Nehemiah 9

1 Now in the twenty and fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, and with sackclothes, and earth upon them.	1 No dia vinte e quatro do mesmo mês, juntaram-se os filhos de Israel para um jejum, vestidos de saco, e com pó sobre (a cabeça).
2 And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.	2 Os da linhagem dos filhos de Israel foram separados de todos os filhos estrangeiros e, conservando-se de pé, confessaram os seus pecados e as iniquidades de seus pais.
3 And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of the LORD their God one fourth part of the day; and another fourth part they confessed, and worshipped the LORD their God.	3 Estando de pé, cada um em seu lugar, leu-se o livro da lei do Senhor seu Deus durante um quarto do dia, e durante outro quarto confessaram os seus pecados e adoraram o Senhor seu Deus.
4 Then stood up upon the stairs, of the Levites, Jeshua, and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Chenani, and cried with a loud voice unto the LORD their God.	4 Subiram à tribuna dos Levitas, Josué, Bani, Cedmiel, Sabanias, Boni, Serebías, Bani e Canani, e em altas vozes invocaram o Senhor seu Deus.
5 Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said, Stand up and bless the LORD your God for ever and ever: and blessed be thy glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.	5 Os Levitas Josué, Cedmiel, Boni, Hasebnias, Serebias, Odaias, Sebenias e Fataias disseram : Levantai-vos, bendizei o Senhor vosso Deus de eternidade em eternidade. Seja bendito, Senhor, o sublime nome da tua glória, com toda a sorte de bênção e de louvor.
6 Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.	6 Foste tu, Senhor, tu só que fizeste o céu, o céu dos céus e toda a sua milícia, a terra e tudo o que há nela, os mares e tudo o que neles se contém; tu dás vida a todas estas coisas, e a milícia do céu te adora.
7 Thou art the LORD the God, who didst choose Abram, and broughtest him forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gavest him the name of Abraham;	7 Foste tu, ó Senhor Deus, que escolheste Abrão, que o tiraste de Ur dos Caldeus e lhe deste o nome de Abraão.
8 And foundest his heart faithful before thee, and madest a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Jebusites, and the Girgashites, to give it, I say, to his seed, and hast performed thy words; for thou art righteous:	8 Achaste o seu coração fiel aos teus olhos e fizeste aliança com ele de que lhe darias a terra dos Cananeus, dos Heteus, dos Amorreus, dos Fereseus, dos Jesubeus, dos Gergeseus, para a entregares à sua descendência, e cumpriste as tuas palavras, porque és justo.
9 And didst see the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heardest their cry by the Red sea;	9 Viste a aflição de nossos pais no Egipto, ouviste os seus clamores perto do mar vermelho,
10 And shewedst signs and wonders upon Pharoah, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land: for thou knewest that they dealt proudly against them. So didst thou get thee a name, as it is this day.	10 operaste maravilhas e prodígios sobre Faraó, sobre todos os seus servos e sobre todo o povo daquele país, porque sabias que eles os tinham tratado com soberba, e alcançaste o renome que conservas ainda hoje.
11 And thou didst divide the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on the dry land; and their persecutors thou threwest into the deeps, as a stone into the mighty waters.	11 Dividiste o mar diante deles, e eles passaram a pé enxuto pelo meio, mas precipitaste os seus perseguidores no fundo, como uma pedra que caí em águas profundas.
12 Moreover thou leddest them in the day by a cloudy pillar; and in the night by a pillar of fire, to give them light in the way wherein they should go.	12 Foste o seu condutor de dia numa coluna de nuvem, e de noite numa coluna de fogo, para conhecerem o caminho por onde deviam seguir.
13 Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments:	13 Deceste ao monte Sinai, do céu falaste com eles, e lhes deste ordenações justas, leis de verdade, preceitos e mandamentos excelentes.
14 And madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses thy servant:	14 Ensinaste-os a santificar o teu sábado, prescreveste-lhes, por meio de Moisés, teu servo, mandamentos, preceitos e lei.
15 And gavest them bread from heaven for their hunger, and broughtest forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and promisedst them that they should go in to possess the land which thou hadst sworn to give them.	15 Tu lhes deste também o pão do céu, quando tiveram fome, e lhes fizeste brotar água dum rochedo, quando tiveram sede, e lhes disseste que entrassem e possuíssem a terra, sobre a qual levantaste a tua mão, jurando que lha darias.
