1 In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar a vision appeared unto me, even unto me Daniel, after that which appeared unto me at the first.	1 Nel terzo anno della sovranità del re Baltazar una visione apparve a me Daniele dopo quella che mi era apparsa prima.
2 And I saw in a vision; and it came to pass, when I saw, that I was at Shushan in the palace, which is in the province of Elam; and I saw in a vision, and I was by the river of Ulai.	2 Nella visione osservavo e, mentre guardavo, mi trovavo a Susa, la fortezza che è nella provincia dell’Elam, e vedevo nella visione, stavo presso la porta dell’Ulai.
3 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.	3 Levai gli occhi e vidi; ed ecco un ariete stava di fronte alla porta: aveva due corna e le due corna erano alte; uno era più alto dell’altro e il più alto cresceva in seguito.
4 I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great.	4 Vidi l’ariete cozzare a ovest, a nord e a sud e nessun animale gli teneva testa e non c’era chi sapesse sottrarsi al suo potere. Agì a suo piacere e divenne grande!
5 And as I was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.	5 lo seguivo con attenzione; ed ecco un capro venire dall’occidente sull’estensione di tutta la terra, senza sfiorare il suolo. Il capro aveva tra gli occhi un corno notevole.
6 And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had there seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the fury of his power.	6 Si diresse verso ariete dalle due corna che avevo osservato mentre stava innanzi alla porta e si lanciò contro di lui con la furia della sua forza:
7 And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with choler against him, and smote the ram, and brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.	7 lo vidi lanciarsi contro l’ariete, accanirsi, colpire l’ariete e sfracellarne le due corna, né l’ariete ebbe la forza di tener fronte. Lo sbatté a terra e lo calpestò, né ci fu chi divincolasse l’ariete dalla sua morsa.
8 Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.	8 Il capro divenne molto grande, ma nel suo sforzo il grande corno si spezzò: crebbero al suo posto quattro corna nelle quattro direzioni dei venti del cielo.
9 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.	9 Da uno di esse spuntò un piccolo corno e si ingrandì eccessivamente verso sud e verso est e verso il paese della magnificenza.
10 And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.	10 Si alzò fino all’esercito del cielo, fece crollare parte dell’esercito e delle stelle e le calpestò;
11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.	11 si elevò fino al capo dell’esercito, gli tolse il sacrificio continuo e fu sovvertita la dimora del suo santuario.
12 And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.	12 L’esercito stabilì il peccato al posto del sacrificio continuo e fu gettata a terra la verità. Fece questo ed ebbe successo.
13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?	13 Udii un santo parlare, e un altro santo disse a non so chi: «Fino a quando la visione? Tl sacrificio continuo abolito, il peccato devastatore stabilito, il santuario e l’esercito oggetto di conculcazione?»
14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.	14 E gli rispose: «Fino a duemilatrecento sere-mattine; poi il santuario sarà rivendicato nei suoi diritti».
15 And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.	15 Mentre io Daniele osservavo la visione e cercavo di comprendere, ecco in piedi accanto a me uno dall’aspetto umano.
16 And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.	16 Udii una voce umana tra le rive dell’Ulai che gridò: «Gabriele, fa’ capire a costui l’apparizione».
17 So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision.	17 Quegli venne dove mi trovavo: al suo arrivo fui colto di sorpresa e caddi sulla mia faccia. Egli mi disse: «Comprendi, o uomo, che la visione riguarda il tempo della fine».
18 Now as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep on my face toward the ground: but he touched me, and set me upright.	18 Durante il suo discorso con me, rimasi stordito sulla mia faccia, a terra; egli mi toccò e mi fece alzare in piedi.
19 And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be.	19 Disse: «Ecco, ti spiego ciò che avverrà alla fine della collera poiché ciò riguarda il, tempo destinato per la fine.
20 The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia.	20 L’ariete che hai visto con due corna: i re della Media e della Persia.
21 And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.	21 Il capro: il re della Grecia e il grande corno tra i suoi due occhi è il primo re.
22 Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power.	22 E l’essersi rotto e lo spuntare di quattro corna al suo posto significano quattro regni che sorgeranno dal suo popolo ma non con la sua potenza.
23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.	23 Alla fine del loro regno, raggiunto il colmo dell’empietà, sorgerà un re dalla dura faccia, esperto negli intrighi;
24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.	24 la sua potenza sarà grande, sebbene non a causa della sua forza, causerà rovina e avrà successo in ciò che intraprenderà, e distruggerà i forti, il popolo dei Santi.
25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.	25 Le sue arti si volgeranno contro i Santi e, inganno alla mano, riuscirà, si gonfierà nel cuore, con temerarietà rovinerà molti, si metterà contro il capo dei capi e sarà spezzato senza l’intervento di una mano d’uomo.
26 And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days.	26 L’apparizione della sera e del mattino che è stata esposta è verità. Ma tu tieni segreta la visione perché si riferisce a giorni lontani».
27 And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.	27 lo Daniele rimasi sfinito e ammalato per molti giorni; mi alzai in seguito, sbrigai gli affari del re e rimasi stupito per l’apparizione che non comprendevo.
