Esodo 4

BIBBIA MARTINI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Rispose Mosè, e disse: Ei non crederanno a me, e non ascolteranno la mia voce, ma diranno: iI Signore non ti è apparito.	1 Moses replied as fol ows, 'But suppose they wil not believe me or listen to my words, and say to me,"Yahweh has not appeared to you"?'
2 E quegli disse a lui: Che è quello, che tu hai in mano? Rispose: Un bastone.	2 Yahweh then said, 'What is that in your hand?' 'A staff,' he said.
3 E disse il Signore: Gettalo per terra. Lo gettò, e cangiossi in serpente, tal che Mosè si fuggì.	3 'Throw it on the ground,' said Yahweh. Moses threw it on the ground; the staff turned into a snake andMoses recoiled from it.
4 E disse il Signore: Stendi la tua mano, e prendilo per la coda. Stese la mano, e lo prese, e ritornò un bastone.	4 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Reach out your hand and catch it by the tail.' He reached out his hand,caught it, and in his hand it turned back into a staff.
5 Affinché credano, disse, che è apparito a te il Signore Dio dei padri loro, il Dio di Abramo, il Dio d'Isacco, e il Dio di Giacobbe.	5 'Thus they may believe that Yahweh, the God of their ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaacand the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.'
6 E il Signore disse di nuovo: Mettiti in seno la tua mano. E messa ch'ei l'ebbe in seno, la cavò fuora coperta di lebbra bianca come neve.	6 Next, Yahweh said to him, 'Put your hand inside your tunic.' He put his hand inside his tunic, then drewit out again: and his hand was diseased, white as snow.
7 Rimettiti, disse (Dio), la mano in seno. La rimise, e la cavò fuori di nuovo, ed era come l'altra carne.	7 Yahweh then said, 'Put your hand back inside your tunic.' He put his hand back inside his tunic andwhen he drew it out, there it was restored, just like the rest of his flesh.
8 S'ei non crederanno, disse, a te, e non capiranno il linguaggio del primo prodigio, si arrenderanno a quello del prodigio seguente.	8 'Even so: should they not believe you nor be convinced by the first sign, the second sign wil convincethem;
9 Che se a nissun dei due prodigi crederanno, e non ascolteranno la tua voce, prendi dell'acqua del fiume, e versala per terra, e quanto ne avrai attinta dal fiume, si convertirà in sangue.	9 but should they not be convinced by either of these two signs and refuse to listen to what you say, youare to take some water from the River and pour it on the ground, and the water you have taken from the Riverwil turn to blood on the dry land.'
10 Disse Mosè: Perdona, o Signore, io non era uomo facondo per lo passato: anche dopo che tu hai parlato al tuo servo, io son tardo di lingua, e balbuziente.	10 Moses said to Yahweh, 'Please, my Lord, I have never been eloquent, even since you have spoken toyour servant, for I am slow and hesitant of speech.'
11 Disse a lui il Signore: Chi ha fatto la bocca dell’uomo? e chi ha formato il mutolo, e il sordo, il veggente, e il cieco? non son io quegli?	11 'Who gave a person a mouth?' Yahweh said to him. 'Who makes a person dumb or deaf, gives sight ormakes blind? Is it not I, Yahweh?
12 Va' adunque, e io sarò nella tua bocca, e ti insegnerò quello che dovrai dire.	12 Now go, I shall help you speak and instruct you what to say.'
13 Ma quegli disse: Di grazia, Signore, manda colui, che tu sei per mandare.	13 'Please, my Lord,' Moses replied, 'send anyone you decide to send!'
14 Si crucciò il Signore contro Mosè, e disse: Aronne tuo fratello figliuolo di Levi, so, che è eloquente: ecco che egli viene a incontrarti, e rallegrerassi di cuore in vedendoti.	14 At this, Yahweh's anger kindled against Moses, and he said to him, 'There is your brother Aaron theLevite, is there not? I know that he is a good speaker. Here he comes to meet you. When he sees you, his heartwil be full of joy.
15 Parla a lui, e metti in bocca a lui le mie parole: e io sarò nella tua bocca, e nella bocca di lui, e mostrerò a voi quello che abbiate, a fare.	15 You will speak to him and tel him what message to give. I shal help you speak, and him too, andinstruct you what to do.
