Aber David erhielt Kunde davon und zog nach der Bergfeste (Adullam) hinab.	17 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over Israel, all the Philistines went up in search of David; but David heard of it and went down to the stronghold.
18 Als nun die Philister herankamen und sich in der Ebene Rephaim ausbreiteten,	18 Now the Philistines had come and spread out in the valley of Rephaim.
19 richtete David die Anfrage an den HERRN: »Soll ich gegen die Philister hinaufziehen? Wirst du sie in meine Hand geben?« Der HERR antwortete ihm: »Ziehe hinauf, ich will die Philister unfehlbar in deine Hand geben.«	19 And David inquired of the LORD, "Shall I go up against the Philistines? Wilt thou give them into my hand?" And the LORD said to David, "Go up; for I will certainly give the Philistines into your hand."
20 Da zog David nach Baal-Perazim; und als er sie dort geschlagen hatte, rief er aus: »Der HERR hat meine Feinde vor mir her durchbrochen, wie das Wasser einen Damm durchbricht!« Darum hat man jenem Ort den Namen Baal-Perazim (d.h. Ort der Durchbrüche) gegeben.	20 And David came to Baal-perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said, "The LORD has broken through my enemies before me, like a bursting flood." Therefore the name of that place is called Baal-perazim.
21 Da (die Philister) ihre Götzenbilder dort zurückgelassen hatten, nahmen David und seine Leute sie als Beute weg.	21 And the Philistines left their idols there, and David and his men carried them away.
22 Die Philister zogen dann nochmals herauf und breiteten sich in der Ebene Rephaim aus.	22 And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread out in the valley of Rephaim.
23 Als David nun den HERRN befragte, antwortete dieser: »Du sollst nicht hinaufziehen ihnen entgegen, sondern umgehe sie, damit du ihnen in den Rücken fällst! Greife sie vom Baka-Gehölz her an!	23 And when David inquired of the LORD, he said, "You shall not go up; go around to their rear, and come upon them opposite the balsam trees.
24 Sobald du dann in den Wipfeln des Baka-Gehölzes das Geräusch von Schritten vernimmst, dann beeile dich! Denn alsdann ist der HERR vor dir her ausgezogen, um das Heer der Philister zu schlagen.«	24 And when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then bestir yourself; for then the LORD has gone out before you to smite the army of the Philistines."
25 Da tat David so, wie der HERR ihm geboten hatte, und richtete ein Blutbad unter den Philistern an von Geba (= Gibeon) bis in die Gegend von Geser hin.	25 And David did as the LORD commanded him, and smote the Philistines from Geba to Gezer.
