1 The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.	1 Io, il Presbìtero, al carissimo Gaio, che amo nella verità.
2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.	2 Carissimo, mi auguro che in tutto tu stia bene e sia in buona salute, come sta bene la tua anima.
3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.	3 Mi sono molto rallegrato, infatti, quando sono giunti alcuni fratelli e hanno testimoniato che tu, dal modo in cui cammini nella verità, sei veritiero.
4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.	4 Non ho gioia più grande di questa: sapere che i miei figli camminano nella verità.
5 Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers;	5 Carissimo, tu ti comporti fedelmente in tutto ciò che fai in favore dei fratelli, benché stranieri.
6 Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well:	6 Essi hanno dato testimonianza della tua carità davanti alla Chiesa; tu farai bene a provvedere loro il necessario per il viaggio in modo degno di Dio.
7 Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.	7 Per il suo nome, infatti, essi sono partiti senza accettare nulla dai pagani.
8 We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.	8 Noi perciò dobbiamo accogliere tali persone per diventare collaboratori della verità.
9 I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.	9 Ho scritto qualche parola alla Chiesa, ma Diòtrefe, che ambisce il primo posto tra loro, non ci vuole accogliere.
10 Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.	10 Per questo, se verrò, gli rinfaccerò le cose che va facendo, sparlando di noi con discorsi maligni. Non contento di questo, non riceve i fratelli e impedisce di farlo a quelli che lo vorrebbero e li scaccia dalla Chiesa.
11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.	11 Carissimo, non imitare il male, ma il bene. Chi fa il bene è da Dio; chi fa il male non ha veduto Dio.
12 Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.	12 A Demetrio tutti danno testimonianza, anche la stessa verità; anche noi gli diamo testimonianza e tu sai che la nostra testimonianza è veritiera.
13 I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee:	13 Molte cose avrei da scriverti, ma non voglio farlo con inchiostro e penna.
14 But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face.	14 Spero però di vederti presto e parleremo a viva voce.
15 Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee. Greet the friends by name.	15 La pace sia con te. Gli amici ti salutano. Saluta gli amici a uno a uno.
