εις το τελος ψαλμος τω δαυιδ εκστασεως1 Unto the end. A Psalm of David according to an ecstasy.
επι σοι κυριε ηλπισα μη καταισχυνθειην εις τον αιωνα εν τη δικαιοσυνη σου ρυσαι με και εξελου με2 In you, Lord, I have hoped; let me never be confounded. In your justice, deliver me.
κλινον προς με το ους σου ταχυνον του εξελεσθαι με γενου μοι εις θεον υπερασπιστην και εις οικον καταφυγης του σωσαι με3 Incline your ear to me. Hasten to rescue me. Be for me a protector God and a house of refuge, so as to accomplish my salvation.
οτι κραταιωμα μου και καταφυγη μου ει συ και ενεκεν του ονοματος σου οδηγησεις με και διαθρεψεις με4 For you are my strength and my refuge; and for the sake of your name, you will lead me and nourish me.
εξαξεις με εκ παγιδος ταυτης ης εκρυψαν μοι οτι συ ει ο υπερασπιστης μου5 You will lead me out of this snare, which they have hidden for me. For you are my protector.
εις χειρας σου παραθησομαι το πνευμα μου ελυτρωσω με κυριε ο θεος της αληθειας6 Into your hands, I commend my spirit. You have redeemed me, O Lord, God of truth.
εμισησας τους διαφυλασσοντας ματαιοτητας δια κενης εγω δε επι τω κυριω ηλπισα7 You have hated those who practice emptiness to no purpose. But I have hoped in the Lord.
αγαλλιασομαι και ευφρανθησομαι επι τω ελεει σου οτι επειδες την ταπεινωσιν μου εσωσας εκ των αναγκων την ψυχην μου8 I will exult and rejoice in your mercy. For you have looked upon my humility; you have saved my soul from needfulness.
και ου συνεκλεισας με εις χειρας εχθρου εστησας εν ευρυχωρω τους ποδας μου9 And you have not enclosed me in the hands of the enemy. You have set my feet in a spacious place.
ελεησον με κυριε οτι θλιβομαι εταραχθη εν θυμω ο οφθαλμος μου η ψυχη μου και η γαστηρ μου10 Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am troubled. My eye has been disturbed by wrath, along with my soul and my gut.
οτι εξελιπεν εν οδυνη η ζωη μου και τα ετη μου εν στεναγμοις ησθενησεν εν πτωχεια η ισχυς μου και τα οστα μου εταραχθησαν11 For my life has fallen into sorrow, and my years into sighing. My virtue has been weakened in poverty, and my bones have been disturbed.
παρα παντας τους εχθρους μου εγενηθην ονειδος και τοις γειτοσιν μου σφοδρα και φοβος τοις γνωστοις μου οι θεωρουντες με εξω εφυγον απ' εμου12 I have become a disgrace among all my enemies, and even more so to my neighbors, and a dread to my acquaintances. Those who catch sight of me, flee away from me.
επελησθην ωσει νεκρος απο καρδιας εγενηθην ωσει σκευος απολωλος13 I have become forgotten, like one dead to the heart. I have become like a damaged utensil.
οτι ηκουσα ψογον πολλων παροικουντων κυκλοθεν εν τω επισυναχθηναι αυτους αμα επ' εμε του λαβειν την ψυχην μου εβουλευσαντο14 For I have heard the harsh criticism of many who linger in the area. While assembled together against me in that place, they deliberated on how to take away my life.
εγω δε επι σε ηλπισα κυριε ειπα συ ει ο θεος μου15 But I have hoped in you, O Lord. I said, “You are my God.”
εν ταις χερσιν σου οι καιροι μου ρυσαι με εκ χειρος εχθρων μου και εκ των καταδιωκοντων με16 My fate is in your hands. Rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from those who are persecuting me.
επιφανον το προσωπον σου επι τον δουλον σου σωσον με εν τω ελεει σου17 Shine your face upon your servant. Save me in your mercy.
κυριε μη καταισχυνθειην οτι επεκαλεσαμην σε αισχυνθειησαν οι ασεβεις και καταχθειησαν εις αδου18 Do not let me be confounded, Lord, for I have called upon you. Let the impious be ashamed and be drawn down into Hell.
αλαλα γενηθητω τα χειλη τα δολια τα λαλουντα κατα του δικαιου ανομιαν εν υπερηφανια και εξουδενωσει19 May deceitful lips be silenced: those that speak iniquity against the just, in arrogance and in abusiveness.
ως πολυ το πληθος της χρηστοτητος σου κυριε ης εκρυψας τοις φοβουμενοις σε εξειργασω τοις ελπιζουσιν επι σε εναντιον των υιων των ανθρωπων20 How great is the multitude of your sweetness, O Lord, which you keep hidden for those who fear you, which you have perfected for those who hope in you, in the sight of the sons of men.
κατακρυψεις αυτους εν αποκρυφω του προσωπου σου απο ταραχης ανθρωπων σκεπασεις αυτους εν σκηνη απο αντιλογιας γλωσσων21 You hide them in the concealment of your face, from the disturbance of men. You protect them in your tabernacle, from the contradiction of tongues.
ευλογητος κυριος οτι εθαυμαστωσεν το ελεος αυτου εν πολει περιοχης22 Blessed is the Lord. For he has shown his wonderful mercy to me, in a fortified city.
εγω δε ειπα εν τη εκστασει μου απερριμμαι αρα απο προσωπου των οφθαλμων σου δια τουτο εισηκουσας της φωνης της δεησεως μου εν τω κεκραγεναι με προς σε23 But I said in the excess of my mind: “I have been cast away from the glance of your eyes.” And so, you heeded the voice of my prayer, while I was still crying out to you.
αγαπησατε τον κυριον παντες οι οσιοι αυτου οτι αληθειας εκζητει κυριος και ανταποδιδωσιν τοις περισσως ποιουσιν υπερηφανιαν24 Love the Lord, all you his saints. For the Lord will require truth, and he will abundantly repay those who act with arrogance.
ανδριζεσθε και κραταιουσθω η καρδια υμων παντες οι ελπιζοντες επι κυριον25 Act manfully, and let your heart be strengthened, all you who hope in the Lord.