16 Egli parlerà in vece tua al popolo, e sarà la tua bocca: tu poi lo governerai in quelle cose, che a Dio appartengono.	16 He will speak to the people in your place; he wil be your mouthpiece, and you wil be as the godinspiring him.
17 Prendi anche in mano questa verga, colla quale opererai prodigi.	17 And take this staff in your hand; with this you will perform the signs.'
18 Mosè se n’andò, e tornò al suo suocero Jetro, e gli disse: Io me ne andrò per tornare a' miei fratelli in Egitto, e vedere, se sono ancor vivi. Jetro gli disse: Va' in pace.	18 Moses went back to his father-in-law Jethro and said to him, 'Give me leave to return to my kinsmen inEgypt and see if they are stil alive.' And Jethro said to Moses, 'Go in peace.'
19 E il Signore disse a Mosè in Madian: Va', e torna in Egitto: perocché son morti tutti quelli che volevano la tua morte.	19 Yahweh said to Moses in Midian, 'Go, return to Egypt, for all those who wanted to kil you are dead.'
20 Prese adunque Mosè la sua moglie, e i suoi figliuoli, e li pose sopra un asino, e se ne tornò in Egitto, portando in mano la verga di Dio.	20 So Moses took his wife and his son and, putting them on a donkey, started back for Egypt; and Mosestook the staff of God in his hand.
21 E il Signore disse a lui mentre se ne tornava in Egitto: bada di fare tutti i prodigi, che io ho posti nelle tue mani, al cospetto di Faraone: io indurerò il cuore di lui, ed ei non lascerà partire il popolo.	21 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Think of the wonders I have given you power to perform, once you are back inEgypt! You are to perform them before Pharaoh, but I myself shal make him obstinate, and he wil not let thepeople go.
22 E tu gli dirai: Queste cose dice il Signore: Israele è il figliuol mio primogenito:	22 You will then say to Pharaoh, "This is what Yahweh says: Israel is my first-born son.
23 Io ti ho detto: Lascia andare il mio figliuolo, affinché mi serva; e non hai voluto lasciarlo partire: ecco che io darò morte al tuo figliuolo primogenito.	23 I told you: Let my son go and worship me; but since you refuse to let him go, well then! I shall put yourfirst-born son to death." '
24 E mentre egli era per viaggio in un albergo, il Signore si presentò a lui, e volea farlo morire.	24 On the journey, when he had halted for the night, Yahweh encountered him and tried to kil him.
25 Prese tosto Sephora una pietra molto affilata, e circoncise il suo figliuolo, e toccò i piedi di lui, e disse: Sposo di sangue sei tu per me.	25 Then Zipporah, taking up a flint, cut off her son's foreskin and with it touched his feet and said, 'Youare my blood-bridegroom!'
26 E quegli lo lasciò stare dopo che ella ebbe detto: Sposo di sangue a motivo della fatta circoncisione.	26 So he let him go. She said, 'Blood-bridegroom' then, with reference to the circumcision.
27 E il Signore disse ad Aronne: Va' nel deserto incontro a Mosè. Andogli incontro fino al monte di Dio, e baciollo.	27 Yahweh said to Aaron, 'Go into the desert to meet Moses.' So he went, and met him at the mountainof God and kissed him.
28 E Mosè raccontò ad Aronne tutte le cose, per le quali il Signore lo avea mandato, e i prodigi, che gli avea ordinato di fare.	28 Moses then told Aaron al that Yahweh had said when sending him and al the signs he had orderedhim to perform.
29 E andarono insieme a raunare tutti i seniori de' figliuoli d’Israele.	29 Moses and Aaron then went and gathered al the elders of the Israelites together,
30 E Aronne ripetè tutte le parole dette dal Signore a Mosè: e questi fece i miracoli in presenza del popolo.	30 and Aaron repeated everything that Yahweh had said to Moses, and in the sight of the peopleperformed the signs.
31 E il popolo credette: e intesero, come il Signore visitava i figliuoli d'Israele, e avea mirata la loro afflizione; e prostratisi lo adorarono.	31 The people were convinced, and they rejoiced that Yahweh had visited the Israelites and seen theirmisery, and they bowed to the ground in worship.
