LXXDOUAI-RHEIMS
παρακαλειτε παρακαλειτε τον λαον μου λεγει ο θεος1 Be comforted, be comforted, my people, saith your God.
ιερεις λαλησατε εις την καρδιαν ιερουσαλημ παρακαλεσατε αυτην οτι επλησθη η ταπεινωσις αυτης λελυται αυτης η αμαρτια οτι εδεξατο εκ χειρος κυριου διπλα τα αμαρτηματα αυτης2 Speak ye to the heart of Jerusalem, and call to her: for her evil is come to an end, her iniquity is forgiven: she hath received of the hand of the Lord double for all her sins.
φωνη βοωντος εν τη ερημω ετοιμασατε την οδον κυριου ευθειας ποιειτε τας τριβους του θεου ημων3 The voice of one crying in the desert: Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the wilderness the paths of our God.
πασα φαραγξ πληρωθησεται και παν ορος και βουνος ταπεινωθησεται και εσται παντα τα σκολια εις ευθειαν και η τραχεια εις πεδια4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low, and the crooked shall become straight, and the rough ways plain.
και οφθησεται η δοξα κυριου και οψεται πασα σαρξ το σωτηριον του θεου οτι κυριος ελαλησεν5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh together shall see, that the mouth of the Lord hath spoken.
φωνη λεγοντος βοησον και ειπα τι βοησω πασα σαρξ χορτος και πασα δοξα ανθρωπου ως ανθος χορτου6 The voice of one, saying: Cry. And I said: What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the glory thereof as the flower of the held.
εξηρανθη ο χορτος και το ανθος εξεπεσεν7 The grass is withered, and the dower is fallen, because the spirit of the Lord hath blown upon it. Indeed the people is grass:
το δε ρημα του θεου ημων μενει εις τον αιωνα8 The grass is withered, and the flower is fallen: but the word of our Lord endureth for ever.
επ' ορος υψηλον αναβηθι ο ευαγγελιζομενος σιων υψωσον τη ισχυι την φωνην σου ο ευαγγελιζομενος ιερουσαλημ υψωσατε μη φοβεισθε ειπον ταις πολεσιν ιουδα ιδου ο θεος υμων9 Get thee up upon a high mountain, thou that bringest good tidings to Sion: lift up thy voice with strength, thou that bringest good tidings to Jerusalem: lift it up, fear not. Say to the cities of Juda: Behold your God:
ιδου κυριος μετα ισχυος ερχεται και ο βραχιων μετα κυριειας ιδου ο μισθος αυτου μετ' αυτου και το εργον εναντιον αυτου10 Behold the Lord God shall come with strength, and his arm shall rule: Behold his reward is with him and his work is before him.
ως ποιμην ποιμανει το ποιμνιον αυτου και τω βραχιονι αυτου συναξει αρνας και εν γαστρι εχουσας παρακαλεσει11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather together the lambs with his arm, and shall take them up in his bosom, and he himself shall carry them that are with young.
τις εμετρησεν τη χειρι το υδωρ και τον ουρανον σπιθαμη και πασαν την γην δρακι τις εστησεν τα ορη σταθμω και τας ναπας ζυγω12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and weighed the heavens with his palm? who hath poised with three fingers the bulk of the earth, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
τις εγνω νουν κυριου και τις αυτου συμβουλος εγενετο ος συμβιβα αυτον13 Who hath forwarded the spirit of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor, and hath taught him?
η προς τινα συνεβουλευσατο και συνεβιβασεν αυτον η τις εδειξεν αυτω κρισιν η οδον συνεσεως τις εδειξεν αυτω14 With whom hath he consulted, and who hath instructed him, and taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and shewed him the way of understanding?
ει παντα τα εθνη ως σταγων απο καδου και ως ροπη ζυγου ελογισθησαν και ως σιελος λογισθησονται15 Behold the Gentiles are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the smallest grain of a balance: behold the islands are as a little dust.
ο δε λιβανος ουχ ικανος εις καυσιν και παντα τα τετραποδα ουχ ικανα εις ολοκαρπωσιν16 And Libanus shall not be enough to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.