16 But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and hearkened not to thy commandments,	16 Porém eles e nossos pais procederam com soberba, endureceram as suas cervizes e não ouviram os teus mandamentos.
17 And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not.	17 Não quiseram ouvir, não se lembraram das tuas maravilhas, que tinhas operado em seu favor. Endureceram as suas cervizes e, levados pela sua rebeldia, escolheram um chefe, a fim de voltarem para a sua escravidão, mas tu, ó Deus propício, clemente e misericordioso, sempre paciente, e de muita compaixão, tu não os desamparaste,
18 Yea, when they had made them a molten calf, and said, This is thy God that brought thee up out of Egypt, and had wrought great provocations;	18 ainda mesmo quando eles fizeram para si um bezerro fundido e disseram: Este é o teu Deus (ó Israel) que te tirou do Egipto - ofendendo-te com graves ultrajes.
19 Yet thou in thy manifold mercies forsookest them not in the wilderness: the pillar of the cloud departed not from them by day, to lead them in the way; neither the pillar of fire by night, to shew them light, and the way wherein they should go.	19 Tu, pela tua grande misericórdia, não os desamparaste no deserto; a coluna de nuvem não se apartou deles de dia, para os guiar pelo caminho, nem a coluna de fogo durante a noite, para lhes mostrar o caminho por onde deviam ir.
20 Thou gavest also thy good spirit to instruct them, and withheldest not thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them water for their thirst.	20 Deste-lhes o teu bom espírito, que os ensinasse, e não retiraste o teu maná da sua boca, e deste-lhes água na sua sede.
21 Yea, forty years didst thou sustain them in the wilderness, so that they lacked nothing; their clothes waxed not old, and their feet swelled not.	21 Tu os sustentaste durante quarenta anos no deserto, e não lhes faltou nada; as suas vestes não se fizeram velhas, e os seus pés não se magoaram.
22 Moreover thou gavest them kingdoms and nations, and didst divide them into corners: so they possessed the land of Sihon, and the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan.	22 Deste-lhes reinos e povos, repartindo-lhos por sorte, e eles possuíram o país de Seon, o país do rei de Hesebon e o país de Og, rei de Basan.
23 Their children also multipliedst thou as the stars of heaven, and broughtest them into the land, concerning which thou hadst promised to their fathers, that they should go in to possess it.	23 Multiplicaste os seus filhos, como as estrelas do céu, e os conduziste à terra, em que eles deviam entrar para a possuir, segundo a promessa que fizeste a seus pais.
24 So the children went in and possessed the land, and thou subduedst before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gavest them into their hands, with their kings, and the people of the land, that they might do with them as they would.	24 Vieram seus filhos, possuíram a terra, e tu humilhaste diante deles os Cananeus, habitantes da terra; entregaste-lhos nas suas mãos, tanto os reis como os povos, para fazerem deles o que quisessem.
25 And they took strong cities, and a fat land, and possessed houses full of all goods, wells digged, vineyards, and oliveyards, and fruit trees in abundance: so they did eat, and were filled, and became fat, and delighted themselves in thy great goodness.	25 Eles tomaram cidades fortes e um país fértil, possuíram casas cheias de toda a sorte de bens, cisternas feitas pelos outros, vinhas, olivais e muitas árvores frutíferas; comeram, fartaram-se, engordaram e abundaram em delícias, devido à tua grande bondade.
26 Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled against thee, and cast thy law behind their backs, and slew thy prophets which testified against them to turn them to thee, and they wrought great provocations.	26 Contudo provocaram-te à ira, retirando-se de ti, rejeitando com desprezo a tua lei e matando os teus profetas, que os conjuravam a voltar para ti. Cometeram grandes abominações,
27 Therefore thou deliveredst them into the hand of their enemies, who vexed them: and in the time of their trouble, when they cried unto thee, thou heardest them from heaven; and according to thy manifold mercies thou gavest them saviours, who saved them out of the hand of their enemies.	27 e, então, tu os entregaste nas mãos dos seus inimigos, que os oprimiram. No tempo da sua tribulação, clamaram a ti, e tu os ouviste do céu; segundo a multidão das tuas misericórdias, deste-lhes salvadores, que os libertassem das mãos de seus inimigos.
