1 And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.	1 Ikóniumban pedig az történt, hogy mindnyájan bementek a zsidók zsinagógájába és beszéltek, úgyhogy a zsidók és görögök nagy sokasága hívő lett.
2 But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.	2 Akik azonban a zsidók közül nem hittek, felizgatták és felbőszítették a pogányok lelkét a testvérek ellen.
3 Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.	3 Mégis ott maradtak azért jó ideig, és bizakodva fáradoztak az Úrban, aki tanúságot tett kegyelmének igéje mellett; megengedte ugyanis, hogy jelek és csodák történjenek a kezük által.
4 But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.	4 A város lakossága azonban megoszlott. Egyesek ugyanis a zsidókkal, mások viszont az apostolokkal tartottak.
5 And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews with their rulers, to use them despitefully, and to stone them,	5 Mikor pedig a pogányok és a zsidók a főembereikkel együtt támadásra készültek, hogy bántalmazásokkal illessék, sőt megkövezzék őket,
6 They were ware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lieth round about:	6 és ők értesültek erről, elmenekültek Likaónia városaiba, Lisztrába, Derbébe, és körös-körül az egész tartományba.
7 And there they preached the gospel.	7 Mindenütt hirdették az evangéliumot.
8 And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked:	8 Volt Lisztrában egy béna lábú ember, aki születésétől fogva sánta volt, és sohasem tudott járni.
9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,	9 Hallgatta Pált, amikor beszélt. Pál rátekintett, s mivel látta, hogy hisz a gyógyulásában,
10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.	10 fennhangon azt mondta: »Állj fel egyenesen, a lábaidra!« Az felugrott és járkált.
11 And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.	11 Amikor a néptömeg látta, hogy mit tett Pál, likaóniai nyelven felkiáltott: »Az istenek emberi alakot öltöttek, s leszálltak hozzánk!«
12 And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker.	12 Barnabást elnevezték Jupiternek, Pált meg Merkurnak, mert ő vitte a szót.
13 Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.	13 A város előtt lévő Jupiter-templom papja bikákat és koszorúkat hozott a kapuk elé, és a tömeggel együtt áldozatot akart bemutatni.
14 Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,	14 Amikor az apostolok, Barnabás és Pál meghallották ezt, megszaggatták ruhájukat, kiáltozva kisiettek a tömeg közé,
15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:	15 és ezt mondták: »Férfiak, miért teszitek ezt? Mi is hozzátok hasonló halandó emberek vagyunk, s éppen azt hirdetjük nektek, hogy ezektől a hiábavaló dolgoktól térjetek meg az élő Istenhez, aki az eget és a földet teremtette, a tengert és mindazt, ami bennük van .
16 Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.	16 A letűnt időkben megengedte minden pogánynak, hogy a saját útján járjon,
17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.	17 de önmagát sem hagyta tanúságtétel nélkül, mert jót cselekedett az égből: esőt, termékeny időket adott, betöltötte szívünket eledellel és örömmel.«
18 And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.	18 Bár ezeket mondták, alig tudták lecsillapítani a tömeget, hogy ne mutasson be nekik áldozatot.
19 And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.	19 Antióchiából és Ikóniumból azonban utánuk jött néhány zsidó. Felbujtották a tömeget, és megkövezték Pált. Azután kivonszolták a városon kívülre, abban a hitben, hogy meghalt.
20 Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.	20 De amikor a tanítványok körülvették, felkelt, és bement a városba. Másnap pedig Barnabással útra kelt Derbébe.
21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,	21 Miután ennek a városnak is hirdették az evangéliumot és sokakat tanítottak, visszafordultak Lisztrába, Ikóniumba és Antióchiába.
22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.	22 Útközben megerősítették a tanítványok lelkét, és intették őket, hogy maradjanak meg a hitben. Elmondták, hogy sok viszontagságon át kell bemennünk az Isten országába.
23 And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.	23 S miután az egyes egyházakban böjtölve és imádkozva presbitereket rendeltek számukra, az Úrnak ajánlották őket, akiben hittek.
24 And after they had passed throughout Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia.	24 Azután átmentek Pizídián, és Pamfíliába jutottak.
25 And when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down into Attalia:	25 Miután Pergében is hirdették az Úr igéjét, lementek Attáliába,
26 And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.	26 onnan pedig elhajóztak Antióchiába, ahonnan Isten kegyelmébe ajánlva elindították őket a most elvégzett munkára.
27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.	27 Amikor megérkeztek és egybegyűjtötték az egyházat, elbeszélték, milyen nagy dolgokat művelt általuk az Isten, és hogy a hit ajtaját megnyitotta a pogányoknak.
28 And there they abode long time with the disciples.	28 Ezután jó ideig ott maradtak a tanítványokkal.