και παντα τα εθνη ως ουδεν εισι και εις ουθεν ελογισθησαν17 All nations are before him as if they had no being at all, and are counted to him as nothing, and vanity.
τινι ωμοιωσατε κυριον και τινι ομοιωματι ωμοιωσατε αυτον18 To whom then have you likened God? or what image will you make for him?
μη εικονα εποιησεν τεκτων η χρυσοχοος χωνευσας χρυσιον περιεχρυσωσεν αυτον ομοιωμα κατεσκευασεν αυτον19 Hath the workman cast a graven statue? or hath the goldsmith formed it with gold, or the silversmith with plates of silver?
ξυλον γαρ ασηπτον εκλεγεται τεκτων και σοφως ζητει πως στησει αυτου εικονα και ινα μη σαλευηται20 He hath chosen strong wood, and that will not rot: the skilful workman seeketh how he may set up an idol that may not be moved.
ου γνωσεσθε ουκ ακουσεσθε ουκ ανηγγελη εξ αρχης υμιν ουκ εγνωτε τα θεμελια της γης21 Do you not know? hath it not been heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have you not understood the foundations of the earth ?
ο κατεχων τον γυρον της γης και οι ενοικουντες εν αυτη ως ακριδες ο στησας ως καμαραν τον ουρανον και διατεινας ως σκηνην κατοικειν22 It is he that sitteth upon the globe of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as locusts: he that stretcheth out the heavens as nothing, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.
ο διδους αρχοντας εις ουδεν αρχειν την δε γην ως ουδεν εποιησεν23 He that bringeth the searchers of secrets to nothing, that hath made the judges of the earth as vanity.
ου γαρ μη σπειρωσιν ουδε μη φυτευσωσιν ουδε μη ριζωθη εις την γην η ριζα αυτων επνευσεν επ' αυτους και εξηρανθησαν και καταιγις ως φρυγανα αναλημψεται αυτους24 And surely their stock was neither planted, nor sown, nor rooted in the earth: suddenly he hath blown upon them, and they are withered, and a whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.
νυν ουν τινι με ωμοιωσατε και υψωθησομαι ειπεν ο αγιος25 And to whom have ye likened me, or made me equal, saith the Holy One?
αναβλεψατε εις υψος τους οφθαλμους υμων και ιδετε τις κατεδειξεν παντα ταυτα ο εκφερων κατα αριθμον τον κοσμον αυτου παντας επ' ονοματι καλεσει απο πολλης δοξης και εν κρατει ισχυος ουδεν σε ελαθεν26 Lift up your eyes on high, and see who hath created these things: who bringeth out their host by number, and calleth them all by their names: by the greatness of his might, and strength, and power, not one of them was missing.
μη γαρ ειπης ιακωβ και τι ελαλησας ισραηλ απεκρυβη η οδος μου απο του θεου και ο θεος μου την κρισιν αφειλεν και απεστη27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel: My way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God?
και νυν ουκ εγνως ει μη ηκουσας θεος αιωνιος ο θεος ο κατασκευασας τα ακρα της γης ου πεινασει ουδε κοπιασει ουδε εστιν εξευρεσις της φρονησεως αυτου28 Knowest thou not, or hast thou not heard? the Lord is the everlasting God, who hath created the ends of the earth: he shall not faint, nor labour, neither is there any searching out of his wisdom.
διδους τοις πεινωσιν ισχυν και τοις μη οδυνωμενοις λυπην29 It is he that giveth strength to the weary, and increaseth force and might to them that are not.
πεινασουσιν γαρ νεωτεροι και κοπιασουσιν νεανισκοι και εκλεκτοι ανισχυες εσονται30 Youths shall faint, and labour, and young men shall fall by infirmity.
οι δε υπομενοντες τον θεον αλλαξουσιν ισχυν πτεροφυησουσιν ως αετοι δραμουνται και ου κοπιασουσιν βαδιουνται και ου πεινασουσιν31 But they that hope in the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall take wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