28 But after they had rest, they did evil again before thee: therefore leftest thou them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had the dominion over them: yet when they returned, and cried unto thee, thou heardest them from heaven; and many times didst thou deliver them according to thy mercies;	28 Quando se viram em descanso, tornaram a fazer o mal diante de ti, e tu os deixaste nas mãos de seus inimigos, que os dominaram. Novamente se converteram e clamaram a ti, e tu os ouviste, do alto do céu, e livraste muitas vezes pela tua misericórdia.
29 And testifiedst against them, that thou mightest bring them again unto thy law: yet they dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto thy commandments, but sinned against thy judgments, (which if a man do, he shall live in them;) and withdrew the shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear.	29 Tu os exortaste a voltar para a tua lei, porém eles procederam com soberba, não ouviram os teus mandamentos, pecaram contra as tuas ordens, em cuja observância o homem acha a vida; voltaram-te as costas, endureceram a sua cerviz e não te deram ouvidos.
30 Yet many years didst thou forbear them, and testifiedst against them by thy spirit in thy prophets: yet would they not give ear: therefore gavest thou them into the hand of the people of the lands.	30 Durante muitos anos, tiveste paciência com eles; exortaste-os, por meio do teu espírito, pela boca dos teus profetas, mas eles não deram ouvidos, e então tu os entregaste nas mãos dos povos da terra.
31 Nevertheless for thy great mercies' sake thou didst not utterly consume them, nor forsake them; for thou art a gracious and merciful God.	31 Mesmo assim, pela tua grande misericórdia, não os confundiste de todo, nem os desamparaste, porque és um Deus misericordioso e clemente.
32 Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the terrible God, who keepest covenant and mercy, let not all the trouble seem little before thee, that hath come upon us, on our kings, on our princes, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all thy people, since the time of the kings of Assyria unto this day.	32 Agora, ó Deus nosso, grande e terrível, que conservas o teu pacto e a tua misericórdia, não apartes da tua face todos os males, que nos têm oprimido a nós, aos nossos reis, aos nossos príncipes, aos nossos sacerdotes, aos nossos profetas, aos nossos pais e a todo o teu povo, desde o tempo do rei da Assíria até hoje.
33 Howbeit thou art just in all that is brought upon us; for thou hast done right, but we have done wickedly:	33 Tu és justo em todas as coisas que têm vindo sobre nós, porque procedeste com fidelidade, enquanto que nós procedemos impiamente.
34 Neither have our kings, our princes, our priests, nor our fathers, kept thy law, nor hearkened unto thy commandments and thy testimonies, wherewith thou didst testify against them.	34 Os nossos reis, os nossos príncipes, os nossos sacerdotes, os nossos pais, não guardaram a tua lei, não obedeceram aos teus mandamentos, nem às ordens que lhes intimaste.
35 For they have not served thee in their kingdom, and in thy great goodness that thou gavest them, and in the large and fat land which thou gavest before them, neither turned they from their wicked works.	35 (Pelo contrário) nos seus reinos, na muita abundância de bens que lhes tinhas dado, na terra tão espaçosa e fértil que tinhas entregado ao seu poder, não te serviram nem se converteram das suas péssimas inclinações.
36 Behold, we are servants this day, and for the land that thou gavest unto our fathers to eat the fruit thereof and the good thereof, behold, we are servants in it:	36 Nós mesmo hoje somos escravos, e escravos na própria terra que deste a nossos pais, para comerem o pão e os frutos que ela produzisse!
37 And it yieldeth much increase unto the kings whom thou hast set over us because of our sins: also they have dominion over our bodies, and over our cattle, at their pleasure, and we are in great distress.	37 Os seus frutos multiplicam-se para os reis que tu puseste sobre nós, por causa dos nossos pecados, e que dominam sobre os nossos corpos e sobre os nossos animais, como bem lhes apraz. Sim, encontramo-nos numa grande tribulação.
38 And because of all this we make a sure covenant, and write it; and our princes, Levites, and priests, seal unto it.	38 Em atenção a todas estas coisas, nós mesmos celebramos uma aliança, que escrevemos e que é assinada pelos nossos príncipes, pelos nossos Levitas e pelos nossos sacerdotes.
